Chapter XXVII: Agendas.
Last Time.
"It's not for you. It's for me. It's who I am inside." Naruto smiled at her before speaking.
"I know M'gann, you can take any form you want," he whispered in her ear, "But you'll always be beautiful to me." M'gann pulled back a bit and shifted back to her regular form before looking toward Marie.
"Please don't be mad." Marie walked to her and smiled.
"Mad? I'm honored! M'gann, you saved my son. Once I told him what you did for him, he told me that you're his blood sister now... We're family." Naruto smiled before walking out to talk to Batman over the radio as Miss Martian walked to check on Garfield.
"You going to tell her that you faked being unconscious? I know with her fears she forgot stuff like that doesn't work on you. Or the 'You' that helped her inside her mind was actually you?" Kurama asked through their link as Naruto sighed.
"No, when she's ready she'll tell me."
In the hall, Miss Martian walked to Garfield's door opened it, and gasped seeing Queen Bee lying beside a sleeping Garfield. "Shh, we don't want to wake him. Good job playing me... Even if it was over the top." Miss Martian's eyes glowed as Bee put a hand on Garfield's head. "Now, now. We don't want anything to happen to him. I've already given him orders to do so, should anything happen to me."
"What do you want?" Miss Martian asked glaring at Bee.
Bee walked over to her and whispered in her ear. "I know your true form... And unless you want your friends to find out... You'll cooperate."
Now.
Gotham; Naruto's Penthouse, November 25, 5:00 EST.
Naruto groaned as his alarm went off. He felt a weight on him and looked down to see messy blonde hair. "Morning Artemis." He said as she groaned.
"No~, it's too early for 'Good Morning'. We just got done with our... 'Activities'. Right now, I can't feel anything from the waist down, I need sleep." He chuckled before moving out from under Artemis, getting her to groan. "I was comfy."
He got dressed before kissing her. "Sorry... Meeting with the League at seven since a few of the members live up there. I'll be back for the meal tonight so don't worry."
Naruto finished putting his vest and coat on. He walked out and saw Diana walk out in her trunks putting her bustier on.
The Watchtower; November 25, 6:54 EST.
Kage stood with Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman outside the meeting room looking at the forest on the lower floor. "Times like these... One feels the very weight of the World on our shoulders." Wonder Woman said before Aquaman walked out.
"Everyone is here."
They walked in and saw the other League members sitting at a 'U' shaped table with a holo-keyboard, and a screen in front of them. "Our agenda is clear. What's at stake should not be underestimated." Aquaman said looking at the others before Superman spoke.
"The decisions we make today will reverberate for years to come." Wonder Woman spoke up after Superman finished.
"And influence whether or not the World will continue to trust the Justice League."
"Let's get started. We have work to do." Batman finished just as the screens lit up.
Naruto and the others sat at the bend with Black Canary sitting by Naruto on his left, and Wonder Woman on his right. As Naruto sat down, he felt Canary rest her hand on his and smiled at him as Wonder Woman held his right hand. "Another expansion of the League could generate another exhalation from our enemies." Martian Manhunter said standing up. "No one wants... Or needs another Injustice League. Or the 'Light'." He finished before Superman spoke up.
"Point taken, but the option is available to vote no on all candidates. So, I nominate Icon."
An image of Icon came up in the middle of the table. "Why? Because you suspect Icon to be Kryptonian like you thought Captain Marvel was?" Green Arrow said looking at Superman before Marvel spoke up.
"You thought I was Kryptonian? Cool!"
Wonder Woman leaned to speak to Superman. "Icon interests me also. As does his protégé Rocket." Rocket replaced Icon before she continued. "Athena knows we could use more females on the League." That got a positive reaction from Hawkwoman and Canary as some of the men looked at Naruto.
"What… I'm not going to argue with her... Besides we can use some more ho-!" He stopped as Wonder Woman moved her arm over and Naruto suddenly started speaking in a higher octave. "We can certainly use more women in the League!"
