Kapitel 122: Quick Save

"Ready for this?" the shorter guy said with a menacing smile.

Suddenly, a blood-curdling scream echoed from behind us, causing the man to whip his head around in alarm. Seizing the opportunity, I effortlessly slipped my hands from the poorly tied restraints and landed a solid punch on the shorter guy, pushing him away from me.

"What the fuck?! Didn't you tie him up well?!" he snapped at his accomplice, his voice filled with panic.

"I didn't think it would matter since we drugged him!"

"Dammit! Just give up!" the other one shouted back, struggling to regain control.

The door then slammed open, revealing a bloodied but furious Jasper. I felt a wave of worry seeing him covered in blood, but there were no visible wounds on him that I could see. He looked more enraged than I had ever seen him—more than I thought he was capable of being.

"Last time we graciously let you off the hook," Jasper growled, his voice seething with anger. "Now you want to do this? Seems like everyone in your line of business can't figure out when to quit!"

I couldn't help but find his fury incredibly attractive.

"We... didn't—" the shorter man began to protest weakly.

"Shut up," Jasper interrupted sharply, pointing his weapon at the tall guy behind me and firing. I flinched, expecting the worst, but the tall guy simply fell to the floor limply, incapacitated but alive—it was a beanbag gun!

How clever!

Seeing his partner down, the shorter guy panicked and sprinted toward a window, attempting to escape. Jasper, quicker and more determined, intercepted him effortlessly and threw him over the desk. Jasper then made sure to maintain eye contact as he aimed his gun, emphasizing his control over the situation.

"Wait! We—we can make another deal!" the man pleaded desperately as Jasper trained the gun on him.

"Sugar? Do you want to make another deal with him?" Jasper asked, turning to me. His expression was intense, almost wild, signaling that whatever I said won't really change his next actions. I knew there was no real choice in his question.

"I don't care what you do to Emily's people," I shrugged, giving him the go-ahead without directly involving myself.

Jasper pressed the gun against the man's shoulder and pulled the trigger. The sound of the gun firing was almost drowned out by the man's loud, desperate scream. "We weren't going to kill him! I was just going to play with him a little!" he begged, his voice cracking with fear.

"Well, you played with someone who doesn't belong to you," Jasper snapped back, his voice cold and unforgiving. "My baby showed you mercy the first time and this is how you repay that? Luckily, everything here has been recorded."

"What?!" the man exclaimed, his fear escalating.

"Emily chose the stupidest people to do her dirty work, and you just revealed that she's dealing drugs. Funny how you brought down your own gang by talking too much! I couldn't have thought you'd get any stupider," Jasper taunted, reveling in the man's shocked expression.

"What are you doing?!" the man yelled, his panic reaching a peak.

"I'm sending everyone a message of what happens when you mess with what's mine," Jasper declared, pulling the trigger again. The room fell silent except for the thud of another bullet hitting its mark.

"Jasper..." I began, unsure of what to say.

"They aren't dead," Jasper quickly reassured me, noticing my concern. "I hit them in strategic places with beanbags. They won't even bleed out internally."

Oh, thank God! It would be a hassle to cover up three dead bodies. "Okay, sorry for not calling out for help. I thought this would be more fun," I admitted, feeling a bit foolish now.

"You think putting yourself in danger is fun? Something really bad could've happened to you!" Jasper scolded sharply. "I thought a CEO was smarter than that! Do you have shit for brains? Or do you just not want to live anymore?"

His words stung a bit, but I knew he was right. I had let my curiosity and love for chaos get the better of me, risking more than I should have.

I guess I wasn't unstoppable.

I felt like i was going absolutely nuts confronted by Jasper's aggression! I was about to burst out laughing and crying. I felt unable to contain the bizarre exhilaration bubbling inside me despite the gravity of the situation. My heart raced—not just from fear, but from an odd thrill at Jasper's swift and tactical takedown. It had to be the drugs they fed me; I was losing my mind.

