Kapitel 202: 202. Failed Capture

"It's up to you, Dratini!"

May has just embarked on the journey, and she is just a beginner after all, so she is not yet able to get used to walking such long distances without a break in between, so her speed was much slower than Ash.

In order to take care of May, Ash decided to slow down and walk slowly while training his Dratini to evolve into a Dragonair.

"Dratini, wear this!" Ash also brought a Macho Brace for his Dratini to wear. Even the slippery Dratini with its long serpent body was very much restrained.

"Wow, Ash, your Pokémon's are so cute!" The image of Pikachu and now this Dratini immediately touched May's heart, she particularly liked the cute small Pokémon's.

"Not only are they cute, they are also very powerful!" Ash corrected her with a smile.

May had an idea and took out her brand new Pokémon Pokédex she just got from Professor Birch and scanned Ash's Dratini. "Dratini, the Dragon Pokémon. Dratini is known for continually molting off its old skin. It does so because the life energy within its body steadily builds to reach uncontrollable levels. This Pokémon is extremely rare, and is known to live in deep clear water bodies."

"The Dragon Pokémon?"

May was shocked by the information she got from her Pokédex, "Is this a really such a rare Pokémon?"

"It's really rare and it took me a lot of effort to catch him!"

Ash really put a lot of effort into Dratini. He took the opportunity to make a request to Lance and select it himself. And finally, he had a fight with Dragonite before he was recognized and caught this very young Dratini which knew Extreme Speed!

May looked at the boy she was holding, "Are you really such a very powerful Pokémon Trainer?"

"I'm not that strong, it's still far from completing my goal!" The stronger he gets, the more modest and restrained Ash becomes, or at least he "tries" to be, "Hey, look over there, May!"

What was in front of the two of them at this moment was a small Azurill. Its cute appearance instantly captured May's weak heart. "It's so cute, I want it, I need it!"

With that said, she was about to take out her Poké Ball and throw it out, "I know you should use an empty Poké Ball when catching a Pokémon, right, Ash?"

Seeing May throwing the Poké Ball directly towards Azurill and taking it inside, Ash was also a little confused. Did May really think that she was in Pokémon GO?

But it's still funny to think about this. When his past self first set off on his journey, he did exactly the same as the May did in front of him. Fortunately he got to know Misty who helped him understand some of the basics of Pokémon catching.

While the red light was still flashing on and off, May was already cheering for herself, "Great, I have captured my very first Pokémon!"

However, the very next second, the Poké Ball directly opened and the Azurill came out, and this little guy was very angry after being suddenly hit by a ball.

Anyone who is suddenly hit in the head by a ball and then locked into a strange space will definitely be angry.

This is also the reason that catching Pokémon through battles became a thing in the first place. Now that past Ash has become a much more mature Trainer that knows most thing about capturing a Pokémon.

Looking at the startled May, Ash couldn't help but laugh, "May, to catch it, you need to first fight the Pokémo to weaken its strength before throwing your empty Poké Ball! Or you could try to befriend it."

This is the most basic explanation Ash could give her. Now May only needs to know this before finding her own way!

After hearing Ash's sudden reminder, May remembered that her father and her school had taught her the same thing but she just didn't pay attention to it. After her inner thoughts, she immediately threw out her Poké Ball, "Torchic, I need your help!"

However, she didn't know what kind of moves her Torchic could use, and Torchic hadn't adapted to any battles just yet. When May began robhesitate, it walked towards the angry Azurill.

Azurill led it to a big tree, and the little Torchic bumped into the tree. There really is a Pokémon for every Trainer.

"May, you can't panic right now, your hesitation and panic will be conveyed to your Torchic!" This is the second very important suggestion given by Ash to her, "Hurry up and use your Pokémon Pokédex to know what kind of moves your Torchic can use!"

Hearing this, May nodded and looked at her Torchic, "Torchic, are you okay?"