Mount Justice; November 25, 10:25 EST.
Donna, wearing a black turtleneck sweater and jeans, walked from the oven holding two pies as Zatanna seasoned the turkey for the Thanksgiving meal later that day. "Yelsrap egas yramesor dna emyht! (Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.)"
M'gann was wearing a pink apron with a heart on the chest levitated the turkey to the oven just as Wally sped out grabbing a hand full of food.
"Wally!" M'gann yelled before hearing Zatanna sniff, and wipe her eyes.
"I'm sorry, it's just... this is my first Thanksgiving without Dad." She said as M'gann walked over and put her hands on Zatanna's shoulders, before hugging her.
Suddenly, Wolf and Superboy winced as he covered his ears. Donna looked at him as he got up, and left. "Conner? Hey! Wait up!" She yelled taking off her shirt showing she was wearing her costume underneath.
The Watchtower November 25, 11:15 EST.
"Seriously? The Atom? How useful can he be at that size?"
Captain Marvel asked as an image of a very small man in a blue, and red costume with bright red lines was up on the holo-screen.
"It's the size that makes him useful." Flash nodded before speaking.
"Absolutely and the League can use more raw power. And Earth has a third Green Lantern. Guy Gardner."
Guy is a muscular Caucasian male with short red hair and green eyes. He's wearing black pants and a black sleeveless shirt with a green front. The symbol of the Green Lantern is featured in the middle. He has black fingerless gloves and a power ring.
"No!" Both John and Hal said quickly before Flash spoke up.
"But we could really-!" They once again interrupted him.
"No!"
"Flash, you need to realize that Hal and John have their own opinions on what they think of Green Lantern Guy Gardner. From what I have heard so far, he is somewhat liked amongst the corps, but he is hated by the rest. He is very arrogant and selfish that I even witnessed him one time to only save several people to gain more fame and to chase some tail."
"I don't know what else there is to him, but I think Hal and John have the final say since they are his superiors in this sector," Naruto stated gaining thankful looks from Hal and John before the discussions continued.
Washington D.C. November 25, 11:28 EST.
Superboy, Wonder Girl, and Wolf floated down on the Super Cycle, on the interstate as a white limo stopped by them. Mercy walked out, and let Lex Luthor out. "Ah, Wonder Girl. I'm glad Superboy took my advice on bringing you along. I'm Lex Luthor. New Chairman of the Board for Cadmus."
Wonder Girl narrowed her eyes at Lex as he lifted his hand for a shake. "We know who you are Lex... And we want nothing to do with you or Cadmus." Superboy said turning around.
"Cadmus has created new clones." That stopped both of them in their tracks.
Cadmus November 25 11:39 EST.
The two Heroes walked inside and saw Guardian talking to Amanda, and the G-Gnome named Dubbilex that helped them escape. "Where are they?!" Superboy yelled out as they came to the desk. "Who?" Guardian asked as Wonder Girl spoke up. "The new clones of us!" The trio looked confused at that. "Brother. Sister, you two are the only super clones in Cadmus." Dubbilex said putting his hand on Superboy's shoulder.
"The new Chairman said there are two new clones that got made before he came to the position." Wonder Girl said as Amanda left, and Guardian removed his helmet showing he looks like an older Roy. "You... Look like Red Arrow." Guardian nodded as he ran his hand through his hair. "Well, that's not a surprise. I'm his uncle."
The Watchtower November 25, 11:49 EST.
"If we're considering Blue Devil." Green Arrow said standing looking at the picture in front of them. Blue Devil is a muscular male with light blue skin. He has white sideburns and dark rings around his yellow eyes, and his forehead is adorned with two dark yellow horns. He also has fangs.
He's wearing a black sleeveless tunic with a dark blue t-shirt underneath, and dark gray cargo pants. He also has a utility belt of some sort, and he is wearing boots and kneepads.
