Kapitel 64: -64- An unexpected witness

"Mmm..."

"Ugh..."

In the corner of the corridor, Ishizaki Daichi, Komiya Kyogo, and Kondo Reo remained in a pile, groaning and appearing dazed, unable to get up for quite some time.

Obviously, the recent fall had impacted the three of them, leaving their senses blurred.

Of course, this was intentional on Hori's part.

"If I were to be heavy-handed with you, it might escalate into a violent incident, and that would be troublesome."

Undoubtedly, violent incidents were strictly prohibited within the S System.

If such an incident occurred, severe punishment from the school authorities was certain.

Being deducted class points was minor compared to the possibility of being expelled.

"In this regard, Ryuen Kakeru did find a good place."

As Hori spoke, he looked around.

When he first enrolled, Hori had toured the campus and discovered numerous surveillance cameras throughout the school.

Especially in the classrooms of each class, cameras were discreetly installed, unnoticed by the students at the start of the school year.

Because of those cameras, student tardiness, absences, and classroom interactions were recorded during the first month, with frequencies fully tallied, resulting in Class D losing all its class points.

And if a violent incident occurred in this school, it would definitely be captured by the many cameras.

However, not all areas were under surveillance.

Previously, Hori had considered that utilizing some of the camera-free gray areas on campus could facilitate various actions.

And this particular educational building, as it was seldom used during regular days, had very few internal cameras.

The area where Hori was located happened to be one of those camera-free gray areas.

So, even if things got rough here, the school authorities wouldn't know.

Of course, that was under normal circumstances.

If things got really intense and students were seriously injured, it would inevitably raise suspicions from the school authorities and lead to investigations and disciplinary actions, right?

Therefore, Hori wouldn't leave obvious injuries on these three.

"Leaving visible injuries would be considered violence; leaving no visible injuries is a must."

Hori approached the three small figures piled together, squatting down and patting their faces.

"I have a lot of ways to deal with you, wanna try it out one by one?"

Hori's voice was full of playful mockery.

"Ugh..."

Unfortunately, Ishizaki Daichi, Komiya Kyogo, and Kondo Reo seemed not to have recovered from the impact of the fall, only emitting muffled groans.

This caused the playfulness in Hori's tone to fade away.

"It's just a concussion, yet you haven't gotten up for so long. In our clan, you guys would be the first to be eliminated."

Hori lost interest in these three insignificant characters completely.

"What else can I say? This isn't even playing; it doesn't even qualify."

Leaving these words, directed at no one in particular, Hori stood up, picked up his untouched backpack, and prepared to leave.

Just then...

"Who...?"

Hori suddenly frowned, turned his head, and looked in a certain direction.

"Ah..."

There, a faint exclamation was heard, followed by a flurry of hurried footsteps.

It was a sign of someone hiding there hastily escaping.

Hori's frown deepened.

"Did someone witness this?"

This was not a good situation.

If this incident were reported to the school authorities, it would become quite troublesome.

If the observer had been there from the beginning, it would be manageable.

Because, the ones who initiated the confrontation were the three from Class C, so even if he was questioned, Hori could justify his actions.

But if the observer had just arrived and saw the three from Class C lying in front of Hori, then Hori would be seen as the aggressor.

This made Hori sigh.

"I really was careless, just because that Ryuen stir up my playful side"

This was Hori's lapse.

After all, with Hori's keen senses, he should have been able to detect the presence of outsiders, even if they were skilled at concealment.

So if Hori failed to notice, then Hori's lapse was undeniable.

"Being too comfortable in this school has certainly made me less vigilant of my surroundings."

Reflecting inwardly, Hori left the area and approached the spot where the commotion had just occurred, where there were signs of someone hiding.

As he neared the area, Hori noticed something.

"This is..."

Hori looked somewhat puzzled at the ground.

There, a digital camera seemed to have fallen and lay quietly.

"Is this from the eyewitness just now?"

Perhaps the witness dropped this while hurriedly escaping after being discovered?

Hori immediately picked up the digital camera and turned it on.

After a few flickers, the power came on.

However, the image was not very clear.

"Could it be malfunctioning due to the fall?"

Hori made this judgment and quickly began checking the photos stored in the camera.

Those photos evoked three impressions in Hori.

The first impression was this.

"So many photos."

It seemed like the camera's owner was someone who enjoyed taking pictures.

The second impression was this.

"Can't see clearly."

Probably due to actual malfunction, the images appeared blurry, only allowing Hori to vaguely discern various selfies of a girl.

Then, the third impression was this.

"She seems quite cute?"

That's right.

Even though the images were somewhat blurry, making it difficult for Hori to see her face clearly, even so, the girl appearing in each photo seemed incredibly cute, with an excellent figure.

If the image wasn't blurred, her appearance would probably not be astonishing, but definitely beautiful, right?

At the very least, she wouldn't lose to any girl in this school.

"Could it be that some guy downloaded celebrity photos from the internet?"

But from the sound of the recent exclamation, it seemed like a girl's voice.

Although the exclamation was very faint, Hori trusted his hearing.

"The question is whether the girl in these photos is the owner of the camera."

Thinking this, just as Hori was about to carefully confirm the photos in the camera, the digital camera's screen flickered a few times and suddenly went dark.

"...Completely malfunctioned?"

After trying a few times, Hori reluctantly came to this conclusion.

"No choice, I'll have to look at it later."

This was also to confirm the true identity of the eyewitness.

After making this decision, Hori stuffed the digital camera into his backpack and left the building.

Only Ishizaki Daichi, Komiya Kyogo, and Kondo Reo remained there, still lying down, not yet recovered from their daze.
