Sebastian braced himself as the Marrowghast Sentinel's sword descended upon him with renewed fury.

At that point, the creature's movements were a blur for Sebastian, with its ancient weapon crashing against Lament with bone-rattling force.

The rune master gritted his teeth, his arms aching from the strain of parrying the strike.

Calvin and Leo darted around the Sentinel, their weapons leaving shallow gashes on the creature's bony limbs.

That was, of course, if the creature allowed them to do so.

It was starting to do this more and more often since it realized the two undead weren't strong enough to leave more than shallow wounds. If those could be called wounds.

The Sentinel paid them little heed, its singular focus being on Sebastian, the only creature that could pose a threat to him.

The only living creature among his opponents.

Suddenly, the Sentinel's sword came crashing down again, and Sebastian barely avoided the strike in time.