"Then I nominate Red Arrow." An image of Red Arrow replaced Blue Devil before Green Arrow continued. "Roy has more experience. And he's not a kid anymore he's eighteen, a legal adult." Naruto put his hands in front of him and spoke. "Physically yes, mentally he's still a spoiled child who throws a tantrum when things don't go his way."
"I may have patched things up with him, but he's not ready. What kind of message are we going to tell the Government if we have a member that'll leave the mission he's on because they want to limit where he can go, or do for that matter because he wants to do things his way."
"Hell, he left Dr. Sterling Rouquette in an unsecured building, then came to us for help thinking all he needed to do was get her off the island she was on." Naruto finished as Aquaman nodded and continued. "As well as the message it gives the rest of the Team if we reward him for that kind of behavior."
Cadmus November 25, 11:50 EST.
Wonder Girl, Wolf, and Superboy walked with Guardian who put his helmet back on through the new Cadmus as G-Gnomes are working around the hall. "You can trust Guardian, Brother... Sister... He's telling the truth." The Human G-Gnome said through their link before Wonder Girl continued after Guardian who permitted them to go to their old pods.
As Superboy looked at his, Wonder Girl went to the computer and started looking through the files before seeing a restricted file. "Kind of wish Robin was here." She muttered before typing on the keyboard.
After a few tries, she typed the password, and saw two video files for a 'Project Yin-Yang'. Clicking on the first one, Desmond came up on the screen.
"This is Mark Desmond, beginning Cadmus' latest, and in my opinion, most unexpected project yet. 'Yin-Yang'. When the Light's representative and our highest benefactor, Lex Luthor, tasked us to create cloned soldiers of Superman and Wonder Woman, it presented a unique opportunity to test the limits of super-powered biology.
While the gathering of Kryptonian and Amazon DNA was not difficult like gathering blood and tissue samples when medical personnel had to patch them up after several fights. However, they were both too damaged to make a complete clone from each of them. While Luthor suggested adding his DNA to the Superboy, I made the obvious suggestion of adding that of the new hero's DNA to the Wonder Girl. Kage, I believe he's called."
"Him being from another dimension could open a whole new world of genetic theories. And seems I was correct." Desmond stands up and walks over to an observation window. "While our original intent was to create only one clone from Kage and Wonder Woman's DNA. Turns out that his biology is much more unique and complicated than any of us first thought." he moves out of the camera's view as it zooms in to reveal twin girls in stasis pods.
"Hence Project 'Yin-Yang'. Twins. A pair of twin sisters. We could never have foreseen such results. We've yet to fully understand Kage's powers, but from what we've gathered his genetic structure seems to be enhanced. Boosted by something we can't seem to pinpoint. But an opportunity like this will make for amazing research, I can't wait to put these brats under a microscope."
Wonder Girl shot up from the chair she was sitting on, making it fall behind her. Her eyes and mouth widened in complete shock. She shook her head. 'Focus Donna!' She thought, narrowing her eyes before clicking on the next file, showing Desmond at his desk, lights flickering before staying on.
"Finally! That's the fifth time in the last 3 weeks; we've had these sudden power surges! Studying the twins was going smoothly at first, but then they began to exert some kind of... well, crimson bubble-like energy that seems to give off extreme heat. When I attempted to get a sample of it, not only did it melt the container, it nearly scorched my hand!"
"Is this a sample of Kage's power? Oddly enough, it only manifests itself when the twins are acting harmoniously with each other. Whatever the case, since these power surges have cost the facility time and money in constant damages, Mr. Luthor has decided that it would be best that the twins be separated. One will be prepared as 'Project WG' alongside 'Project Kr'.
The other will remain in cryo-stasis, while also going through the same genetic growth and learning process via the genomorphs, as the previously mentioned projects will go through. This one will be designated as, 'Project Fury'."
