(Rhaegar POV)
Rhaegar did not expect his ascension to the Iron Throne to be this quick and sudden, but his little brother did have a flair for dramatics. The night began with him and Daemon leaving for a small tavern and having a few drinks, which turned out to be too many and then led to him bringing out his Harp and singing along with his brother until they were late for the feast. When he saw his father's body with a fist-sized whole in his chest, he wondered if he should have just stayed in that tavern a little while longer with Daemon. He was in Lord Stefon's Solar Around him were his mother, Lord Steffon Baratheon and his wife, Lord Hoster Tully, Lord Jon Arryn, Lord Rickard Stark, the Princess Loreza of Dorne and Lord Luthor Tyrell, the only one missing was Lord Tywin, who was still in Kings Landing ruling. Guarding the door were two of his Kings guard.
The whole realm saw what his brother did, and many spoke of how one could possess the strength to punch through skin and bone and of course many spat the names Kingslayer and Kinslayer alike at his little brother....well not directly to him since barley anyone looked at him but his brother had let himself be taken to the Cells but he had forbade it and his brother was now sitting in a room comfortably awaiting his fate.
As he looked around, he noticed everyone's faces were torn with tension as he spoke up. "My Lords and ladies, these are troubled times, but I would like to hear your thoughts on this delicate matter before I make a decision," he said slowly.
Lord Arryn frowned at that and moved to speak, "My Prince, your brother killed your father, the king Aerys, his own father, what is there to discuss, I thought he would be given the choice of the Wall or the headsmen?" he asked with a frown still on his face.
He didn't react to Lord Arryn and looked at Lord Tyrell, who was about to speak. "Prince Daemon may have committed such acts, but he was protecting the queen who is pregnant, might I add and young Princess Visenya, and besides, why should his Grace send his brother away!" he said loudly, looking at Lord Arryn, with a glare.
Lord Arryn did not rise to the beat as everyone else looked on, "I do not refute that, but he committed Kinslaying and Kingslaying in front of the entire realm, and those across the narrow sea. The realm would want an answer and simply dismissing this would make the faith angry."
Lord Tully spoke up for the first time, "Prince Daemon possesses magic, he can make Valyrian steel weapons, and armor; he can heal any wound, he's a genius who has created different objects that help people, I don't think the smallfolk would sit idly by and let that happen and I'm sure they would riot, and he does have powerful friends," he said with his Tully red hair moving, as he mentioned Lord Tywin.
Princess Loreza spoke out with her orange fitted dress, "I think, being labeled a Kingslayer and Kinslayer for the rest of his life, is punishment enough, and if he wishes for a trial by combat, I'm sure he has the prowess to come out a free man in the eyes of the gods."
Rhaegar had noticed the glint in her eyes, House Martell owed his brother a great debt but Daemon had not come to collect. 'But she is right, his little brother would be labeled a monster, a man with a black heart, he knew that was not the case and he would defend his brother with everything he had but there was a chance that people would think him and House Targaryen weak if his brother were to be released without consequences, His brothers marriage prospects have plummeted into nothingness...well, except for five houses and one was sitting across from him, dressed in House Martell colors. His mind was running while the other Lords went on and on about what should be done, His mother sat quietly next to him, observing everyone else.
She, like him, did not want to punish Daemon. His father was to put it simply....A CUNT, he lusted after other men's wives' and disgraces his house with his loud outburst and fits of tantrums, but he never expected his father to show this side of himself in front of the realm and to threaten a Lord Paramount of taking his lands, which was just unbelievable.
Lord Rickard Stark mentioned simple exile, while Lord Tully suggested fostering Daemn in one of the seven kingdoms, Lord Arryn was steadfast in the Wall, Lord Tyrell and Princess Martell wanted to simply pardon Daemon.
He raised his hand up to silence the yelling, "Enough, my lords and ladies, I thank you for your input and your time, and I'm sure all of you have different opinions of my brother and what he did, but I think we might need to take a break before we continue these talks and I wish to visit my brother, I thank you all once again and Lord Baratheon I thank you for the hospitality once again, Princess Loreza, Do you wish to accompany me and my mother for a walk?"
Loreza simply eyed him but after a minute she gave a smile and a nod and wrapped her arms around her mothers to show support in their long friendship. while his mother gave her a smile. As they made their way through the castle floors in the direction of his brothers' chambers, Ser Gerold and Ser Whent stood on either side of them.
"How are you dealing with all this, your Grace? I'm sure the death of your father at the very hands of your younger brother is something I cannot even imagine and to have to punish him must be difficult, and with your impending coronation, I'm sure you are strong and wise enough to have no need of a regent for two years," she expressed while her mother winced at the thought, but Princess Loreza put a comforting hand on hers as they continued.
He gave a nod and a small smile, "Yes, I will ascend the throne and I will remodel the council as soon as I'm back in Kings landing but yes it is, but my brother has been by my side since he was born and I by his, Daemon has always been ahead of others and has been in the front of change in the Seven Kingdoms but he never left me behind. He would always drag me along with him to the yard or to his workspaces to see what new inventions or ideas he had, he would always entertain my love for books and accompany me to the library to read until my back was sore from digging my nose into a book for hours. He even wrote new stories for me to read and enjoy He never knew this, but I knew he didn't really like reading but he did it for me." he said with every inch of sadness a person could muster.
Queen Rhaella's facade was cracking as the aching mother wanted to hug her boys, set her son free, and dam the thoughts of the Lords of Westeros. But her firstborn son needed her to be strong and strong she shall be.
