Kapitel 38: Shadows Of the Past

Lyra's POV:

We had a nice and simple meal. Breakfast with Alpha Damien almost felt like a date as he was behaving so gentlemanly. I thought that Alphas were usually pompous and arrogant, but Alpha Damien proved me wrong.

"I envy you," I said as I stared at him. "You seem to have no care in the world, and you already discovered that you were special a long time ago, so that makes you pretty awesome and chill"

He laughed at my statement. If I didn't know better, I would have thought that I said something really funny.

"You think because I live freely and don't look depressed, then I haven't gone through pain. Well Lyra, I have seen pain. More gut-wrenching pain than you can ever imagine. I just keep a sunny disposition to prevent me from failing in my duties as an Alpha to my pack"
