Just as he was about to drift back to sleep, another shock jolted him upright. This time, Wu Xie had had enough. He sat on the edge of the bed, glaring at Wovi with all the authority he could muster.
"Listen here, you little... whatever you are," Wu Xie started, his voice firm. "If you have something to say, say it now. Otherwise, no more shocks, got it?"
Wovi, undeterred, simply tilted his head to the side and blinked innocently. It was almost infuriating how cute he looked.
"Fine, fine," Wu Xie muttered, feeling slightly defeated by a creature the size of his palm. "I'll wake up now since we can't go out. I'll just read the book."
With a sigh, Wu Xie got up from the bed and reached for the book that had fallen from him last night.
As he flipped through the pages, his mind still buzzing with the morning's unexpected shocks, he suddenly heard a voice. It was soft and faint, yet unmistakably clear.
