*Kiara's POV*
"Hello, Adriel, I replied, keeping my tone dry.
"I brought you flowers." He smiled politely, handing me the bouquet. I could see how forced the smile was, but even so, it was a nice gesture coming from him. I stared at the white jades and stared back at his eyes.
My father's words kept ringing in my ear. Gifts include courting.
"I can't accept that, Adriel." I said,drawing my gaze from him.
"I understand,he said, retrieving it. "May I sit? Can you accept that? he asked, again ignoring the presence of Kaleb.
Kaleb's eyes shot at me,anxious to hear my answer.
It came late—perhaps too late since I actually considered the idea of telling Kaleb to leave so we could talk. I felt a rush of conflicting emotions as memories of the past flooded my mind. The past included everything—good and bad.
"What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you." He replied plainly.
