Kapitel 38: Chapter 38: Fun in Knockturn Alley

This minor scuffle in Knockturn Alley failed to capture the attention of many wizards. Some had already discerned the outcome merely by observing Martin's expression.

In Knockturn Alley, crossing paths with the Black family spelled more serious consequences than risking one's life.

Most dark wizards understood that stirring trouble in Knockturn Alley would draw the relentless pursuit of the Black family, even if the Ministry of Magic turned a blind eye.

Before Draco and Harry could inspect the scene further, several wizards in black robes with gold threading abruptly materialized. One of them promptly draped a shroud over the body.

The remaining wizards cast cleansing spells to purge the area, eradicating any magical traces to prevent future entanglements.

Their execution was seamless and professional, evident to any seasoned observer.

"Master, miss, leave the rest to us," Martin's familiar voice addressed them. Richie, the captain of the Knockturn Alley wizard team, and a seasoned wizard, assured them. His prowess equaled Lightjohn's, and his standing in Knockturn Alley matched John's.

"Please, Uncle Rich, refrain from informing father," Martin pleaded, wishing to keep Cole in the dark about the day's events. Unbeknownst to him, these wizards would inevitably report everything. Their loyalty was unwavering, and Cole often turned a blind eye to certain matters.

Approaching Draco and Harry, Martin observed their amused expressions and remarked, "What's this? Are you frightened?"

"How absurd! Martin, do not underestimate me. I refuse to be daunted by such a trivial scene. I am a member of the Malfoy family."

Not to be outdone, Draco refused to appear weak in Martin's presence, forcing himself to dismiss the earlier incident from his mind.

Martin noticed Harry's composed demeanor, contrasting with Draco's, and resolved not to leave a negative impression on his new friends.

"Harry, just as there are malevolent individuals in the Muggle world, so too are there in the wizarding world. Remain cautious in the future, although Hogwarts remains a sanctuary."

Harry nodded attentively, demonstrating his ability to discern certain nuances.

"Yes, Martin, but in the Muggle world, wouldn't you notify the authorities in such situations?" Harry inquired, perplexing Draco. "Who are the authorities? Are they akin to Aurors in the Muggle realm?" Draco conjectured before smirking dismissively. "This incident did not occur in front of Aurors. They wouldn't bother, and besides, we refrained from employing those spells."

Draco implied that unless one used the Unforgivable Curses in front of Aurors, the Ministry of Magic cared little for a wizard's actions. Despite his awareness of the potency of the Unforgivable Curses, Draco remained unexposed to such formidable magic due to his youth.

Unbeknownst to Draco, Martin and his companions had wielded the Unforgivable Curses far more proficiently.

"You don't yet grasp the intricacies of the wizarding world, Harry. You will in due time," Martin explained succinctly before leading Draco and Harry into Knockturn Alley.

Knockturn Alley, in fact, was no less bustling than Diagon Alley, often teeming with more individuals, though dark wizards frequented the area briefly, conducting their business discreetly.

Martin refrained from taking Draco and Harry into certain establishments deemed unsuitable for them, opting instead to provide introductions from outside.

Pointing toward a shop along the thoroughfare, Martin mischievously teased Draco, "Draco, what do you think that establishment sells?"

Draco, familiar with Martin's penchant for mischief, recalled a previous instance where Martin had deceived him into entering a store purportedly vending magical creatures, even dragons, which excited Draco greatly. However, upon entering, Draco was met with a display of dragon remains, leaving him disillusioned. To make amends, Martin purchased dragon leather gloves for Draco, a gesture that touched Harry deeply, as he had never received a gift before.

Draco retorted teasingly, "Martin, everyone knows your penchant for pranks. Is this yet another one of your establishments in Knockturn Alley?"

"Why would I deceive you? That store actually sells broomsticks, featuring the latest models from renowned manufacturers, including Seven Stars."

Eager to explore, Draco led Harry inside, where they were greeted by a wizard who initially eyed them warily until recognizing Martin, Jerome, and several other Black family members. His demeanor softened, albeit unnervingly so.

"Present the latest broomsticks," Martin instructed, prompting Draco to admire the assortment of brooms while eagerly discussing them with Harry.

Whether by genetics or circumstance, Harry found himself equally captivated by the prospect of these enchanted flying apparatuses.

As Draco and Harry conversed, Darlene and Alice, two young girls accompanying them, grew restless and wandered off to amuse themselves elsewhere.

Eventually, Martin noted the time, startling Draco, who realized he had lost track of it. Amused by Draco's oversight, Martin promised to explain matters to him before allowing him to depart.

Exiting the shop, they encountered Cole and Lucius on the street. Draco's fear of Lucius was palpable, prompting a reproachful remark from Cole.

"Draco, you mustn't act so rashly. If Martin and the others hadn't been present today, who knows what could have happened."

Trembling, Draco offered a meek apology to Lucius.

Ignoring him, Lucius turned to Martin, commending him for his prowess and expressing admiration for Cole's parenting.

Meanwhile, Cole silently reflected that Lucius's praise seemed misplaced, given Lucius's true intentions.

With that, Cole escorted Malfoy and his son back to Diagon Alley, while Harry, unnoticed by both Cole and Lucius, remained unremarked upon.
