A few hours after David left, a worried Wong entered the Ancient One's office. "Master, is David okay?" he asked.
"Right now he's just having fun messing with people," the Ancient One said with a smile. "David usually acts more mature around us. I was hoping he would let loose and have some fun on this adventure," she continued. "I thought this was supposed to be a learning experience for him?" asked Wong.
"It can be both. I just want my son to enjoy himself at the end of the day," said the Ancient One, smiling.
"You really have changed," remarked Wong, and the Ancient One just smiled in response.

As David had been following Carol and Nick's car from the air for a while, he noticed them entering a tunnel that led into a mountain. Assuming it was some sort of secret military base based on the clandestine entry, he contemplated his next move. Trying to follow them inside would be difficult as a kid, with no plausible excuse for being there. "Is that a landing strip hidden in the mountain? Maybe they have a Quinjet!" David thought, momentarily forgetting about Vers and Fury.
Deciding to create a diversion, David flew higher and higher, pumping ionic energy into his surroundings while gathering ions from the different clouds. He attracted all the clouds in the vicinity to the area directly above the base and mountains.
Meanwhile, shadows began to cover the mountains above the base. In a control room inside the base, confused agents exclaimed as they observed the strange phenomenon through the cameras. Storm clouds began gathering just above their base, as if all the clouds in the surrounding area had suddenly converged above them. Then, it started raining heavily, the saturation of clouds in that small area reaching its limit, turning small showers into torrential downpours and obscuring visibility outside the base.
David, still in the air, generated an electric current among the clouds, preparing himself by orienting towards the ground. He kept the charge building until, with a blinding light, lightning struck right on the power lines near the base, causing the lights throughout the entire base to go out. Taking this as his cue, David burst forth with as much speed as he could muster and entered the air hangar through the mountain opening with the landing strip, just before the lights came back on as the backup generators of the base activated.
Entering the hangar, he marvelled at the number of jets present. This was the first time he had seen such jets up close, but his attention was drawn to the largest white jet that resembled the ancestor of the Quinjet. With wide eyes, he lowered himself while keeping his ionic Aura active, prepared for any guards that might appear. Luckily, the jet had its ramp down, so he simply walked in.
Suddenly, he sensed Vers and Fury running away from other agents who were blocking the doors behind them. "Why is he running from his own men? Probably more shapeshifters," David mused, as he sensed the unfolding events from the safety of the jet.
As they entered the Quinjet, David remained hidden with his Aura active, clinging to the ceiling like Spider-Man. As the jet took off and increased in speed, he noticed a cat pressed against a crate at the front of the jet, clearly affected by the G-forces. Floating down, David picked up the cat, named Goose, and spread his ionic Aura to cancel out the excess force, ensuring the cat's safety.
"Mother fucker, I bet he was the reason the lights went out," Fury grumbled upon turning around and spotting David hovering in mid-air with Goose. "Hmm, oh hey guys, it'd be pretty hard to ditch me now, huh?" David said with a grin on his face. Fury just sighed in defeat. "This child is a fine warrior, Fury. It seems I underestimated this planet," Vers remarked, prompting Fury to look between the two and sigh again, uncertain if David was even from Earth. "Mother… where did this storm even come from!" Fury complained, he just sighed as he heard David giggling in the back.
"See anyone you know?" Vers asked as she handed Fury a picture of herself in an Air Force uniform, about to board a jet on Earth. David, peeking from behind Fury, chimed in with a mischievous grin, "Heh, aren't you an alien? Oh, were you scouting us for an invasion?" Fury chuckled as Vers refuted him and explained how she woke up six years prior on the Kree home planet Hala with no recollection of her past.
"So, you think you're the pilot that went down with Dr. Lawson?" Fury asked. "I'm saying the last person to see them alive could probably tell us," Vers replied. David just sat in the back, captivated by the unfolding conversation. This was getting interesting.

