"I am perfectly fine, really," Ren stressed, repeating the same line for the fifth time.

His tone was light, but there was a helpless smile on his lips. He was speaking to Terim.

Ren had an IV drip in his hand. So, Kade held the communicator for him so he could talk more easily.

However, rather than talk it was more like getting scolded by the angry young master and repeating the same words... I am fine.

Terim, on the other end, wasn't buying it. "You're an idiot if you think I believe that," he snapped. "You nearly died, Rion. Do you even understand how reckless that was?"

Ren rolled his eyes. "It wasn't that bad," he replied calmly.

Though the dull pain spreading in his limbs contradicted his wording.

The longer Terim and Ren talked, the more Kade's face darkened. His brows furrowed. The sharp gaze he kept fixed on Ren turned more intense with each passing second.
