Bel opened her eyes and was greeted with a flash of bright light, immediately followed by pain all over her body. She blinked, trying to get her bearings. It took only a second to realize she was looking at the ceiling of her four-poster bed.
She was in Davien chambers, the last thing she could remember was Davien bleeding and rushing towards her then everything went black. Did he bring her back?
Bel tried to sit up, but Davien's voice reached her first. "Don't move," he said.
Bel turned her head, realizing for the first time that she wasn't alone. "Davien," she yelled, but it only came out as a whisper. Her throat felt tight.
"In the flesh," he replied, giving her a fanged smile.
She pulled her gaze away from him and looked around. "I'm back here," she said. "What happened?"
"I brought you back," he said, his eyes turning to slits. "As for what happened, I'm sure you can guess."
