Kapitel 3: System Initializing…

The red cloud drifted at the wary elf and went through his orifices before he could react–through his mouth, nose and even eyes.

"Ahh!" Finrod wailed, he crouched in pain.

He then stood back up, his eyes glowed red and his face seemed fierced. He crouched again, seemingly struggling against the demon's possession.

"Leave yourself to me, surrender creature. Surrender or die." The voice echoed in Finrod's mind.

He brought up his hands tightly pressing against his ear, still crouching. A red light aura was visibly growing and emanating from him and there, Finrod had a flashback–one of his time with his people, his picking of fruits, feeding of animals, his worship, his parents and those who had shown romantic interest in him–his life was practically flashing before his eyes.

There, he realized that he had to live, that he must, not just for himself but for the people and for the goddess who although he tired of worshipping, loved.

He screamed, his fists were clenched in resistance and he forcefully thrust up his head in protest. His eyes were now a darker red, a red streaks streamed from them, he had bust a few vessels.

His veins strained against the skin of his face and arms and he found new strength to resist the occupation.

And there, with will he overcame the control of the demon swinging his arms apart in protest.

"No!" The demon cried before it faded into obscurity within Finrod.

Finrod brought his arms observing them, he felt his body different, there was surprisingly to him sufficient energy to go on, likely more than sufficient.

He turned his head about seeing the carnage that occurred and a thought came across his mind, 'Mother, Father.'

He ran forward to the dilapidated huts, ignoring the monstrosity that happened around him with a clear goal in mind, to save his parents.

He went past a couple of huts and luckily the demons had avoided that area, he spotted some kids hoarded together at the edge of a fallen home trying their best to not make noise lest they attract the red creatures.

After many steps, he spotted his hut which still stood and he stood at the door. His breathing hurried and his body shook–there was a silence that he didn't like.

He opened the thatched door and walked in and there, just at the other end laid the bodies of his parents in a pool of blood, there were knives by their hands and Finrod could see the cut by their necks– they had committed suicide.

They had young faces just like he did for they weren't quite old as well, just a little beyond a century.

Finrod fell on his feet, his mouth shaking and bloodied tears poured from his eyes. He arched his back and cried without worry.

Then he bent his back resting his head on the ground and continued sobbing. They must have thought him dead to have committed suicide and why wouldn't they?

After ten minutes, after exhausting the energy he had for tears, his glabella creased and his hands were clenched in anger.

He was angry, very angry, anger like never before brewed within him and as it did, a red aura emanated.

He stood up and turned to the other side where multiple weapons hung on the wall.

He walked to them and there, he eyed a beautiful sword, a family heirloom passed down by his grandfather who according to the stories his father told was a formidable warrior and a smith.

The unsheathed sword had an attractive sheen and it had writings beautifying it that Finrod didn't understand.

He instinctively grabbed the pommel of the double-edged blade, and there it happened, a message appeared in his mind as a tab.

[System Initializing…]

[A large mana pool has been detected within you and you have achieved requirements needed to attain these classes:]

[Healer: With your kindness and the energy within you, your feeling of compassion extended to others shall materialize and take form, and you shall save lives]

[Warrior: Brutish and powerful, with weapon in hand you shall cleave through your enemies staining your blade with their blood.]

[Magic Swordsman: Sword in hand and Mana in body, you shall strike your enemies with new powers that go beyond the strength of one's strikes]

[Mage: Master the mystic arts and expand in knowledge, use the great energy stored within you to bend the laws of the world]

[Battle Mage: A Battle Mage is destined to see countless battles. You shall wield mana offensively and defeat those in your way.]

Those options materialized in his mind as floating tabs and he wondered:

"What are classes?"

He stood for a few minutes trying to assess his new situation and to rationalize them.

"I guess I have no choice. The warrior class looks very attractive, I want nothing more than to shred the bodies of the demons."

He was about to pick it when another thought came to his mind

'The system mentions that I have mana, the class description makes no reference to it. What if the class doesn't have any use for the energy? I certainly can't just let it go to waste.'

He cupped his chin, tapping it with his index finger as he was lost in thought.

Blood still poured from his eyes albeit little.

"I have decided." He declared.

"I choose the Battle Mage class."

The system responded.

[Will recognized and request granted]

Suddenly, a warm sensation bloomed from within. He held his chest and fell to his knees.

Pain seared through him and his veins turned orange and glowed beneath his pale skin.

The process happened for close to thirty minutes, he learnt to stifle his cry so he doesn't attract any demon. The pain was great but then it passed.

He panted and then he began to slowly inhale and exhale and the hotness began to lessen.

Then it was no more and he felt a new strength within him, his breathing was much lighter than it had ever been and his vision was better.

He felt strangely rejuvenated.

"What's this power?"
