Kapitel 5: Chapter 5

As the sun filtered through the ornate halls, its golden rays reflected on the shimmering walls adorned with celestial engravings and glowing hieroglyphs. Merlin emerged from the private chambers, his robes now meticulously arranged, though a hint of disarray betrayed the moments he had shared with Hathor. Beside him, the goddess of love and music radiated warmth, her laughter soft yet teasing as she entwined her fingers with his, clearly reveling in his momentary discomfort.

Horus, leaning casually against a pillar, caught sight of the pair and greeted them with a knowing smile that bordered on mischievous. "Father is waiting for you," he said, his tone light but laced with meaning.

Merlin, shifting uneasily, adjusted the folds of his robe. "Thank you, Horus," he replied, his voice betraying a touch of embarrassment.

Hathor, unbothered, tightened her grip on Merlin's hand, her playful grin growing wider as she clearly enjoyed his flustered state.

Horus chuckled softly and turned, motioning for them to follow. The trio made their way through the expansive palace, their footsteps echoing against the marble floors. Intricate murals adorned the walls, depicting the victories of the gods and the balance they maintained across the realms. The air carried the faint melody of distant harps, as if the palace itself hummed with divine energy.

They arrived at the grand throne room, where Osiris and Isis presided over their respective domains. The sight was majestic: Osiris sat tall on his throne, his commanding presence amplified by the golden glow of his intricate crown and armor. Beside him, Isis radiated elegance and wisdom, her turquoise-embellished crown and intricate robes glimmering like the morning star.

As Merlin entered, their faces lit up with welcoming smiles. "Welcome back, Merlin," Osiris said, his deep, resonant voice filling the room.

Merlin inclined his head respectfully and replied, "Thank you, my liege."

Isis's expression softened, though a slight frown creased her brow. "Don't be so formal with us," she chided gently, her voice as soothing as a spring breeze.

Merlin straightened, his lips curling into an easy smile. "Of course," he said, his tone lighter now.

Osiris then spoke up."Also, you don't always have to bring the potion for us, we only need it when in times of great need."

Merlin nodded, as they discussed about Merlin's travels and stuff.

As the conversation with Osiris and Isis concluded, Merlin exchanged farewells with the divine family. He kissed Hathor gently on the cheek, her playful smile lingering as he departed. The streets of Egypt stretched before him, bustling with life and echoing with the chatter of merchants and citizens. Yet, despite his familiarity with the city, Merlin found himself wandering into unfamiliar territory.

The towering silhouette of a mansion soon loomed before him. Its facade was adorned with intricate carvings and statues dedicated to Set, their fierce countenances glaring down as if to warn any trespasser. Merlin paused, his keen eyes catching the subtle details that marked the mansion as belonging to a devout follower of Set. His curiosity piqued, he ventured closer, spotting an entourage entering the gates.

Among them stood a striking figure—Urshu. A man in his 30s, with a physique honed by years of military service. His presence exuded authority and fear, his sharp gaze capable of cutting through steel. Urshu's reputation as a former war hero and one of the most ruthless men in Egypt preceded him. Beside him, his Overseers followed like shadows, their silent obedience a testament to his dominance.

As Urshu entered his grand home, Merlin's attention shifted to a young woman inside. She moved with grace as she tidied the lavishly decorated room. Zaya, her name whispered by the winds, was breathtaking. Her light brown skin glowed in the sunlight filtering through the open window. Her almond-shaped eyes, framed by dark lashes, darted quickly as she gathered scattered parchment scrolls knocked over by a sudden gust of wind. Her delicate features and athletic build belied the harsh life of servitude she endured.

Urshu's sharp voice broke the moment. "You don't control the wind," he said curtly, his tone laced with irritation as he strode toward the window and slammed it shut. "But I'd think you could close a window."

Zaya bowed her head, her voice trembling. "I'm sorry, my lord."

Urshu's frown deepened as he scanned the room, his gaze falling on the disordered table. "And why is my meal unprepared?" he demanded.

"I will get it ready, my lord," Zaya stammered, backing away. But before she could leave, Urshu's hand shot out, gripping her wrist. She winced in pain, her eyes widening in fear.

"If I ever find this room disordered again," he said coldly, "I'll throw you outside to push stone."

Zaya nodded quickly, her terror evident. Urshu released her with a sneer, turning back to the room. Before the tension could settle, a calm yet commanding voice interrupted.

"How about I buy her from you, since she troubles you so much?" Merlin's tone was deceptively casual, his piercing gaze fixed on Urshu.

Urshu turned, his annoyance evident. "Who are you to—" His words faltered as recognition dawned. The color drained from his face as he realized who stood before him. Merlin, the sorcerer favored by Osiris and Isis, stood tall and unyielding.

Urshu swallowed hard, his bravado crumbling. "She is no trouble, my lord," he muttered, his voice shaking. "You may take her as a gift if you wish."

Merlin stepped forward, his expression unreadable as he regarded Urshu and then Zaya. "Thank you, I will take her off your hands," he said, his tone carrying an unspoken warning. Urshu nodded hastily, stepping aside as Merlin extended his hand toward Zaya, who hesitated briefly before taking it, her eyes filled with a mixture of awe and gratitude.
