Kapitel 20: To the beach it is
Alex shrieked once he saw me and hugged me tightly.
"Oh my! Thank you so much! The operation went through because of the money you lent me. I can't thank you enough."
"I'm just glad that everything went well." and I just gave them a quick smile.
"What's happening, Kaesu? Why are you so down?" Lara's face full of worry appeared for me when she leaned her face closer to mine.
"Uh, it's just that I am sorry that I wasn't there with you guys when the operation happened." I could not think of any better excuses because I could also not tell them about what had happened.
"Nah,. It's okay. We understand. That's a very selfless thing to think about. But you know what? You've helped Alex, and that's a huge thing. You should be proud of yourself." Lara responded and patted my back and Alex just nodded. He hugged us both once again, and I could tell he could jump all day to explain how happy he was.
It's the weekend, and we are all now lying in my bed, staring at the ceiling, trying to figure out what we could do for the next two days.
"I think I deserve to pamper myself." We turned to Lara because of her idea.
"Well, only rich girls get to pamper themselves nowadays. I could not even afford to waste a single penny, so I could still help my father with his medical bills," Alex said.
"How could we help Alex?" I asked.
"Oh no! You've done more than enough. Besides, I found a part-time job around the corner-"
"Then that's something we should celebrate!" Lara jumped out of bed.
"Are you still in your right mind? I just mentioned I can't waste even a single penny-"
"Shush Alex, I've got you. Just take this as my compensation to you because I didn't even contribute anything to your father's expenses, the only thing I can give to your father is to make his handsome prince happy." She caressed Alex's hair, teasing him.
"Oh shut up! It's a 'princess'." Alex combed his imaginary hair with his hands, showing Lara that he was indeed a princess.
"Come on!" she looked like a baby asking her mommy to buy her a treat, so I blurted out laughing at the two.
"You agree with me, Kaesu, don't you?"
I tried to hesitate to tease Lara but in the end, she managed to convince both Alex and me and immediately went back to pack her stuff as well, and Alex, so did I.
We were waiting at the side of the road for a cab when a car pulled over in front of us and I knew whose car was this.
"Where are you guys headed?" Canim asked and appeared out of nowhere.
"Uhh to the beach? Does our outfit explain it all?" Alex sarcastically replied, turning round and proudly waving his outfit.
Then I saw Lara and Canim staring at each other with a different kind of look I couldn't explain. Right! They always had a secret conversation with each other that involved my name and I could still not figure out what their relationship was. This is the right time for this.
"You know, we badly need a driver. I think you should give us a ride and might as well join us." I insisted. He hesitated and once again looked at Lara, and she just gave him an empty look.
"How about I give you a ride?" and then all of us turned to Antonio who, out of nowhere, appeared in front of us.
Do these people love popping up all of a sudden?
But Antonio could destroy my plan, so I swiftly thought of an excuse.
"No, we can't all fit in your big bike, Canim's car is way more spacious, and I am sure he won't decline, right Canim?" I know he can't afford to hesitate this time, knowing he has a competition now.
"Let's go."
I knew it.
We were about to go when Antonio held my arm softly. "What are you doing?"
"You'll see."
"Can I join you then?"
"No!" I violently removed my hand from his grasp and gave him a smirk to tease him.
"But how can I see if you won't let me join you?"
"Urgh! Find it out yourself."
I followed Alex and Lara inside the car and I sat in the passenger's seat while Canim arranged our things in the trunk. When Canim finished, he got in and started the car.
"To the beach it is."
I fell asleep during the trip and when I woke up I was alone in the car. Why is it that I tend to sleep every time there is a trip? I am always left inside. I hurriedly unbuckled my seatbelt and was about to get down when I saw Canim coming in my direction and opened the car door.
"You're awake."
"Sorry, did we just arrive?"
"We just finished unloading the luggage, and we didn't bother you because you were sleeping as if you hadn't slept for days. Actually, I was going to go back to wake you up but when I came back you were already awake, so let's go?"
If you only know that you are one of those people who didn't let me sleep.
I just nodded and followed him until we got to where Alex and Lara were. They happily offered me to paddle in the sea, but I refused because it was still hot. So they just showed me to my room and said they had already put my things up there, so I just nodded and went to the room.
I arranged all my belongings and didn't forget to put my picture and Grandpa's on the table with the lampshade. I always bring this wherever I go, so I would always feel that Grandpa is still here, with me.
"She'll be happy Grandpa. I will make her happy!"
I lay down on the very soft bed and let sleep overtake me again.
