Mo Fan, visibly agitated, crushed the jade cup in his hand. "After the former emperor's death, the Blue Flame Empire, which had long feared him, finally made their move."
"That day, the Blue Flame palace was filled with powerful figures. Han Feng, carrying the former emperor's body, tried to break through but was attacked by three Martial Emperors. He was stabbed seven times, slashed six times, and punched eighty-one times before dying a tragic death."
"The strong fighters of Tianxuan, already wounded and weakened from the War for the Sacred, had not fully recovered from the former emperor's death and were constantly haunted by it. They were ambushed and attacked by the Blue Flame Empire."
"The Blue Flame Empire had planned this for a long time, biding their time. With everything in their favor, they wiped out the entire Tianxuan forces."
"I was lucky to escape the chaos, fighting my way through miles of enemy territory. I returned to Tiannan City, barely clinging to life, but succumbed to my injuries."
"After learning about the Blue Flame Empire's ambush, the great sects were outraged and demanded an explanation from Blue Flame Empire. But by then, it was too late. The sects couldn't destroy them for the sake of the fallen Tianxuan Empire, as they needed someone to fight in future Wars for the Sacred."
"So, they only forced the Blue Flame Empire to promise not to annex Tianxuan and extracted some benefits before cooperating with Blue Flame Empire to seal the information, considering the matter settled."
"Due to pressure from the great sects, the Blue Flame Empire couldn't directly invade Tianxuan. Instead, they sent people to fake the former emperor's edict, ordering you to ascend the throne. They secretly colluded with the four major sects, offering great benefits and planning a slow conquest."
"They thought that you, a mere woman, would be easy to handle. But you defied their expectations, breaking through to the Martial Emperor level and extending Tianxuan's reign by hundreds of years."
As Mo Fan spoke, the Empress's breath became erratic, as if she were on the verge of exploding.
The tea on the table froze into ice, and the surrounding illusory mist turned into ice shards that fell to the ground with a crackling sound.
"Is it true that the Blue Flame Empire killed my father and brother?" The Empress's expression was icy. She couldn't believe that the Blue Flame Empire would commit such a fratricidal act.
But Mo Fan's words were highly credible.
In fact, everything Mo Fan said was true, except for inserting himself into the story.
This was a plot he had designed, only revealing it early to gain the Empress's trust.
"The Blue Flame Empire has always eyed Tianxuan with hostility; didn't you know?" Mo Fan sighed, melting the ice in his cup and drinking it all in one go.
Mo Fan shook his head and recited a timeless poem from his previous life: "Boiling beans burn on a beanstalk fire, the beans in the pot cry out. Born of the same root, why should we kill each other so hastily?"
He would never miss an opportunity to show off.
Hearing Mo Fan recite the poem, the Empress's eyes flickered.
This poem aptly described the Blue Flame Empire's ambush on her father, brother, and other powerful figures.
They were all of the same human race, supposed to work together for humanity's survival and prosperity.
But instead, for personal gain, they ambushed their compatriots, causing the high-ranking forces of a brotherly nation to be completely annihilated, and used various underhanded tactics to try and destroy another country!
Such internal strife, directed at one's own people, only brought pain to the loved ones and joy to the enemies.
The Empress, in pain and silence for a long time, finally spoke. "Then, why are you here now, revealing all this to me?"
She wasn't impulsive, rushing to seek revenge upon hearing about her father's and brother's deaths.
The Empress, with her icy resolve, was more composed than anyone. She knew that the current Tianxuan Empire, plagued by internal and external troubles and weakened, had no strength to confront the Blue Flame Empire.
So, she quickly shifted her focus, probing into why Mo Fan, who had supposedly died hundreds of years ago, was now mysteriously before her.
Seeing this, Mo Fan knew that the Empress had started to believe him. This first step was solid.
He smiled and shamelessly said, "Don't call me senior. I was a close friend of Han Feng; you can call me brother."
The Empress was stunned but couldn't bring herself to say it.
Mo Fan didn't press her further. Just as rice must be eaten one bite at a time and roads must be walked one step at a time, he explained, "I have been dead for many years, but due to a unique cultivation method and a stroke of luck, my soul has not been extinguished. There might be a chance for me to be reborn in the future."
"Today, perhaps due to your thoughts, I received a call and appeared here."
Mo Fan's words were half-truth and half-lies, making it difficult for the Empress to discern their authenticity.
The Empress was skeptical. A person dead for hundreds of years could be reborn? She had never heard of such a thing.
However, recently, the Mo family had produced Mo Qingkuang, who showed great promise, potentially because of this manifestation.
With Mo Qingkuang's emergence, the Tianxuan Empire had started showing signs of revival. The Imperial Academy, which had been suppressed by the four major sects for hundreds of years, had recently achieved great success and gained significant recognition.
Perhaps this War Emperor, Mo Fan, indeed possessed some mysterious and special abilities.
"I know you have many doubts. I will answer them for you when the time comes. Time is short; I must go now," Mo Fan said with a calm smile.
Maintaining a sense of mystery and leaving room for speculation would increase the Empress's anticipation.
After speaking, Mo Fan waved his hand gently. The ice melted, and white mist rose again.
His figure gradually became illusory and slowly dissipated into the mist.
He couldn't stay too long. The Empress was not like an ordinary Martial Emperor.
Although Mo Fan's soul had been strengthened through the cultivation of the Soul Nurturing Scripture, enabling him to appear before Martial Kings or Martial Emperors without being detected, the Empress was a different story. If she detected any anomaly, it would be a significant problem.
Even if the Empress didn't act against him, it would be detrimental to his plan of winning her over and influencing the fate of the Tianxuan Empire.
The Empress looked at the unfamiliar and mysterious space, the steaming teacup on the table, and the spot where Mo Fan had been sitting.
She murmured, "When will I see you again?"
Faintly, a voice emerged from the mist, "If you enter the dream, I will come."
"If you enter the dream, I will come," the Empress repeated Mo Fan's words as the surrounding mist began to dissipate. The stone table and benches slowly vanished into nothingness.
Losing her support, the Empress almost stumbled and quickly stood up.
She was awake!
Opening her eyes, she found herself still in the grand hall. Her body had shuddered violently in her sleep, waking her up.
Looking around at the lavish decorations and the spacious hall, the Empress appeared bewildered. "Was it all a dream?"
"But why did he come to tell me these things?" The Empress frowned slightly, pondering. "What is he trying to convey?"
The Empress thought for a long time without finding a definitive answer.
The reality or falsehood of the dream was something she couldn't ascertain.
"War Emperor Mo Fan?"
"Someone, come here," the Empress called softly after gathering her thoughts.
A maid immediately responded from the side of the hall, "Your Majesty."
"Find Dean Hua and have him investigate War Emperor Mo Fan! And, if possible, thoroughly investigate the Mo family in Tiannan City."
"Yes, Your Majesty..."
