CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
Here I was again, back at an ever-familiar spot, underneath a bush, chewing on a root clutched between two paws. Chewing thoughtfully. A normal two days had passed by since Onyx had joined - most of the cats avoided him like the plague (I don't know why, but serves him right), so he was more like an outsider. Shadow had been avoiding me for a few days now, soooooo, I didn't know what do to, aside from trying to corner him.
That's what I was going to do today, then. Swallowing my last chunk of root, I got up, only to realize another cat was joining me.
"Onyx," I said mildly.
The cat glared at me silently through slitted eyes and then bared his fangs. "Your future mate has seemed like he wanted to slit my throat for a while now," Onyx said, and I tilted my head. "My who now?" I echoed, and Onyx frowned. "Shadow."
"How is he - No, wait. Why are you here?" I amended, stepping back. Onyx looked at me for a while, and then said, "I want to take Shadow back."
????!?!?!?!?!?