Donna could only run a hand through her hair in disbelief at what she just witnessed. 'I have a sister! I can't believe this! How am I supposed to tell Mom and Dad about this?!' Her thoughts were interrupted as she looked up to see Superboy find a hidden door near their pods. 'But first thing's first.' She thought before she reached to her wrist protector, and unsealed a flash drive to copy the videos, and the other files to it before following after Superboy, and Wolf.
They saw a very large freezer with pods along the wall, and a large pod in the middle. When they reached it, Wonder Girl gasped seeing another Superboy in his white suit, along with 'Project Match' on the pod.
She jumped as the door opened from Superboy pressing a button on a keyboard by the pod. Match opened his eyes showing his eyes have black sclera, light blue irises, and black pupils. "Hello, I-!" Superboy stopped as Match attacked him as soon as he saw his shield. Wonder Girl flew over, but was hit back by Match who threw Superboy out of the freezer, then flew over to him. "Holy crap, he can fly?" She asked before flying after them.
When she caught up, she saw Match suit had a hole in the chest and flew to punch him several times. Only for Match to grab her, flew up towards the ceiling, then flew down having her hit the ground knocking her out.
The Watchtower November 25 12:16 EST.
"No."
Superman said as Naruto brought up the Team. "Red Arrow maybe eighteen, but the rest of the Team are too young." Naruto noticed Marvel glance down at that as Dr. Fate approved for Kid and Aqualad.
"What about Zatanna?" Wonder Woman said as Zatanna came up on the holo-screen.
"Absolutely not!" Dr. Fate yelled out getting Wonder Woman to smirk.
"Protective, Doctor. I think we now know Zatara's still in there." Marvel stepped up and looked to Fate. "
Why is Dr. Fate a member? He coerced Zatara to give up his life or have his daughter lose hers. Not cool." Red Tornado brought up Dr. Fate and spoke.
"Should such actions be condoned?" He asked before Dr. Fate spoke up.
"Zatara desires Dr. Fate remain in the League."
"Oh please." Green Arrow scoffed as Dr. Fate crossed his arms.
"No. It is true. Zatara's trust in Nabu is... Measured. He desires the League maintain a close watch on us."
Cadmus November 25, 12:22 EST.
When Wonder Girl woke, she found herself in her old pod and in her old suit. She let out a war cry as she punched the door off, and saw Guardian with the others as an unconscious Superboy slept in his pod, and solar suit. "So... No new clones, huh? Is there anything else you'd like to share?" She asked with an angry tone.
Guardian looked at her with a slightly apologetic glance. "We were unaware of this, 'Project Match', Wonder Girl. But I swear that's the only project that's unknown to us." He tells her, not noticing her fists clenching.
With a growl, Donna walked up to Guardian, grabbed him by the throat, and lifted him off his feet. "Project Fury! Where is she?!" Amanda's eyes widened at that.
"What are you talking about?! I've never heard of a project with that name!" Guardian choked out.
"Stop lying to me!" Donna yelled out, pulling her fist back.
"Wait!"
Donna looked toward Amanda. "There was a room that only Desmond went into. I think I saw Fury written on something inside." Donna looks to Guardian before letting go of his throat.
She apologized to him and proceeded to follow Amanda. She took Wonder Girl to the elevator and went up to a floor where they saw Desmond's office with another door on the other side of the room. Wonder Girl punched through it and walked inside. Amanda followed after and saw that the room was destroyed with a broken pod with 'Project Fury' on its door.
"Shit!" Wonder Girl cursed before seeing a broken laptop. "Hmm….Only the screen's broken... Should be able to get something from this." She said sealing it before walking outside.
Watchtower November 25 12:31 EST.
"Plastic Man."
Batman said as an image of a man came up. Plastic Man is a Caucasian male with short black hair. Large black goggles obscured his eyes. He's wearing a red tunic with a series of laces on the front. Around his waist, his costume has a yellow and black band, and he's barefooted.