After landing on a farm, the three of them exited the jet and headed towards an open area where a woman was working on something at a table, and a little girl was inside a plane. When Vers asked about the person they were looking for, the little girl called her aunt Carol and ran to hug her. "I guess she really is from Earth," David remarked. "I guess so," replied Fury. David wondered if Vers was like him, perhaps gaining her powers from a Terrigen crystal as well.
After introductions, they all entered the main building where Vers, now Carol, explained her life over the last six years. David found the story of aliens and space battles somewhat interesting, though living with sorcerers had somewhat desensitised him to such tales. He and Fury then followed Monica, Maria's child, to retrieve some of Carol's belongings and give her time to catch up with her friend. "Hey, how come they brought a kid like you on the mission?" Monica asked. "They didn't have a choice," David replied smugly, earning yet another sigh from Fury.
Later, as David relented to keep Monica company outside while the adults talked, he was playing catch with her when Maria joined them. David sensed something off and used his ionic sense, discovering another being inside the house with them, along with another Maria, meaning this one was posing as Maria. Just as he noticed, he saw the being inside point outside, and everyone turned to look at him and Monica playing. Maria looked worried and shocked seeing her daughter playing with another her, while Carol and Fury looked at the imposter with pity upon realising David was outside as well.
David, noticing their expressions, smiled and hoped this imposter could give him a better fight. Suddenly, a blue aura enveloped him as he sped forward and punched the imposter in the gut, sending them tumbling backward. "Ah! Mum!" screamed Monica. "Show yourself," David demanded, preparing himself for a fight. As he was hit in the back by an energy blast, pushing him forward, he expanded his ionic sense beyond the house and saw the same alien he zapped earlier in the day with a gun at a distance, along with two more aliens armed with energy weapons nearby. A smile formed on David's face. "This might actually be fun," he said, and in the background Monica ran towards the house.
As another energy blast pushed David forward, he quickly regained his balance mid-air, his ionic Aura shimmering around him. With a determined look in his eyes, he focused his energy, ready for whatever the aliens had in store for him. The three armed aliens approached cautiously, their energy blasters at the ready, while the imposter Maria regained her footing, her eyes narrowing with malicious intent.
Without wasting a moment, David unleashed a barrage of lightning blasts from his palms, aiming at the aliens with precision. The bolts crackled through the air, striking two of the aliens directly, sending them flying backward with a jolt. However, the other aliens managed to dodge the attack and retaliated with a burst of energy from their blasters.
The blasts hit David squarely in the chest, but thanks to his ionic Aura, he only staggered backward slightly, absorbing the impact. With a grunt, he shook off the blow and darted forward, closing the distance between him and one of the aliens in an instant.
With his enhanced strength, David delivered a powerful punch to the imposter, sending it crashing into the ground with a resounding thud. As he turned to face the remaining aliens, he deftly dodged another energy blast, his senses alert and focused.
Using his ionic sense, David anticipated the movements of the aliens, effortlessly evading their attacks while launching lightning strikes of his own. The crackling energy danced around him, illuminating the scene as he engaged in a mix of close and ranged combat with his adversaries.
Despite their enhanced strength and blasters, the aliens were no match for David's skill and abilities. With each lightning blast and calculated strike, he wore them down, gaining the upper hand in the fight before the people inside the house could even begin to think about intervening. "He's clearly trained on top of possessing extraordinary abilities," Fury analysed from inside, while Talos just had this shocked look on his face watching this.
Finally, with a final burst of electricity, David incapacitated all the aliens, rendering them unconscious with a number of precise strikes from his palm. As the dust settled, he stood victorious, his ionic Aura pulsating with power as he surveyed the scene, a grin forming on his face.
David glanced back at the retreating Monica, ensuring her safety before turning to face Fury and Carol, a triumphant smile on his face. "Well, that was interesting," he quipped, his adrenaline still coursing through him, all he got from fury was a sigh and Carol just turned around to interrogate Talos.
