Kapitel 2: Chapter 2

"Today's Highlights: The mysterious comet is close to the earth, and it may bring the largest meteor shower in Earth's history. Experts are calculating the orbit of the comet."

"Where did this comet come from? Why haven't we heard any warnings before? What truths is the government hiding from us?"

"God, help! A meteor is flying towards me!"

"At present, the meteor shower has swept through most parts of the Eastern Hemisphere. It is reported that Russia, China, Australia, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, India, Malaysia, Thailand, and other regions have fallen into communication paralysis..."

"This is a devastating disaster! God, the Virgin Mary, and the satellites in the geosynchronous space orbit were all destroyed. We have lost contact with the outside world... Mayor George is trying to find a solution, and everyone should stay in their own homes. Never go out!"

"Mom, I want my mom! Ohh..."

"This is God's punishment against the infidels! Hahahaha, evil heresy, tremble in hell!"

"Command center, command center, this is Tie Hou, requesting to restore communication... I repeat, this is Tie Hou, requesting... Ah... boom..."

"Grandma, what's happening in the sky?"

"It's a meteor shower! Oh, make a wish, it might come true!"

"Oh, I want to make a wish for my grandma to get better..."

"Don't play League of Legends, come out and watch the meteor shower! I can't believe it, it's spectacular!"

"The ancient Mayan prophecy, postponed for ten years, has finally come true. The end of the world has arrived, and human civilization will be destroyed. God, please guide us on our path forward."

"Hey, hey, is anyone else there? Are there any survivors?"

"Commander, the eighteenth tsunami... We are leaning!"

"No! Liaoning... Never sink... Boom... No..."

Uh...

As I watched the meteor fall towards me, Shen Cong's eyes widened, and thoughts of the "end of the world" quickly filled my mind.

I may have been mentally prepared. I simply acted on instinct, opening the armor of King Kong and jumping into the cab. Then the ignition started, preparing to escape from the meteor that seemed to be heading towards me.

However, the launch speed of King Kong was not fast enough. By the time the tires started to turn, the meteor had already carried a blazing fire and accurately hit the tin can warehouse. A huge flame engulfed the warehouse and everything was consumed.

Sitting in the cab, I didn't have any extra thoughts and fell into a coma from the massive shockwave.

If one were to look at the Earth from outer space at this time...

They would see a comet grazing the Earth's atmosphere, countless meteors blanketing the Earth like fireworks. These meteors collided with the Earth's surface, releasing waves of escaping energy. The entire Earth seemed to be an abstract painting, covered in vibrant colors.

Post-apocalyptic predictions for 2022 became a reality.

And now...

Crackling!

Countless small stones were scattered around, producing an endless sound.

I felt a heavy and groggy sensation in my brain, as if it had been weighed down by lead. A strange feeling of swelling overwhelmed me, growing with immense intensity.

I tried to move my body, but there was no response at all.

It was as if my body had been paralyzed.

Paralyzed?

Paralyzed!

Just as this thought filled my mind, I was abruptly awakened from my dazed state. I started to breathe quickly. With six years of continuous exercise and physical training, I was capable of performing push-ups with a single finger and accurately hitting targets within 20 meters using a slingshot. Physical fitness had always been my greatest asset during these trying times. How could I be paralyzed?

After regaining my senses, I carefully assessed my condition.

To my relief, I discovered that I was not paralyzed. My hands and feet were intact, my body was unharmed, and I had not sustained any injuries. I was still in the cab of King Kong, although it was now dark. It seemed that the circuit of King Kong had been damaged during the meteor attack.

"A large area of the external armor melted, and a small part of the internal circuit burned. Urgent repairs are needed..."

These thoughts and messages, originating from the Vajra, filled my mind. It was an indescribable experience. The Vajra was like an extension of my body, able to sense everything, but lacking control.

"What is happening?" I wondered, furrowing my brow, trying to make sense of it all.

Outside the truck, the relentless sound of crackling and the haunting howling winds created an unfriendly atmosphere. I hesitated to step out of the car and check the situation outside, but I couldn't find any changes that I had made with the Vajra. This made me feel frustrated and uneasy.

However, I knew that I needed to determine what was happening outside. When I fell into a coma within King Kong, I witnessed countless meteors piercing the sky, followed by a massive meteor hitting the tin can warehouse.

"The meteor was so enormous," I thought to myself, "If it had hit King Kong directly, I would have been obliterated."

Reaching behind the driver's seat, I grabbed a small flashlight and turned it on, instantly illuminating the driver's cabin. Although everything appeared intact, there was no power. Even the emergency backup power had failed. Although the condition of the car was not my primary concern, I was most anxious to understand the situation outside.

