"So."
Jason pulled out a handkerchief, wiped his hands, and then extended it for a handshake, saying, "I'm fortunate to meet an elf like you."
*Boom.*
Tiffany reacted, throwing a punch at the talkative stranger. He flew across the carriage, knocking over several rows of seats, before crashing into a heap of debris. He passed out.
The entire carriage fell into a stunned silence. Everyone turned to look at the commotion, eyes wide with shock.
Mirajane smiled and stood up.
"Miss Mirajane?" Tiffany asked, puzzled.
"If there's a barrier this huge, something must have happened in Ahhanita Town," Mirajane said. "Let's go take a look. If anyone needs our help, it's our job to step in."
"Okay," Tiffany nodded, rising to her feet.

Meanwhile, in the Ahhanita family's underground chamber...
"Huff... huff..."
Wade gasped for breath, staring at Laxus on the other side of the room, his face a mix of confusion and fear.
What kind of monster is this guy?
Absorbing a direct lightning strike? Was that even humanly possible?
"It tasted bad," Laxus commented, his expression showing disgust. It was like the time Lisanna made him eat those weird-flavored candies as a forfeit during a game.
He and Everit kept losing consecutively, and Lisanna kept giving them more of those awful candies. He couldn't eat for the rest of the day. Everit was even taken down by a stomachache from it.
"But," Laxus continued, his voice steady, "it still filled me up."
Laxus threw a bolt of thunder without warning, and Wade barely managed to dodge it. Sweat poured down his face—what kind of monster got stronger the more it fought?
"Thunder Dragon's Breakdown Fist!"
Laxus charged in and threw a powerful punch.
'Boom!'
The underground tunnel nearly collapsed from the force of the blast. Dust and debris filled the air, scattering as Laxus strode through the dimly lit corridor, his electric aura crackling with energy.
"Running pretty fast," he remarked, his eyes scanning the bloodstains on the ground.
The leader of the dark guild had escaped, fleeing into the labyrinth of tunnels after being struck by Laxus's powerful attack.
Despite his injuries, the guild leader was quick and resourceful, not hesitating to flee.
But Laxus wasn't about to let him get away. He knew that letting someone so dangerous escape could spell trouble for Fairy Tail.
"You don't get to run away after attacking my guild," he muttered, and then took off in pursuit, his steps echoing through the underground passage.
Meanwhile, in the laboratory, there was an air of excitement. Frank and his associates stood around a set of tables where several individuals lay. John watched with keen interest as Frank spoke.
"Mr. John, our experiment has been successful!" Frank declared, pointing to one of the people on the tables. It was John's second wife, an elderly woman who had undergone the experimental procedure.
She was now young again, her body transformed by eternal blood. Her eyes sparkled with joy as she examined her hands, which had lost their wrinkles.
John's face remained impassive as he observed the results. The experiment had claimed the lives of several others, including John's other wives, lovers, and children. But to John, the sacrifices were worth it for the promise of eternal youth.
Suddenly, a blood vine shot up from beneath the experimental table, piercing through the young woman's body. Her eyes widened in shock as she looked at John, her mouth forming the word, "Why?"
John's expression was icy. Without a word, he used his control over the blood vines to end the lives of everyone on the tables. Frank and his men exchanged glances, hiding their relief at not being among the victims.
"Mr. John, we're ready to inject you with eternal blood," Frank said, his voice carefully neutral. It was clear he didn't want to end up like the others.
"Go ahead," John replied, his tone cold. He used a blood vine to support his frail body as he lay down on one of the experimental tables.
Frank and the others gathered around him, their smiles forced and tense.
"It won't take long, Mr. John. When you wake up, you'll be young again," Frank assured him, though the faint tremor in his voice suggested he knew the risks involved.
The lab was filled with an uneasy silence as they began the procedure.
"Finally," John said, his gaze fixed on the headlights above him. It was as if he could see light for the first time in a long while.
His body, battered and exhausted, was on the verge of collapse. Yet, in the final moments, he'd managed to pull it off.
Next, in John's eyes, the headlights began to transform into something else—a new sun.
"Let's get started, Mr. John," Frank said.
"Thank you, Frank," John replied. "I'd like to give you a gift."
"No, Mr. John," Frank said, his smile freezing in place.
"It's already been given," John said.
'Pfft'
A thin needle protruded from the tip of a blood vine, piercing into the bodies of Frank and his companions.
"The poison I've injected has no antidote," John explained. "It will take effect in an hour unless I remove it."
John turned to Frank and said, "I have money, and I don't want to die. You're young, and I doubt you want to die, either."
"I hope I can open my eyes alive," he continued. "So I'm giving you a gift—the gift of life."
Frank trembled as he injected John with the eternal blood.
"Ahem," Edward coughed as he walked down the street.
The streets were in chaos. There had been a massive battle at the mayor's manor, and everyone in town knew about it.
The soldiers, leaderless and confused, wandered like headless flies. They dared not approach the group of mages who had been fighting, and they weren't sure how to react.
The Ahhanita family controlled nearly all the power in this town, having filled every position that could yield benefits. But now, when chaos struck, they had no one capable of leading.
The old-timers were avoiding trouble, staying cooped up in their offices. The younger generation, though more enthusiastic, lacked the experience and tools to maintain order, rendering them ineffective.
Thus, chaos reigned. The unsavory elements took advantage of the turmoil to gain profit. Among them were a few dark mages who would never have dared cause trouble before, but now they were emboldened by the lack of order.
Edward looked up and saw a young girl crying—her family's shop had just been robbed, and her parents were injured.
"I have to do something," he said to himself.
"Mr. Laxus is fighting."
"He's right. We can't just sit here and wait for death."
"I have my own battles to fight," he resolved. "I have reasons I cannot fail."