Marvel snickered, as the others talked about the former criminal turned hero before busting out laughing. "I'm sorry... He just cracks me up!" Marvel stopped laughing as he saw everyone but Naruto, and Batman stares at him.
"Maybe it's time to talk about the elephant in the room. Should Captain Marvel still be in the League? Now that we know he's only ten years old?" Flash asked as an image of Marvel came up.
"He does possess an adult body, and the wisdom of Solomon." Red Tornado said before Aquaman spoke up.
"Wisdom does not equal maturity."
Marvel looked at them. "Hey, I'm right here!"
Canary leaned forward and smiled. "Then, Billy, maybe you should sit outside for now?"
"No/No." Both Batman and Naruto spoke up before Batman continued.
"Captain Marvel is a valid member and is entitled to participate until, or if, he's voted out." Wonder Woman narrowed her eyes.
"It's not just his age... It's the fact he lied about it.. at least J'onn confirmed Kage's adult age when he first helped us all those years ago."
"I didn't lie... Exactly. I just left out the part about being a kid."
She looked to Marvel and continued. "A lie of omission is still a lie. You kept an important secret from us. No one in the League knew the truth."
Batman looked at her before speaking. "Kage and I knew." Wonder Woman directed her glare to Naruto who sighed.
"Thanks a lot, Batman you brooding bast-!"
"You knew?!" Wonder Woman asked leaning into Naruto.
"I knew there was a kid who had an adult body! I didn't know who until September when Marvel watched over the Team." She looked to Batman and continued.
"I'm not surprised you're OK with it... Since you brought Robin into crime-fighting at age nine." An image of Robin replaced Marvel before Batman spoke up.
"Robin needed to help bring the men who murdered his family to justice."
She narrowed her eyes at Batman before speaking. "So that he can turn out like you?" Batman just stared at her before speaking.
"So that he wouldn't." Naruto opened his mouth, only to stop as Wonder Woman glared at him.
"Shutting up now." He said as John brought up an image of Naruto in his costume causing everyone to raise an eyebrow.
"I would like to also point out that Kage isn't a valid member either. Should he be in this meeting?"
Wonder Woman stood up and stared at John. "Why are you bringing this up?" She asked as Superman leaned forward.
"Yes, we've had a meeting before for the others." He said as John nodded. "True, but Naruto was still a 'kid' for the last meeting we had. Even if he's an unofficial member. Should he vote, or be in this meeting at all?"
Everyone but Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Batman, Aquaman, and Superman muttered as they nodded having Black Canary glare slightly at Green Arrow. Naruto crossed his arms but stayed quiet as Red Tornado spoke up. "Kage is physical of age having just turned eighteen last month. Plus, as Wonder Woman stated, J'onn read his mind when he showed up for the invasion that he was mentally of age."
Flash looked up to them. "I do agree with John that we should at least nominate Kage since he's helped us more times than we can count."
"I'm not questioning anything that he has done. Only that I think he should be voted in, and if so... He shouldn't be voting for this process."
John finished as Batman spoke up. "Kage. Do you have anything to say?" He asked as Naruto stood up and looks to all of League, lingering slightly at Wonder Woman and Black Canary with a smile. "
John... You're right." Naruto said shocking the League. "It's true that I'm not an official member. While the world might consider me a founding member, I don't. If everyone here believes I should be added to the voting polls, that's fine with me. But I would like to give my opinion on each candidate. If I'm not voted in. You can disregard anything I say if you want."
"I'm surprised you can be this diplomatic Kage." Dr. Fate said as Naruto sat down, and grits his teeth.
"If I'm not voted in the League then I'm going to force that helmet off, and go in myself to prank your ass off, Nabu!"
Cadmus November 25, 13:00 EST.
Wonder Girl caught up with Superboy, who was in the now destroyed Freezer as Dubbilex explained that Match is actually Superboy's 'older brother' as he was the first clone with only Kryptonian DNA but was uncontrollable, and froze him. "Similar with Fury, but she was just... More brutal, and didn't care who she hurt. Although I think it has to do with that evil chakra they got from Kage."
