"Seems like more food has appeared for me to eat."
A strange humanoid creature was currently in front of Kana. It looked like a regular human, except that its eyes were completely red, and he had a pair of horns on his head. His skin was also a greenish color.
Both Koji and me stood frozen on the spot, completely baffled by the situation.
I had expected that she suffered some accident, or that maybe someone tried to hurt her, but I wasn't expecting some humanoid monster to be the cause of the scream.
'What exactly is that?' I wasn't sure what type of creature it was, or how strong it was. Due to his words I could assume that he eats humans, which is bad news but nothing surprising.
The orb entity said he would choose the world I was sent to, and having given me these powers I wouldn't be sent to a peaceful world.
'Wait, powers?'
My thoughts were interrupted once again by the voice of the creature.
"Now, who shall I eat first?"
He looked between the three of us. Both father and daughter were frozen by fear, which I could understand. Being a regular human, getting attacked like this by some monster would be one of the worst things that could happen.
But for me that wasn't the case.
"Hey, what are you?" I decided to go with the most straightforward way of figuring out what he was, asking him. I wasn't afraid of him, so I could do this.
"Mm? You can speak? How surprising." it crackled. "Usually they are either frozen by fear or trying to run away."
I shrugged my shoulders. "I'm not scared. So, what are you?"
The creature laughed loudly, and the father-daughter duo looked between me and the monster, probably surprised at my conversation with it.
"What I am you ask? I'm a demon!" it looked at me, its eyes glimmering with a fierce light. "I'm what a pathetic human like you will never be. And you, will be my meal."
The moment it finished talking it dashed towards me. He was fast, fast enough that I wouldn't have been able to react had I been a normal human.
Koji and Kana looked in horror as he approached me, barely able to react to the demon's movement.
"What?!"
To the surprise of everyone here, what should've occurred didn't happen.
I held the arm the demon wanted to held me with, holding him in place. I smiled at him.
"Who are you?" he screamed in confusion, trying to free his arm from my grasp.
I didn't let him get away. "I'm just like you."
At that moment he realized the changes that happened to my appearance.
"That..."
A pair of horns had grown on my head, which looked more majestic in comparison to the demon's.
"You're a demon? How?" he roared.
I could understand his confusion. These demons probably could sense the presence of another or something, and he had made a judgment of me as a "human". But I didn't play by whatever rules he did.
Without saying another word, he tried to punch me his with free hand. I pushed away the arm I was holding, throwing him off-balance. Then, I punched him straight in the face.
The force of my punch send him flying away. He ended up crashing on the wall, breaking it as well.
"Now that's what I'm talking about." The first use of my newfound power was satisfactory for me.
It would seem that dealing with the pest wouldn't be a big deal for me.
The demon stood up, his eyes looked at me with clear anger.
"You caught me off-guard, but not anymore. You will regret going against me."
It seemed like this demon didn't have much analytical capability, as he wants to fight me after I tossed him to the wall.
"Very well, I shall teach you some manners, little imp."
Now that I didn't have to pretend to be someone I'm not, my cringe-worthy lines kept coming up.
He dashed towards me once more, this time taking me seriously. He went for a punch to my face, which I sidestepped without problem.
Then a kick came for my abdomen, which I blocked with my left palm. Then, before he could react, I did a jump kick to his chest.
His face twisted in pain, but he tried going for a grab to my leg. I used my other leg, and deflected his hand with a kick.
I landed on the floor, and made a dash towards him. I made a punching motion to his face, and he went for a block. But the punch was only a feint.
I stopped my punch, and went for another one with my other hand, punching him in the gut.
"How's that you moron?" I laughed at him.
"You!" he tried another attack with his hands, but I deflected them without breaking a sweat.
Just to add salt to his injury, I made a rotational jump kick, which landed perfectly on his now deformed face.
I wasn't sure what weakness it had, but going for the head tends to work.
The demon crashed into another wall, this time not breaking it completely.
I stood on the spot, looking down at him with a smile on my face.
"Come on, is that all you have? Don't you have some special skill or something?" I taunted him.
He stood up, then he looked around the room while I waited. Then, he ran away.
I was momentarily surprised for a moment, but then I chased him down.
"Where do you think you're going?!" I screamed while laughing at him.
He didn't even look back to me, too focused on getting away. But his struggles were futile.
I caught up to him in no time, and appeared in front of him, blocking his path forward.
"There's nowhere left for you to run, weakling."
His eyes scanned around, hoping to find a path to escape from me. It seems that his self-preservation instincts were stronger than his pride.
"Why don't you fight me?" I kept taunting him. "Though you already lost."
"Who are you? Why do you fight me?" he questioned me.
"You mean why a demon would attack another demon?" I put my index finger on my chin.
"Yeah, that! I don't understand." I could see that his whole body was tense. This may have been the first time he has faced someone as powerful as me.
"Why, you ask." I spread out my hands. "Because I want to. I don't need another reason other than that."
The demon looked at me, probably baffled by my answer.
"That's how I live. If I want to do it; I do it." I shrugged my shoulders. "And right now I don't plan on keeping you alive."
He didn't respond to my words, but his agitation was clear for me to see. Without any clear path to escape, he dashed in a random direction, hoping to get away from me.
"Didn't I tell you? You've already..." I disappeared from the spot, grabbing him by the shoulder. "...lost."
"Get away from me!" he tried to free himself, but it was once again useless.
"Now, a slave shouldn't be telling its master what to do, am I right?" I said in quiet tone.
"Huh?" his previously panicked face became blank. A collar appeared on his neck, with a chain that was attached to me.
Letting go of his shoulder, he knelt down on one knee, bowing his head my way. I patted his head.
"Now, that's how a slave should treat its master." I looked down at him in the eye. "Say, do you know about the existence of Demon Slayer corps?"
The reason why I left him alive was for this, to get some information. The possibility that I saw likely was that I was sent to the world of Demon Slayer, so I figured if they existed he may know about them.
"Yes, I have killed one of their members before." he answered with an even tone.
"Oh? Do tell me more about that."
"Well, technically he was a retired member. He was of old age already, and so he wasn't too much of a threat. I fought with him and defeated him without problems."
"I see, but how did you know he was a retired demon slayer?" I was curious.
"He screamed about how despite having retired from the Demon Slayers Corps, he could still deal with me. He was protecting his family, which I also killed."
"Interesting." I rubbed my chin. "He used breathing techniques, right?"
"Yeah, he did." he nodded.
"That's good to know." I chuckled. "That's mystery solved, I hope."