However, Torchic didn't hear May's voice. It was very annoyed when it hit the tree and chased after Azurill again.

May forced herself to calm down, and while following her Torchic, she took out the Pokémon Pokédex to check the skills her Torchic could use.

What kind of moves can a beginner Torchic use? It's just Tackle and Growl that many Pokémon can learn. It hasn't even leaned how to use Ember properly yet. Besides, since it is a chicken after all, there is also a the Flying-type Peck.

But then May felt a little confident, "Okay then, Torchic, use Peck!"

The wild Azurill was easily able to avoid the attack with the bounce of its tail, Torchic closed his eyes and pecked at the tree trunk behind Azurill.

It took him a while to react, and when he saw Azurill at the side, he chased after it again. After chasing it until they reached a river, Torchic became much more furious and used his unskilled Ember in the direction of where Azurill was escaping towards.

When May chased after them, she discovered that something was wrong. It turned out that the Azurill had companions with it. Torchic's move directly hit a Marill and a Azumarill.

Now they were all very angry. May has no idea of subduing this Azurill anymore. These are Water-type Pokémon in front of her, and their attack effect on Torchic is very high because of Torchic's low defense.

Now they have to save Torchic from getting a beating!

She had just reacted when Azumarill and her Water Gun were already spraying towards Torchic.

"Pikachu, Thunderbolt!"

Ash has long been accustomed to this kind of scene, and Pikachu's reaction was much faster than his own. He immediately landed in front of Torchic, and the rushing lightning blocked the Water Gun fired by the Azumarill.

"Pika!"

Its cheeks shone with some sparks, and this the Azumarill immediately became frightened and fled away with her group.

May quickly picked up her Torchic. Seeing that it was okay, she quickly thanked Ash for his help, "Ash, thank you, Pikachu, you are very awesome ther!"

"Pi~Kachu!"

Seeing Ash's strength, May was even more sure that her decision to join him was a very wise one.

May's first try to catch a Pokémon through battle did not go so smoothly. Ash and May continued on the road and soon arrived at Oldale Town. The first thing they did was of course to go to the Pokémon Center there.

Ash finished logging in for the Hoenn Ever Grande Conference, but May seemed to have not yet made any decision yet.

"Professor Oak, I have arrived at Oldale Town!" After completing these tasks, Ash immediately dialed the number of Professor Oak in the phone booth.

"Yeah, that's great!" Seeing that both Ash and Pikachu were in good spirits, Professor Oak felt relieved, "A new adventure is about to begin, right?"

"Yes, I will work hard on this!" May had been standing behind Ash, and then suddenly interrupted, "My name is May, hello!"

Professor Oak had seen the beautiful girl behind Ash just now, "Hello thee May! I am Professor Oak from Pallet Town!"

May had already put her face in front of the screen, "I know, I know! I often listen to the broadcast of your lectures with my little brother! If my brother knew that I talked to the famous Professor Oak he will definitely be very jealous!"

It can be seen that May admires Professor Oak very much, "I have become a Pokémon Trainer and have been traveling for only a little while. Please give me your advice!"

Even Professor Oak couldn't stand May's enthusiasm, and Ash could see the sweat drops on his face, "It seems that Ash will make lively new friends soon! Ash, you two have a good trip!"

"By the way, are you done with the Ultra Balls that you had with you? I have a few more here for you to use!" Professor Oak suddenly looked at Ash with some eagerness in his eyes.

Of course he knew what kind of Pokémon Ash has previously caught using his Ultra Balls. Now that the Ash's three Legendary Beasts and his Zapdos had settled in his Laboratory backyard, he and Tracey had specially prepared an ideal environment for them to live in.

The two Eon siblings have been hiding by the waterfall in the backyard. Latias and Latios occasionally teleports all over to get used to their new environment.

Hearing this, Ash said of course, "Yes! The more the merrier! And Professor Oak, don't forget the reward you promised. It already took you so long to prepare, so it must be a big reward for me!"