"Luthor greenlit the projects," Superboy growled at that.
"So he was using us." Wonder Girl said before Dubbilex led them through the link to another hidden part of the lab that was built like a city where the G-Gnomes can live in peace until the World is ready for them.
The Watchtower November 25, 13:29 EST.
"You seem to have reached the census that eighteen is the minimum age of consent. But what about Miss Martian?" Martian Manhunter asked as Miss Martian was projected in front of them. "Though she is of adolescent standards for Martians. She was born forty-eight Earth years ago." He finished as Red Tornado looked up.
"So what is the deciding factor? Chronologically, or biology?" Images of Superboy and Wonder Girl replaced Miss Martian as Red Tornado continued. "Take Superboy and Wonder Girl for example." Black Canary nodded before speaking.
"Exactly. They're barely a year old. Does that mean they need to wait for seventeen more before being considered?"
Both Kage and Wonder Woman noticed Superman looking away with slight concern as Black Canary was talking.
Genomorph City; November 25, 14:41 EST.
They ran in to see G-Gnomes on the ceiling providing light for the City as Dubbilex walked toward them. Dubbilex gave them a tour before coming up on a chained Match with a burned shield on his chest with a backward 'S'.
They noticed small G-Gnomes keeping him docile before he saw Superboy, and attacked. Wonder Girl was about to help before Superboy yelled out. "I got him!"
She noticed Superboy was punching a little harder than he usually does before feeling something behind her. She flew away, missed Superboy float a foot above the ground, and saw Guardian, and the others along with Mercy running in.
The Watchtower November 25, 14:49 EST.
"No other ideas?"
Superman asked as he, Wonder Woman, Naruto, and Batman stood in front of the table. "Then here are the candidates for new, and continued membership." Everyone they talked about came up on the sides of the room before Batman spoke up.
"We've discussed the origin, gender, size, experience, age, temperament, and background."
"But.. What are the fundamental criteria for League membership?" He finished before Wonder Woman spoke just as Naruto crossed his arms before hearing Kurama through their link.
"Kit... I just felt a spike in DC... Of my chakra." Naruto turned around quickly and walked out just as his image came up for voting.
Washington D.C. November 25, 16:00 EST.
Lex drank from a wine glass in his limo just as something landed on top causing them to crash on the grass. A hand came through the ceiling and ripped a hole in it before pulling Lex out. When he got his bearings, he saw what looked like Wonder Girl with longer hair, and wearing a different set of armor.
She's wearing a silver paladin, Pauldrons, boots, and breastplate. She's wearing a red dress leaving her sides bare, and red wraps around her arms and legs. (1.)
"Where can I get weapons, Lex?"
She asked as Mercy ran out, and aimed at her. Only for the girl to throw Lex, having him hit a lamppost, jumped over to Mercy, and ripped her robotic arm off before walking to Lex. "Here!" He yelled throwing a piece of paper at her. She picked it up before stomping on Lex's foot and broke it. "AAHH!" Lex screamed just as she dropped down on him.
Later, Naruto dropped down and saw the girl fly off. "Wonder Girl?" He saw Lex, and dashed over, and saw he was badly bruised. "Who was that Lex? And before you open your mouth. I know that wasn't Wonder Girl. That girl has long hair." Lex chuckled before coughing a little blood.
"That... was your other daughter... Fury."
Naruto's eyes widened. Only to have them furrow before knocking him out. "Guess I've got to go back to-" He stopped as Wonder Girl came up on his earpiece. "Dad... I've got information on my... Sister."
Warehouse November 25, 17:15 EST.
Fury walked inside and saw several Apokoliptian weapons before a newspaper flew in. Picking it up, she saw her parents on the front page. She gently rubbed the image of her parents before clenching her hands and looked up with a determination on her face.
