Kapitel 97: -96- The school's arrangement

"Ah, right."

As the elevator descended to the first-floor lobby of the dormitory, Ichinose Honami, as if recalling something, suddenly spoke up.

"Nanaya-san, have you heard about the summer vacation plans?"

This topic came quite abruptly.

"Summer vacation?" Kushida Kikyou asked, puzzled. "What about it?"

"It seems like you haven't heard about it," Ichinose Honami scratched her cheek, somewhat helpless. "Didn't Chabashira-sensei inform you?"

Obviously, this was something the homeroom teacher would notify them about.

But as usual, Chabashira Sae seemed indifferent to class matters and hadn't timely shared this information.

"Although it hasn't been officially announced yet, Hoshinomiya-sensei mentioned it to me."

Ichinose Honami revealed surprising information.

"It's said that the school has arranged a summer vacation trip for us first-year students."

This information caught Hori's attention.

"A summer vacation trip?" Hori looked at Ichinose Honami.

"Really?" Kushida Kikyou, on the other hand, felt purely excited, eagerly asking, "Where are we going? Is it a hot spring resort? Or a beach?"

"It should be the latter," Ichinose Honami replied openly. "I heard it's a vacation on a southern island, so it should be a beach."

"That sounds exciting." Kushida Kikyou showed a happy smile.

But Hori didn't feel as purely joyful as Kushida Kikyou.

"A southern island..."

Hori pondered.

Would this school really organize a vacation plan for students?

Hori didn't believe it was purely for the students' vacation. He didn't think the school would provide such good benefits without a reason.

Think about it, right?

In this school, all good treatment came with a cost.

In other words, there must be a reason behind the sudden provision of such good benefits.

"It does seem suspicious, doesn't it?"

Ichinose Honami's voice reached Hori, who was lost in thought, snapping him out of it, and he looked over again.

It seemed that Ichinose Honami had been observing Hori all along and immediately said so when she saw him lost in thought.

"This school wouldn't do anything meaningless, so there must be some significant meaning behind the vacation trip arranged for first-year students."

It appeared that Hori wasn't the only one who thought that way.

As the class president of Class B, Ichinose Honami, the ostensible leader, naturally wouldn't overlook this point.

Moreover, Ichinose Honami also believed so.

"I think the summer vacation will be a very important turning point," Ichinose Honami said to Hori. "Nanaya-san mentioned before that this school isn't just about written tests, but also various other tasks to test students, right?"

This was Hori's idea, revealed during the midterm exam results announcement in Class D, which had spread to other classes' ears.

Based on this, Ichinose Honami made such a guess.

"Now that the midterms are over and finals are coming up, perhaps the special exams Nanaya-san mentioned will take place during the summer vacation?"

In other words, the opportunity to significantly change the class points for the first-year classes was also approaching.

"Otherwise, if we always judge class points based on exam scores and classroom discipline, no matter how hard we try, it's difficult to catch up to Class A."

That's how Ichinose Honami saw it.

Indeed.

Just based on exam scores and classroom discipline, even if other classes tried their best, they still couldn't catch up with the elite Class A.

If class points were always judged by these standards, not to mention Class C and Class D, even Class B would gradually fall behind Class A.

If this situation continues, how will the other classes catch up?

In that case, the competition advocated by the school would be invalid.

In summary, Ichinose Honami's speculation might be correct.

Unlike regular written exams, perhaps special exams would be conducted during the summer vacation.

That would be the real start of competition between the classes.

"Because of this, students in our class have already started preparing eagerly," Ichinose Honami asked very subtly, "Nanaya-san, what do you think?"

What do I think?

Isn't it obvious?

"My opinion aligns with yours. This school wouldn't do something purely for the students' benefit, and since it has, there must be some significance behind the summer vacation trip."

Hori initially agreed with Ichinose Honami's opinion, then shrugged.

"But, that doesn't hold much significance for me."

Indeed.

Not much significance.

Because Hori isn't concerned about class competition.

Even if special exams were held during the summer vacation to determine significant competition between the four classes, Hori didn't have much interest.

Compared to class points, accumulating individual points that could influence many aspects of this school would be more worthwhile for Hori.

In short, like Ryuen Kakeru, Hori wasn't targeting class points but individual points.

Depending on the situation, the effectiveness of individual points would be crucial in front of the school's system.

For example, midterm exam scores could be bought with individual points.

Even the qualification to change classes could be purchased with individual points.

Having an ample amount of individual points would be the capital to gain the maximum freedom and challenge in this school.

So, Hori was interested in acquiring individual points, but not so much in class points.

After all, the amount of individual points that could be obtained through class points was minimal.

"It's not good for Nanaya-san to be so indifferent to the class. Don't you think?" Ichinose Honami seemed to discern Hori's casual attitude toward class competition and reproached him.

Presumably, for Ichinose Honami, who liked unity in the class, Hori's attitude could be seen as another extreme.

"If Nanaya-san could be more concerned about the class, it would be better."

Kushida Kikyou also sighed, seemingly concerned for her lonely friend.

Regarding this, Hori didn't refute anything and just remained silent.

That being said, Hori wasn't entirely uninterested in the summer vacation trip.

Even though he wasn't focused on class competition, Hori was quite curious about the content of the special exams organized by the school.

"What could it be?" Hori muttered to himself.

The elevator arrived at the first floor at this point, and with a "ding," the doors opened.

//// Going to rest a few more days, got a high fever right after the exam. I'll just upload the draft I've saved up. At most three days ////
