Chapter 9: A new case emerged. The dead are back to life. How are you going to solve this, Bozo?

[Laiya seemed visibly angry. But she recognized your courage. "I know Warrior Chilly, you are a pervert who goes around mating with different ogres. But I didn't think you would have the balls to target me. Did your recent achievements make you arrogant?" She didn't lie. You were an infamous pervert. No wonder your girlfriend cheated on you.]

[You wanted to rectify the misunderstanding. "No miss Laiya, it was a mistake. I was-", you explained everything but then suddenly paused as you recalled how your words had been misinterpreted all this time. You grit your teeth, expecting a similar reaction from Laiya, but in contrast to that, she tapped her chin and said, "Then we must go to the infirmary immediately! Come, follow me."]

[You were surprised. Your jaw almost dropped. You couldn't believe your ears. It was the first time someone didn't misunderstand or misinterpret your words. You were baffled. You looked at Laiya as if you were looking at some strange creature. She felt the stare but didn't say anything.]

[Laiya walked out of the tent as she hinted you to do the same. You followed her. On the way, she said, "The infirmary is the closest to the battlefield. It was to facilitate the quick recovery of warriors by reaching them on time." - You nodded your head in understanding. You were thankful that you ended up in Laiya's tent and no one else's. Otherwise, by now, the matter would have been extremely complicated.]

[Adding to that, you tried to experiment. You wanted to see if Laiya was really able to understand you or if it was just a fluke. You readied your voice and then asked with a calm voice, "Miss Laiya, did you participate in the battle?"]

[Laiya replied peacefully but at the same time, flexed the muscles of her arm. "Why of course I did, didn't you watch me fight? I killed at least fifty goblins! Kuhahaha."]

[You shook your head. You wanted to say that you were unconscious but this time, you weren't even required to say a single word. She understood without you saying anything. "Ah, right, you were probably asleep from your Supreme display of strength."]

[Weirdly enough, your heart raced when you saw her smile. You placed your hand on your chest... you compared this feeling to something akin to the fun you had in the battle... but you still couldn't fully understand it. 'Am I suffering from fatigue?' - seriously? What's what you said? What a dense bastard.]

[You didn't pursue the matter as you had a much more important thing to deal with and forgave the syste- You never did.]

[Both of you arrived at a white tent covered with a few green leaves. From the entrance, you could look at the battlefield where hundreds of warriors had fallen. The sight of vultures and similar birds wasn't uncommon.]

[You and Laiya entered the tent. The little lighting from the lamps and mana crystals helped your vision by a bit as you noticed a few cries from some female ogre warriors who were in pain.]

[Other than that, you also noticed a few dead bodies that were thrown to the side. You noticed how they were covered in blood. You felt pity and sadness at the same time.]

[Laiya went to straight towards one of the female ogres, who was her friend. "Niya? You... This..." She was at a loss for words as she noticed her abdomen bleeding. There was a purple mark around it and the blood kept draining out.]

["L-laiya...", she said softly, looking at her friend. Laiya in return, asked, "What happened to you Niya? This wound, it seems too weird. What exactly..."]

[Niya didn't wait for Laiya to stop. She interrupted and said, "I don't know Laiya... an arrow hit me and the bleeding isn't stopping. It's hurting. It's burning Laiya." Tears drenched her face.]

[You noticed that she had lost a large amount of blood. Her face had become as skinny as it could get. You were worried but didn't intervene and let the friends have a talk. You walked towards the other injured ones who were suffering with the same bleeding disorder.]

[You looked at the corpses. You noticed that they were skinny as well and deduced that their cause of death was also excessive bleeding.]

[You continued to stare at the bodies while wondering what the old female ogre was saying. Before you could figure out, you noticed a slight movement. One of the arms that was down, slowly moved a little above.]

[This didn't go unnoticed. You walked ahead, to check and suddenly a skinny male ogre jumped out of the corpse, attacking you. It tried to bite you. At first, because of the rotting stench, you made a disgusting face. But after smelling this ogre's mouth, you couldn't help but puke. But you controlled. You couldn't falter in front of a female ogre, especially Laiya.]

[You focused back at the situation. Because of your sore muscles, you couldn't dodge the attack. But at the last minute, you were able to hold the ogre from ripping your head off.]

[If not head, then arm. As if it were a policy, the ogre bit your right forearm. Its teeth, quite sharp, penetrated your thick skin and caused you a small wound that started bleeding. It tried to bite further, but you didn't let it do that. You tightened your muscle and then with your left hand, you gave a strong smack to the head.]

[Bam! The foe went flying with your attack which instantly caught Laiya and others' attention.]

["Warrior Chilly, what happened?", Laiya turned towards you in confusion. She noticed that your arm was bleeding. She rushed towards you as she also noticed the skinny ogres, the pile of deads, rising up. Their eyes were completely red and they seemed to have no emotion. ]

[Laiya didn't bring any weapon with her. But her fists were enough. With a half-confident smile, she asked, "How are dead bodies moving?"]

[And you, trying to act smart, said, "That's exactly what we need to find out, Miss Laiya." Both you slowly moved back and distanced yourself from these dead bodies that made the sound - "Gooo."]