"Haha, just wait and see!"

"What? The Hoenn Region?"

At a public phone booth outside of Oldale Town, the Rocket Trio huddled together and contacted their big boss Giovanni. Giovanni was also confused when he heard that his favorite trio actually went to the Hoenn Region out of the blue.

That's a place where he hasn't reached out his dominance just yet!

"Yes, in order to dedicate it to Boss Giovanni, we chased the rare Pikachu all the way to here!"

"We are working hard for the reputation of Team Rocket, meow!"

Giovanni didn't take the Trio's declaration of loyalty to heart, and he didn't even have any idea about the Pikachu they said because it belonged to Ash. And he wasn't trying to mess with him for now.

"So, you tried your best to get in touch with me. Do you have any good news for me?" Giovanni didn't have the patience to talk to these minions of him, even though they were the ones that entertained him the most.

The Trio also noticed this, and quickly requested with fear, "It's like this, we can hardly even raise the food expenses for today..."

"No! I won't send you any supplies!" Before they could even finish speaking their sentence, they were immediately rejected by Giovanni.

But he turned around and said, "But I can give you a great opportunity. There is no activity base for Team Rocket in the Hoenn Region. You have to work hard there and build up the reputation of the Rockets. I am waiting for your good news!"

If Ash were to hear this, he would definitely agree to this because this will help him train up his new Pokémon's.

However, the Rocket Trio became very excited and prepared to show off their skills in the brand new Hoenn Region.

After hanging up the phone, Giovanni stroked his Persian, "Through those idiots, we can get information about Hoenn's local teams. I heard those pesky Team Aqua and Team Magma are trying to increase their powers. It's a good time to put them in use!"

After hanging up the phone, Ash took the new Trainer May to introduce some of the Pokémon Center's facilities, and then took her to have dinner.

The food at the Pokémon Center is not only rich in variety, but also tastes pretty good. Although it is not as good as what Brock usually makes in the road, it is still the most powerful source of energy that the Alliance provides to the Trainers under it!

"It's delicious. The Pokémon Center is really such a great place to stay at!" May seems to have a high pursuit of food. She is a foodie, so it is natural that she is full of praise for the food found here.

Pikachu was also happily eating his favorite ketchup from a bottle.

But Ash reminded, "This is a place for us to rest occasionally after rigorous training and long travel, so it is impossible to just go to the Pokémon Center every day!"

"Yeah yeah, I understand that!" May is mentally prepared for the trip, just not physically.

Suddenly, the lights in the Pokémon Center dimmed down to a very low degree, and Pikachu immediately jumped on Ash's shoulders ready to have some fun.

"Is there a power outage?" May stood up next to Ash and saw a blue light suddenly flashing across Ash's whole body. She was scared to the point of readying herself to let out a loud scream, then she quickly covered her mouth with her hands at the last second.

Ash used his power over Aura to replace his eyes, and saw a group of people in red clothes, carrying several Houndooms, swaggering into the Pokémon Center and walking towards the back room.

"May, stay here and hide. And protect yourself if you can!"

Ash left these words and hurriedly walked over with his Pikachu.

If it were Misty, Ash would just take her with him because he knows she could handle it, but now May is just a new Trainer without any experience, so he let her stay here.

But even though Ash just said to stay and hide, May still followed after him. She wanted to be with him because he was strong and could protect her, and just maybe she could be of some help to him.

The team of red men broke into one of the many rooms of the Pokémon Center and stood in front of a man in a shirt, "Professor Alden, come with us to the Oldale Ruins!"

This Oldale Ruins should be the large ruins outside of Oldale Town. It is surrounded by several large stone pillars and looked to be very old.

"Ash?" The light of the flashlight flashed by, and Nurse Joy appeared in front of Ash.

Immediately afterwards, the three of them were discovered by the red team and gathered together. The four Houndooms bared their teeth at them, looking very intimidating.

