they finally returned to the safe house. Javier called the staff at the safe house to unload the exchanged supplies. The scene was a bit chaotic, so he said, "Leave your card numbers and go back. I will calculate the work points and transfer them to your cards tomorrow."
A staff member handed them a form. Alice filled in her card number and then left in her car. Seeing Hurley still standing there, Alice couldn't help but wonder if he had a place to stay. The next moment, she shook her head. He was a researcher valued by the safe house, and they wouldn't mistreat him in terms of accommodation. She shouldn't worry about it.
Alice drove away without hesitation. Hurley watched her leave, pursing his lips. No conscience, not even saying a word before leaving.
Alice arrived at the parking lot and saw two men looking around suspiciously. One of them was holding a bucket, which seemed to contain gasoline. When they noticed Alice driving in, the two men quickly left, carrying their belongings.
After parking the car, Alice got out and used tools from the trunk to siphon out the gasoline. The safe house wasn't entirely safe, and only the owner of that car seemed careless. Wasn't it practically an invitation for thieves?
Just as Alice finished siphoning the gasoline, a family of four walked into the parking lot through the entrance. Alice didn't pay much attention, locked her car, and walked out carrying the gasoline can
Not long after, a furious roar echoed, "Who stole my gasoline?" Footsteps approached, and a young couple blocked Alice. They looked at the green gasoline can in her hands and sternly asked, "Did you steal the gasoline from our car?"
"This is the gasoline from my car, not yours. You arrived too late; two people just stole your gasoline a moment ago," Alice replied.
The angry woman glared at her and sharply said, "Why didn't you stop them?"
Alice chuckled, "Your words are really interesting. We have no relation, why should I risk myself to help you?"
The man's eyes lit up with sudden realization, "I get it. There were no thieves at all; you made it up. You're the thief."
Did they really think she had no backbone?
.
Alice put down the gasoline can, flexed her fingers, and thought, "Great, another warm-up."
As the two rushed towards her, she quickly reached out, grabbing their collars, then pressed their heads together and forcefully slammed them into each other.
The two individuals were left dazed, seeing stars, and could barely stand.hidden.
Two older individuals hurried over, and the older woman apologized, "Miss, I'm sorry. My two kids are not sensible. They were just anxious, leading to this misunderstanding."
The older man gave each of them a slap and scolded, "Apologize immediately."
The young couple looked at Alice with fear and murmured, "Sorry, we misunderstood."
Alice stared at them coldly, "If there's a second time, you won't be so lucky."
Alice picked up the gasoline and walked away. At the entrance of the parking lot, she turned back and warned, "Better not attempt to damage my car. The consequences are beyond what you can bear."
"You're back, little sister!" Alexander reacted first and rushed over to hug her.
Following him, Arnold took the gasoline can from her hands and asked with a gentle smile, "Was the journey smooth?"
"Everything is fine," Alice entered the house and was promptly pulled away by Blanche.
"It's finally good to have you back. We called you so many times, but no one answered."
Due to Alice's sudden return, Alexander had prepared two extra dishes. Blanche held Alice's face and scrutinized her for a while, "Why do I feel like you've lost weight? You must have been hungry on the way."
Blanche solemnly said, "Being busy outside affects your appetite, making it easy for people to get thin."
This wasn't just Blanche's opinion; everyone at home seemed to agree.
Under the 'care' of her family, Alice ended up eating twice as much as usual. As a result, she had to work out for two hours to digest it all.
Perhaps this was the sweet burden of family?
She walked into the living room and found only Blanche there. Puzzled, she asked, "Where's Dad and the brothers?"
"Oh, I forgot to tell you last night. Your dad found a job at the safe house. He's now the supervisor at the power plant. Your eldest brother is a small leader in the military factory,
Someone had to take care of the house, or else Blanche would also be looking for a job outside.
Alice raised her eyebrows in surprise. The Allen family members were indeed outstanding!
She sat down for breakfast and suddenly felt something was off. "It doesn't seem very hot today."
Blanche smiled and responded, "Yeah, today's temperature is only thirty degrees. Used to fifty-degree heat, thirty degrees doesn't feel very hot."
Upon hearing this, Alice paused. She calculated the time – the extreme cold was approaching! Probably this week.
Suddenly, cheers erupted outside. Many people shouted, "It's cooling down! We can go back to normal life now."
After breakfast, Alice went outside for a stroll. Normally, there weren't many people active during the day in the safe house, but today it was bustling with activity. People sat on the grass chatting, flew kites, and shared their stories. Everything looked peaceful and beautiful.
However, this beauty was quickly shattered. It snowed heavily that evening, catching everyone by surprise.
"Maybe this snow has its own thoughts."
"Is it important whether it snows or not? Haven't you noticed that the weather is getting colder?"
"The outside temperature has already dropped to single digits."
"Quickly take out thick clothes and blankets. Tonight, it might drop below zero."
"It's better not to go out. Our bodies haven't recovered from the high-temperature weather, and suddenly facing the cold might be too much."
The Allen family, father and two sons, pushed open the door and walked in. They were shivering from head to toe, having gone out today in thin clothes, only to encounter a sudden snowfall, making the journey back a freezing ordeal.
Alexander's teeth were chattering, "It's so much more comfortable at home... people outside must be freezing like crazy."
Atticus reached out with trembling hands and patted his head, frowning, "No swearing allowed."
Alexander: "..."