I discovered a lever under the steering wheel and pulled it down forcefully.

Huh!

The steel armor in front of the windshield suddenly cracked, creating a small gap. Through this gap, I opened a shoebox-sized skylight. I had designed and remodeled King Kong with the lack of energy in mind, which is why there were manually opened sunroofs in the window glass.

Finally, I could see the outside world through this window.

It was an abyss of darkness.

The sky was filled with flying sand and rocks, and the warehouse square that once bordered tall walls was now an empty expanse. No trace of the wall could be seen, and the flying stones crashed onto the ground, creating a cloud of smoke and dust that surrounded King Kong with a crackling sound.

This was truly a scene from the doomsday.

I closed the armor at the windshield and cautiously made my way to the back of the driver's seat. I opened the compartment door, stepping into the storage container behind. Over time, I had transformed the truck into a combination of a chariot and a motorhome. The containers were widened, heightened, and thickened, and packed with essential supplies such as canned meat, compressed biscuits, flour, honey, chocolate, essential medicines, generators, and wild survival tools.

As a senior member of an outdoor survival group, I had often discussed with others what items to bring for the end of days, and I had made sure to be fully prepared.

There were sunroofs that could be opened on the sides and rear of the car.

I opened the sunroof.

Once again, I was taken aback. The rear sunroof, which was previously used to access the tin can warehouse, now revealed an empty space with only a few load-bearing columns standing alone. The warehouse had vanished, and one of the columns was bent at a ninety-degree angle.

The dark sky in the distance was occasionally illuminated by meteors passing by, providing a hint of light amidst the darkness.

As I gazed upon this doomsday scene, a sense of helplessness washed over me. I had imagined various scenarios of the end of the world, from zombies to technological collapse, mutant creatures to alien invasions. But I never expected that a meteor shower would bring about such devastation.

However, I remained uncertain whether this meteor shower was confined to a local area or if the entire planet was affected.

In this calamity, I could only rely on King Kong to survive.

Fortunately, I didn't have to worry about food and water, as King Kong was carefully designed to accommodate my needs. Although it occupied much of the space originally designated for materials, there was still enough room for me to move around comfortably. I had even installed a treadmill for exercise, making it a comprehensive fitness solution.

As the wind and sand continued to rage outside, I began to regain my composure after a brief moment of absence.

I was more concerned about the uncertain future and the mysterious connection I felt with the Vajra. It brought about mixed feelings of hesitation and anticipation.

Inside the cramped space, which could easily suffocate an active person, I found solace. For me, who had spent the last six years living in confined quarters, this was a familiar environment. I settled into my routine, eating, sleeping, exercising, observing the storm, and exploring the connection with King Kong.

In the midst of the doomsday storm, the only sound that resonated was the ticking of a mechanical watch, marking the passage of time. Half a month passed in a flash.

During the storm, the phenomenon seemed to engulf everything, with rubble hitting King Kong's armor and creating a cacophony of harsh sounds.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, I held a Geiger counter in my hand, carefully examining the radiation levels inside the car. Twenty-two months ago, when the end of days arrived, I had discovered that the radiation concentration inside the car had reached 320 micro sieverts, surpassing the standard levels for alpha particles, beta particles, gamma rays, and X-rays. It was nearly equivalent to the radiation content of the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. Thankfully, this concentration did not pose any immediate harm to humans.

Once, I had pushed the Geiger counter out of the car window and discovered that the radiation concentration was as high as 5 millisieverts, or 5000 microsieverts. Although short-term exposure to this level of radiation wouldn't cause severe harm, prolonged exposure would have significant consequences.

For the past half a month, the doomsday storm had raged on relentlessly. Those who were unprotected would have likely suffered the consequences of this disaster.

But little by little, there was a glimmer of hope emerging.

I noticed that the radiation concentration inside and outside the car had been decreasing, and the intensity of the storm seemed to have diminished. It appeared that the wind might finally come to a stop.

I murmured to myself, "Patience, the wind will calm down."

This patience lasted for another half a month.

After a full month of enduring the storm, it should have been June 17, 2022, when the storm abruptly ceased. The crackling noises outside the car disappeared, and I, sitting in the driver's cab with a mysterious connection to King Kong, felt a mixture of discomfort and anticipation.

I took out the Geiger counter and cautiously stuck it out of the car. Although the radiation levels were several times higher than normal, they were no longer at levels that would cause immediate harm to humans.

Taking a deep breath, I carefully opened the armor and prepared to step out of the Vajra-like vehicle.