Ash, who had cooperated with Lance on multiple occasions before, decided to wait and see what the people in this organization wanted to do before he made his move. That's the reason he didn't put up a fight even though his Pikachu and Dratini could easily beat up these grunts.

The three of them were put into a warehouse, the door was locked, and Professor Alden was taken away by then.

"Nurse Joy, who is this Professor Alden?" Ash did not seem to panic at all at their predicament, but instead asked Nurse Joy more questions to learn about their current situation.

"He set up the Laboratory in this Pokémon Center specifically to study the Oldale Ruins." Nurse Joy introduced him.

It is really a good idea to set up the Laboratory in the Pokémon Center, where food and accommodation are convenient and has a large array of machines.

"Do you know the condition of those ruins?" Ash asked again.

Nurse Joy nodded, "I heard from Professor Alden that there is a stone chamber hidden beneath the ruins. Legend has it that it may be the door connecting the ancient Pokémon world to our world!"

In fact, he has very vague memory about this part, but Ash roughly knew that the organization in front of him should be Team Magma who was trying to expand the earth with the power of Groudon, but no matter what their intention was, Ash would not sit idly by when it came to the safety of humans and Pokémon's around the globe.

"Pikachu, Iron Tail!"

"Pi pi!"

Pikachu's Iron Tail is getting sharper and sharper by the day now, and now his Pikachu has a new tendency of cutting anything he gets his tail on. It can cut open the warehouse door with one light slash.

"Nurse Joy, I'll leave this to you. I'll go to the Oldale Ruins to help Professor Alden!" Ash rushed to the Oldale Ruins with his Pikachu in tow, and May still followed after him!

At this moment in the Oldale Ruins, Team Magma is forcing Professor Alden to open the stone chamber beneath the ruins. They have collected all the four gems needed to open the stone chamber ahead of time just for this occasion.

The reason why they asked Professor Alden was that they needed to know the order and position that the four gemstones needed to be placed in.

"Professor Alden, don't you care about the safety of all the people and Pokémon's at the Pokémon Center?!" They actually used everyone at the Pokémon Center as a threat.

Seeing that Professor Alden finally giving up, May couldn't help but ask Ash, "Ash, aren't you going to take action against them yet?"

Ash shook his head, "I'm still not sure of the identity or the purpose of this organization. I need to investigate more information. I'll have a chat with Lance later about them."

"Lance?" May seemed to have heard this name somewhere before from her dad, but she didn't have any time to ask in detail right now.

Professor Alden opened the stone chamber and saw that the walls inside were depicting murals of the lives of ancient humans and Pokémon. Aerodactyl, Omastar, Kabutops and other fossil Pokémon that once lived in the same land as the ancient humans.

This is a touching scene for every archaeologists and researcher.

"Where's the information we need?" These people didn't seem to be interested in the walls at all. After confirming that there was no information that they needed, these people immediately retreated, and Professor Alden was also brought out with them.

Ash then showed up with May, and he frowned, "Who are you people?"

As he said that, he looked to the other side and said, "Team Rocket, come out and stop following me!"

As he finished speaking, the ground began to collapse, and the Rocket Trio emerged from the ground, "Ash, we are not your subordinates, meow!"

"That's right, we need to become the special executive of the Hoenn Region!" Jessie and James are excited about their new mission that they received from Giovanni.

"What executive are you going to be? You three are not going to be them even if you wanted to!" Ash didn't want to complain about them but they still annoyed him, "This organization that is wearing red just now, investigate their background and report any information to me immediately! If you don't, I'm going to get my Venusaur and whip you three!" Ash was not having all this after him not finishing his food.

"Yes sir!" These three morons agreed in the spot. They turned around and started whispering, "We can just use the power of the brat, and then he can just eradicate all these teams we can't, and then we can develop Team Rocket however the boss wishes to!"

"That's smart, meow!"
