Vinnandra fiercely fought against the snare of unconsciousness that tried to bury her. A terrible headache came over her as she struggled to lift her finger to the dagger strapped to her waist.

Her body was weak, but her spirit was roaring. So much so that the sight of herself sprawled on the ground like that filled her with anger.

She willed the fog in her eyes to clear so she could see the man better. Clad in inconspicuous white dress, the man had black locs like Alakan's, but his were longer, almost reaching his waistline. Unlike Alakan's black skin, this man was light brown skinned, and he was poorly dressed for the cold.

And yet, he didn't shiver.
