"Fine," Davian grumbled, conceding very unhappily.

He took the key from one of his men, walking towards the car that had been prepared for the trip.

"Checked?" He spoke in quiet tones to him.

The man looked grave as he responded, "Every square inch."

Davian still didn't look convinced but he let it go, opening the passenger's door for Lake.

"Thank you," Lake murmured, getting in, the interior of the car protecting him from the curious stares of Davian's men.

It didn't help that he knew them as well as they knew him, making his new situation that more awkward.

The sun was setting as they drove out of the mansion gates, Lake nervously buckling his seat belt.

He couldn't pinpoint exactly why he was nervous, it could be the new experience he was having.

It could also be the dangerous expression Davian was currently wearing.

Was the Mafia King upset? Had he finally toed the line?
