This time, they weren't cutting a basketful to send down the mountain per trip, but rather cutting a large pile all at once, then spreading it on the ground to dry. In just one morning's time, it could be half dried. In this way, they could pack more grass of the same weight and volume.

The four baskets from the morning were even more than the previous five, a more efficient yield. When brought down the mountain, just drying them a bit more would allow them to be stacked together, waiting for the harvest to be over before being chopped into small sections, bagged in burlap sacks, and stored inside as fodder for the livestock's winter.
