The soil in the mountain cave was still fresh, and Ruan Jiaojiao stepped on it to find it soft and spongy.
The sky had not yet completely darkened, but the dense branches on the back mountain made the cave seem gloomy and damp, definitely unsuitable for human habitation.
Yet, Ruan Jiaojiao was moved nonetheless.
"You spent the whole afternoon out and not at home, all for this?" Ruan Jiaojiao stood at the entrance and asked, noticing Xiaobai slipping by her side into the cave, gliding and rolling on the ground. She turned to ask Xiu Xi.
Xiu Xi nodded.
He knew that this couldn't compare to living in the forest, and she wouldn't dwell in such a cave anymore. He did all this simply to fulfill one of her dreams.
"Thank you, Brother Xiu. I really like it," Ruan Jiaojiao said. She truly did like it, but not the cave itself—it was his affection for her that she cherished.
Hearing Ruan Jiaojiao say she liked it, Xiu Xi's expression brightened.