"I didn't realize this would turn you on," Jasper remarked sarcastically, clearly misunderstanding my reaction.

"Cut the shit," I said defensively, as he kneeled down to check for any visible injuries on me. I winced when he gently touched the back of my head.

"It's swelling outward so you should be fine," Jasper sighed with relief, then shifted his focus. "Now what the hell did they feed you?"

"I don't know, they said they injected me with something while I was out," I explained.

Jasper shone a bright flashlight into my eye, checking my reaction. "Your pupils are pretty dilated, most likely it's a stimulant."

"Ugh, then why do I feel sleepy?" I questioned, confused by my body's mixed signals.

"Stimulants sometimes boost your levels of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. These neurotransmitters in your brain can calm and relax you so you can focus better. You'll be getting a bit sensitive soon. Luckily they didn't overdose you. This stuff looks pretty strong," Jasper explained, his voice laced with concern.

"What do you think it is?" I asked, trying to gauge the severity of the situation.

"Ecstasy, maybe something else, and a concussion," Jasper concluded with a frown.

"Then get me out of here so you can help me," I ordered, eager to leave the grimy surroundings. "I don't want to be here when the police arrive."

"Nobody else is coming. I've left a tip with Sam to be brought forward so they can swiftly take Emily down for good. She'll be exposed very publicly," Jasper revealed, ensuring that justice would be served.

This revelation was beyond exciting—perhaps it was the drugs talking, but I was loving this to an absurd degree. The smell of Jasper replacing the moldy staleness of the room, and his every movement, seemed far too arousing to be real.

"What about them?" I gestured towards the knocked-out guys.

"At most the beanbag broke a few bones, and I might've caused some permanent eye damage to the guy who was touching you. They'll wake up but they won't die," Jasper assured me.

I reached out to pull him close for a kiss, desperate for some relief through his touch, but Jasper pulled back slightly and instead scooped me up in his arms. "At least let me take you back home first. There I can take a blood sample and send it for analysis. I won't do anything here though. Our top priority is making sure it wasn't some kind of poison," he insisted, his concern evident.

I was too overwhelmed to argue, my body burning up with a mixture of adrenaline and the unknown drug coursing through my veins. I felt more insatiable than ever before. I needed Jasper, more than I thought possible. "Just hurry up and get us home already!" I urged, my voice thick with a mixture of frustration and desire.

"Yes sir!" Jasper sprinted out of the abandoned building and into the street, where a car door was already swung open waiting for us. Sam was sitting in the driver's seat, and his expression shifted to one of surprise as he caught sight of my condition.

"So that's why you took the body-cam off," Sam muttered, rolling his eyes as Jasper climbed into the backseat beside me and pulled out a surprisingly comprehensive first aid kit.

"Yeah, technically, I'm still on the clock today."

"What the fuck do you have all that for?" Sam exclaimed, his eyes widening at the sight of the medical supplies.

"I'm prepared for every situation," Jasper responded tersely, his focus entirely on me as he gently covered my eyes with one hand and skillfully inserted a needle into my arm to draw blood. "There, all done."

"Why's he got a stiffy?" Sam asked, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.

"Shut up! Stop looking at him and drive us home," Jasper snapped, his cheeks tinged with red from frustration or embarrassment, or perhaps both.

"Shouldn't we take him to the hospital to check his head?" Sam suggested, a note of concern creeping into his voice as he started the car.

"Call Dr. Schmidt. Tell him to meet us at home," I instructed, trying to keep my voice steady despite the discomfort.

"Ok," Jasper murmured, pulling out his phone and quickly dialing the number. He was always so efficient, so ready for anything. It was one of the things I—despite everything—admired about him.

As the car sped towards home, I couldn't help but wonder what the analysis would reveal about the substance coursing through my veins. Was it merely a stimulant, or something more sinister? And what would the repercussions be for Emily and her goons once the police got involved? As these thoughts swirled in my head, I felt Jasper's steady presence beside me, a constant in the chaos that my life had become.

The thirst was so real!
