"Who sent them?" Bel knew it was a waste of breath to ask, and from the look on Giselle's face, she wasn't the only one thinking that. Who else would send them except a certain barbarian.
Giselle closed the door behind Bel and cleared her throat delicately. "They are from His Highness, Princess. He wished to surprise you."
Bel stood directly in front of the couch, surrounded by the overwhelming scent of roses, trying to keep her composure. "A surprise," she repeated flatly. "Well, he certainly succeeded."
She was more shocked by the sheer quantity of flowers than by the gesture itself. She doubted there was a garden of roses in some corner of Darkcrypt she was unaware of. Still, it was impressive that he had gotten her this many roses. If it were someone else, she might have been impressed, but considering it was Davien, all she felt was disgust. Did he really think he could charm her with flowers?
