"Hades," Nyx called as the name popped up in her mind. It was so unbelievable that that name would come to her the moment he mentioned the word queen as though it had been said to her before.
Hades beamed at the mention of his name. He nodded as his eyes sparkled like a little given his favourite thing in the world. "So you remember me."
"No, I honestly don't. Your name just came into my mind," Nyx replied, but he still smiled nonetheless. "I want you to leave here, Hades, and leave Skye alone. Whatever it is you have on him or that belongs to him, return it to him as well."
"Already making demands, I see. Does this mean that you are considering my proposal?" Although he sounded playful, his expression was serious.
"No," Nyx replied, and he smiled.
"I was expecting that. But I can only grant the wishes of my queen, which right now, you are not and are not considering," Hades uttered. His eyes were fixated on Skye once again. "This human belongs to me now. He is to me what you humans call a pet. He is whatever I want him to be."
"What do you have in your possession that belongs to him," Nyx had to ignore all of his other rantings and just focus on what he said about Skye. Skye was no fool to make a deal with the devil. He didn't even seem to know what he was until recently, and he also didn't know the name of the devil he was entangled with. Had he been a greedy person, hungry for wealth and fame, she would have said he sold his soul to the devil to acquire that, but he was not. It was like everyone said, Skye was a good man.
"He didn't tell you, did he?" Hades nodded as if just realizing the reason why he couldn't tell her anything. "His little sister," Nyx gaze turned sharp on him, and he raised his hands in surrender. "She is alive and healthy, just the way she was when I took her. She is an obedient little girl. It was a bit too obedient, but it has kept her alive until now."
"Give her to me," Nyx demanded. She was right after all. Skye had no other choice but to do as he was told, even making a deal with Hades. She never knew he had a sister, and he also never mentioned her before.
"I said I only grant my wife's wishes, but I can make an exception if you give me a kiss right here," he tapped on his lips and glared at him. "Would you at least consider my proposal then?"
"Give her to me," Nyx refused to answer his question. There was no way in hell she would ever say yes to that.
"Bossy much," he clicked his tongue and disappeared. A second later. He reappeared with an unconscious teenage girl and placed her on the bed. "Consider this as my gift of courtship," Hades said before he disappeared.
Nyx stood up immediately and approached the unconscious girl after placing a pillow under Skye's head to make sure that he was comfortable. She checked on the girl to make sure she was alive, as Hades said. After being certain that she was alive, she sighed in relief.
The girl was a blonde, but there were similarities between her and Skye.
"Welcome back home," Nyx said and brushed the girl's hair with her fingers. "I will have the kitchen prepare something for you too,' she said and stood up to head for the kitchen.
While she left, Skye opened his eyes, and tears trickled down his cheeks. He had held them back for as long as she could, but now that she was gone, he couldn't keep it in anymore nor could keep pretending to sleep.
He didn't have the energy to stand or sit and just continued to lie there where she left him. He couldn't believe that after so many months, he had his little sister back, and all it took were a few words from Nyx.
Sky had been awake the whole time. Right from the moment the door opened and Nyx walked in, he knew. He was surprised at her keen senses to be able to tell that there was someone else in the room immediately, but he should have expected that already. Another surprise was when he learned the name of the devil. The Lord of the Underworld was the one who held his sister captive. It was unbelievable.
"Isabelle," he called her name as he mustered the strength to sit. He wanted to see her face. To see his sister once again. He approached her and picked her up. He cradled her in his hands and hugged her like his life depended on it. "I am sorry I wasn't able to get you back sooner."
She stirred, but her eyes remained closed, so he put her down, properly tucked her in bed, and then went out to find Nyx. He felt like he could never repay her no matter how hard he tried or what he did.
Just she had said he found her in the kitchen giving instructions to Irene, who would then pass them on to the maids and chef. He got to her and hugged her immediately, surprising everyone, including Nyx herself.
"Thank you," he said. He didn't care how many eyes were on them. She was his wife, after all, and this was his house.
Nyx smiled now, understanding his actions. "I will leave everything else to you, Irene. Take care," she said and led Skye out of the kitchen before he got more emotional in front of his employees. They stopped at the bottom of the stairs. "I didn't know you were awake or…" Nyx trailed when she saw the way he looked at her. "Skye…"
He blinked and smiled. "I am grateful, Nyx. I don't even know how to repay you for what you have done. Getting her back was… Thank you," he didn't know if what he was saying was making any sense, but he just wanted to say what was on his mind. "I love you."
