Was it possible for Vinn to ask her tears to stop flowing? Because they would not stop. Like a waterfall, they kept on spilling, staining her cheeks with wetness.
How foolish of her to think that she had finally hardened her heart. How foolish of her to think that she was now unfeeling.
Vinn finally found the courage to dislodge her leg from the floor, stepping forward to Astrid. She outstretched her arms, touching the dragon's eyes. She thought of a spell, and nothing came to her.
In truth, she had trained so hard with Marenda over the years, but the rigorous exercises had only served to show Vinn how pitifully small her sorcery powers were. Besides contouring a few powerful shields and performing some meager spells that could only be termed trickery, Vinn truly knew not much more.
This chapter and the previous was VERY hard for me to write, perhaps that is why I have only found the courage to post it 17 days after my last update. A lot of emotions I had to wade through for this one.
To everyone who waited patiently, thank you. I hope I did this scene the justice it deserves.
