Kapitel 98: Chapter 89.2 : Brilliant Idea??

Lucy took advantage of the distraction to slip back.

"Open the Gate of Virgo!" she called. The pink-haired celestial maid appeared, bowing. "Princess, do you require punishment?"

"No, drag him underground," Lucy ordered.

"As you wish," Virgo replied, about to execute the task.

But then, the Knight of Truth pointed at her and asked, "Who do you despise most?"

"I can't stand the princess!"

The silence that followed was shattered as the Knight of Truth burst into the room, blade at the ready. He lunged toward Virgo, aiming for a quick strike.

"Virgo!" Lucy snapped her whip around the Knight of Truth's wrist, trying to restrain him. But the knight was too strong—he yanked his arm, sending Lucy flying. At the same time, he delivered a brutal kick that knocked Virgo off her feet.

"Water Nebula!" Juvia, seeing Lucy in peril, conjured a swirling torrent of water and sent it hurtling toward the Knight of Truth.

"Trying to surround me? I'll cut you all down at once," he growled, raising his sword. Just as he was about to swing, he dodged to the side to avoid the rushing waterspout.

'Boom!'

Juvia's attack struck hard, forcing the Knight of Truth back. She quickly grabbed Lucy's hand and they ran for safety.

The Knight of Truth was fuming. He used his team voice communication to reach out to the Knight of Honour, yelling, "Stop them, you two! Don't let them get away!"

Suddenly, a tense hush fell over the room. Everyone else seemed to be holding their breath, waiting for the next move.

On the other side of the battlefield, Natsu and Gray were in the midst of a furious assault. Their energy seemed limitless, and their strikes were relentless.

"Crimson Lotus Fire Dragon's Fist!" Natsu roared, his fists igniting with blazing flames as he pummeled his opponent. His speed increased with each hit, but the Spiritual Knight remained unshaken.

"I stand firm against all odds! My fists are indomitable—this is my spiritual conviction!" The Spiritual Knight shouted with a maniacal grin. His hands seemed impervious to the fire, striking Natsu's blazing fists as if they were nothing more than a light breeze.

Natsu clenched his teeth, feeling the pain radiate through his arms. But he wouldn't back down, not now, not ever.

"Ice-Make: Cannon!" Gray joined the fray, unleashing his ice magic to support Natsu's assault.

The battle was far from over, and the tides could turn at any moment.

In a flash, the Spiritual Knight extended one hand, shattering Gray's ice, while his other hand deftly deflected Natsu's simultaneous strikes.

"How is this possible?" Natsu and Gray were in disbelief, yet the Spiritual Knight effortlessly countered them.

Meanwhile, Erza's Adamantine Armor was riddled with cracks, courtesy of the Heroic Knight's unique attack method—self-destruction. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't figure out how to break through his defenses.

Laxus clenched his fists in frustration. No matter how many times he attacked, his magic was neutralized by the Humble Knight.

"The Thunder Dragon's Roar!" Laxus shouted, summoning a massive burst of electricity.

The Humble Knight, standing straight with an air of indifference, responded, "Such a powerful blast would level the entire street. Do me a favor and be quiet." He gestured, and Laxus's magic fizzled out.

The Humble Knight continued, "O earth, bury this young warrior." Immediately, the ground behind him transformed into a wave of mud, surging toward Laxus.

"Air, leave his lungs," he commanded. Laxus suddenly found it hard to breathe.

"Damn it!" Laxus roared, electricity crackling around him.

"Steel, pierce him," the Humble Knight ordered. In response, steel shards shot toward Laxus.

Laxus was in danger. But then, a loud gunshot echoed through the air. The Humble Knight took a step back, glancing into the distance.

The Knight of Honour and the Knight of Justice stood silently, showing little concern for their colleague's reaction.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Laxus released a surge of thunderous energy, smashing all incoming attacks with a single punch. He then swiftly retreated to a safer position.

After the battle, Laxus noticed that the enemy's magic had a specific range, similar to Everit's. However, he quickly found that long-range attacks from outside this range also had no effect.

But then something clicked in his mind. He remembered that Everit had used bullets to keep the opponent at bay. Why did that work?

No. Hold on. Laxus's eyes brightened as he made a crucial connection.

"Speed!" he exclaimed. "Everit, the reason your bullets work is because this guy's magic can't control things that move too fast!"

"Exactly," Everit replied.

He had tried using magic to manipulate the Humble Knight, preventing him from speaking by controlling his senses, making him believe he was talking when he actually wasn't.

But none of it worked. The enemy's magic didn't require verbal incantations—it was just the opponent's habit.

Laxus's key realization was that the Humble Knight's magic took time to activate. Although it was a brief delay, it was enough for Everit's bullets to break his concentration.

Yet even this small delay was a vulnerability! If someone could exploit it, they could turn the tide against the mage.

Everit pondered and added, "And there's something else: when he immobilizes his opponent, he himself can't move. When he attacks, he has to let go of his immobilization."

This was crucial information. When the Humble Knight controlled Laxus to keep him still, he himself couldn't move. But when he shifted to attack, Laxus could move again.

Laxus now had two key weaknesses to work with:

First, the enemy's inability to control things that move too fast.

Second, when controlling another's body, he can't move his own.

Laxus began strategizing how to defeat this formidable opponent, his breathing quickening with excitement as he envisioned the battle ahead.

Lucy was struggling to breathe, feeling so deprived of oxygen that she nearly passed out.

"This is taking so much energy!" she thought, barely keeping her balance. Even Juvia, with all her magic power, seemed to be struggling.

Natsu turned to Everit and said, "Hey, tell Lucy I've got a plan."

Everit nodded, relaying Natsu's message. It was a useful ability—the Seven Knights had an in-team communication system, and Everit was the one on the Fairy Tail side who could carry everyone's words to each other.

Lucy and Juvia received the news through Everit's relay.

"Mr. Natsu has a plan?" Juvia was surprised. Natsu usually wasn't known for his clever strategies—he was more of a charge-in-headfirst type. But he still managed to come up with something that caught even Gray's attention.

"Yeah, this is what Natsu and I observed," Gray added.

The truth was, they had been fighting for quite some time without gaining much ground. Lucy's enemy didn't seem as tough as Gray and Natsu's, but he was proving tricky—neither Lucy nor Juvia had been able to take him down, even with Everit's help.

So Gray and Natsu decided to switch things up.

Swapping enemies? No.

Instead, they experimented with various attacks, trying to learn more about the enemy's magic. They noticed that the spiritual knight would always counter with the same type of power, no matter what they did.

That led to Natsu's bright idea—the one Gray described as "genius." They would pretend to be defeated, like a wolf feigning sleep to draw out the enemy's overconfidence, then strike back when they least expected it.

"What a genius move," Everit exclaimed. He was impressed by the strategy—it wasn't the typical approach you'd expect from Natsu.

The plan was risky, but they were running out of options. Natsu's extraordinary instincts and Gray's analytical mind had somehow found common ground, resulting in this clever trick. Would it be enough to turn the tide?
