Chapter 62: Mr. "World"

"Good afternoon, Mr. World," Audrey greeted calmly, scrutinizing the dummy "World."

"Hello," Klein controlled the dummy "World" to respond.

Alice curiously glanced around.

Little "Sun" was somewhat curious about the new member, but his lack of knowledge about the world outside Silver City prevented him from gleaning much information through observation.

Miss "Justice," now a "Mind Reader," should have enhanced observational abilities due to her sequence path. Could she guess that "World" is actually a dummy?

Mr. "Hanged Man's" expression... well, it hasn't changed much. However, the sequence names of the Storm Church sound like... oh, he's looking at me! Alice quickly averted her gaze, retracting her impolite thoughts.

After everyone had greeted "World" and received a rather indifferent response, Audrey raised her hand. Upon receiving Klein's nod, she said, "Mr. Fool, I have found two ladies suitable for our Tarot Club. They are both Beyonders with their own circles and resources in Backlund, and they are discreet and have good personalities. Would you be willing to let them join our gatherings?"

Sitting at the head, Klein quickly made a decision.

This wasn't a difficult decision. He still had slots available for new members, and having resolved his major crisis and found the next sequence formula, his next task was to search for Lanrus in Backlund, which clearly required more Beyonders.

Of course, most importantly, Alice's presence confirmed that he could bring in those who had merely recited his honorable name.

Klein said calmly, "This requires some assessment, Miss 'Justice.'

"Inform them of my name in a concealed manner that does not expose yourself and arouse their interest.

"I will give you a simple task to assign to them in your name as part of the assessment."

"Understood, please assign the task," Audrey responded affirmatively.

Klein extended his right hand, pressing it onto the table, and materialized a drawing depicting Lanrus's appearance and attire.

"Gather information about the person in the drawing. He is in Backlund," Klein made the portrait appear in front of Audrey.

Unable to see the portrait, Alice looked pitifully at Audrey.

"I will assign it to them..." Audrey noticed Alice's gaze and hesitantly asked, "Uh, Miss 'Destiny,' do you... have something to say?"

Alice believed Audrey could definitely understand her intentions, but she couldn't continue—The Fool, who was controlling "World," coughed twice.

He has become troublesome with his small account... Alice muttered inwardly, "No, I have nothing to say."

Does she know "World"? This thought flashed through Audrey and Alger's minds simultaneously. They immediately understood why Alice was observing others instead of "World" when he appeared.

At this moment, "World" looked around and said hoarsely, "Mr. Fool told me that I could issue tasks and gather materials here, correct?"

"Yes," Audrey nodded gracefully, "but you must be patient. The next period belongs to Mr. Fool's reading time."

This small interlude was thus concluded, and Mr. Fool looked at Alger. Alger quickly collected his thoughts, bowed humbly, and said, "This time, it's still six pages. The last page will be given to you next time."

"Okay," Klein nodded slightly.

Alger then focused his mind, recalled the content, and expressed the diary, watching it disappear and reappear in Klein's hand.

After reading the diary, Klein tapped the table and said, "Miss 'Justice,' you did well, solving the Backlund issue in less than a week. As agreed, what kind of reward do you seek?"

Alger's expression briefly showed surprise, seemingly shocked at how quickly the matter was resolved.

But he quickly composed himself and respectfully said to Klein, hidden in the gray fog, "I'm sorry, I just contacted the right people and couldn't help much."

Alice began to wonder if she had refused too quickly—never mind, "Hanged Man" had already imagined that far...

Klein chuckled softly, "This is a commission, not a favor, no need to worry."

He then turned his gaze to Audrey, waiting for her to state her desired reward.

"No, I should still owe you, no, owe your favored one a reward," Audrey said after a few seconds of deliberation.

Alice glanced at Audrey, slightly surprised by her honesty.

"The bounty for 'Hurricane Lieutenant' Qilangos is a total of 30,000 pounds. I should give your favored one 15,000 pounds. Among this, the assassination of Backlund cost 10,000 pounds, and I need to pay an additional 5,000 pounds. However, due to the Backlund incident, my financial situation isn't great, so this reward will need to wait a few months. Mr. Fool, is that acceptable?" After saying this, Audrey quietly breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a small weight lifted from her heart.

So Qilangos had a bounty... Alice belatedly realized a way to make money that existed in her past world but she had never encountered—bounties on wanted criminals.

But Alice guessed Klein must be in pain... obviously, that nonexistent favored one was Mr. Azik, meaning this money might just pass through Klein's hands...

Wait, no... would 0-08 record their escape from the cemetery? No, it shouldn't. By then, Ince Zangwill had already arrived in Backlund, and 0-08's influence range wasn't that large. So, as long as they didn't contact Mr. Azik, they were temporarily out of 0-08's sight.

But how much influence could 0-08 have on her? Thinking of the "coincidental" mercury snake, Alice was skeptical about 0-08's effectiveness on her.

"That's acceptable," Mr. Fool, who also recognized 0-08's drawbacks, decided to use the money to enhance himself first. After dealing with 0-08, his strength would be greater, and repaying would be easier.

At this moment, "World" coughed and asked, "Can I speak now?"

Audrey, after observing Mr. Fool's attitude, answered on his behalf, "Yes."

He's quite the actor... maybe he really is suited for the circus—this was Alice's afterthought.

Seeing that you all think Alice resembles Probability Dice Will, I feel reassured (what).
