Oriana led the way, her eyes fixed on the warm glow of the inn's lanterns in front of them. The sign creaked in the gentle breeze, reading, Merry Mug Inn. The voices of the people inside echoed outside.
Pushing open the door, the trio stepped inside, welcomed by the warm, cozy atmosphere. The room fell silent as all eyes turned to the newcomers, but after a brief, uninterested glance, the patrons collectively shrugged and returned to their lively chatter.
"Don't look anyone in the eyes," Oriana whispered to Freya before they walked straight to the counter.
The innkeeper, a stubby man with a quick smile, greeted them. "Welcome, travelers! Room for three?"
Oriana nodded, handing over the pouch the kind noblewoman had given them. "Yes, please. We need a place to rest for the night." When she said this her stomach rumbled, reminding her that she haven't had a proper meal in the past few days.
"And food. . ." She completed.
