Kapitel 30: Two Mages’ Wrath

“Can you tell me the reason? Why do you have such a strong desire to kill Danesse? I know that he always picks on you, but he still has Scarcia's blood running through his veins, just like you. I want you to think about it.”

Albert said solemnly. Although he himself was not fond of his brother and nephews, the thought of killing them had never crossed his mind. There may be times when they were at odds with each other, but he chose to forgive whenever he could. He did not want to witness his family members sabotaging each other.

“I have my reason.”

Arias unconsciously gripped the falchion that he was about to return to its place. The grip was so strong that the falchion was almost crushed by the force.

“Regardless of the reason, you should never wish to kill your family member! That is treason against your own blood.”

Albert expressed his displeasure. He was becoming irritated with his son, who was being so stubborn and disobedient.

“What if I told you that my reason was revenge? Would that be enough to justify my wish to kill him?”

Arias turned to look at Albert, his eyes ablaze with rage that he could no longer contain. Aside from becoming a powerful mage, avenging the death of the old Arias was the goal that he must achieve. It was an oath that he had given to this body that no matter what, he would take their blood as a sacrifice for the soul of the old Arias.

“You fell into the river because of them!?”

Though he was kind, Albert was not foolish. He was able to arrive at some conclusions just by looking into Arias’ eyes. The vengeful glare in those eyes did not stem from something trivial. There was only one reason he could think of.

“That’s right. It was the two of them. I can still remember it very well, the look in their eyes as they watched me struggle in that river until I drowned. Was that enough to justify my wish to kill them?”

Arias gritted his teeth in anger. The flames of rage had been ingrained deep within his heart, and it blazed every time he thought about the incident.

“So it was them!”

The anger inside Albert’s heart erupted upon hearing Arias’ confirmation. The sorrow he felt back when he thought he had lost his son soon engulfed his heart once again. His voice was trembling with rage. When Arias fell into that river, Albert did not fully believe that it was an accident. But since Arias did not say anything, there was nothing that he could do. But now, hearing the truth from Arias, his heart was ablaze with furry.

He took a quick stride toward the door, and a claymore called into his hand from his dimensional ring. The claymore’s blade was wide, double the width of normal swords’ blades. It made a sound that resonated throughout the area whenever it touched the floor.

“Where are you going?”

Arias took a quick step to block Albert’s path.

“I’m going to drag those two out and punish them. Today, I will settle this with them and Merson!”

At that moment, Albert’s voice was full of anger.

“Get out of my way!”

Arias who tried to block the path was pushed aside by Albert’s magic, and his body went flying away from the man. Though he was not gravely hurt, the impact gave him a sharp pain in his abdomen. He hurriedly pushed himself up, but it was too late. There was no sign of Albert in the room.

“Seems like things have gotten out of hand.”

Arias seemed to have made a major mistake in his decision. He had forgotten that his father was quite hot-tempered. He should have thought about this since the time his father almost got into a fight with Merson just because Merson was mocking him. After learning that Mashelle and Danesse deliberately tried to kill him, it would be absurd if his father did not become enraged. Arias felt like banging his head against the hard wall of the training chamber. How could he make such a mistake?

Arias quickly ran after his father. He could not see even a glimpse of him, but he already knew where Albert was heading.

Frantic shouts of servants and guards could be heard along the way. Chaos could be found everywhere Arias ran past. Ahead of him, Arias noticed Kanl hurrying toward the same direction.

“Arias, what’s going on? The servants told me that your father is acting like a maniac.”

Arias turned to look at Maria, who had appeared out of nowhere and was now standing beside him with an anxious look on her face. Seemingly, the news had quickly spread throughout the manor.

“I don’t have time to explain. Let’s go find Father.”

Not wanting Maria to lose her temper like Albert, Arias decided not to give much of an explanation.

The two of them came to a stop in front of Merson’s room. The door had been ruined, a big mark was left on it by the claymore. Loud noises emanating from inside the room. There was evidence of a fight everywhere, and the household items had been destroyed. Marks of the sword and pieces of earth formed by magic could still be seen on the floor. Inside the room, multiple fires were burning.

“What’s gotten into you, Albert!?”

Merson wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and asked.

“I said, bring your sons here!”

Albert shouted in anger. He gripped the claymore in his hand and charged at Merson once again.

Merson did not let himself become an easy target, he quickly dodged Albert’s attack. Claymores may be able to deliver a powerful blow, but they were slow compared to other types of weapons.

CRASH!

The claymore landed on the floor, leaving a long cut. Its blade was several inches deep in the floor. Brick fragments were strewn throughout. If Merson was still standing there, he would most likely be in grave condition now.

“Blazing Arrows.”

Merson took the chance to launch a rapid attack on Albert. A magic circle appeared on his palm. The magic circle released flames in the shape of numerous arrows, all of which flew at high speed toward Alber.

Albert hastily lifted his claymore to fend off the arrows. The distinct feature of a claymore was its powerful strike, but it could also be used as a makeshift shield. Albert’s claymore was only a mid-level weapon, but with his power, Albert was able to protect himself against the Blazing Arrows without much difficulty. However, some of the flames managed to reach his body.

The flames spread across the area, turning the entire room red as if it were an ocean of fire. Albert’s power was still a level higher than Merson’s, giving him the upper hand in this fight.

Arias could only watch, unable to interfere. The fight between warrior-level mages wasn’t something that he could just step in and intervene. The two men were still charging at each other without pausing and the whole room had been destroyed. Albert had used the Blessing of Terra to protect his body but still sustained some injuries. As for Merson, he was in pretty bad shape, with a large slash on his body left by Albert’s claymore. Fortunately, he could avoid the claymore’s direct blow, and Albert was also holding back on his power, otherwise, he would not still be standing there with a smirk on his face like that.

Arias looked around and was surprised by something. Many people were not present as they should have been. The sources of the chaos, Mashelle, and Danesse were nowhere in sight. Kanl, who had come ahead of him, was not in the room. Even Farhan, who was supposed to be here to break up the fight was also absent.

In fact, Arias had wanted to kill those two by himself. That was why he did not reveal the truth about him being pushed into the river to Albert and Maria. He knew that if he told them, it would become a big problem, as it was now.

“Arias, what is actually going on?”

Maria asked worriedly.

“Uh...the thing is…”

Arias did not know how to break this to Maria.

“Drag your sons out here right now. They must be punished for trying to kill my son!”

No one was able to believe their ears as Albert said those words in a thundering voice.

“Arias, is it true!?”

Maria’s voice trembled slightly and her hands clenched in rage.

“It’s true, Mother.”

Since everything had gotten this far, Arias did not want to hide it anymore. He decided to tell the truth.

“Hydro Spear!”

As soon as Arias’ words came out, a blue spear made out of the Water Magic quickly appeared in Maria’s hand.

SCHUNK!

The spear was thrown toward Merson’s direction with accuracy. It precisely stabbed one of his legs, causing blood to splatter from the wound.

Arias was left utterly shocked by the sight in front of him. He did not even have time to stop his mother. There was no word of warning before she attacked. As soon as she heard the confirmation from Arias, she immediately jumped into the fight with rage. Maria who had always held herself like a noble lady had become a maniacal mage just like Albert.

“Have you got no dignity, sneaking an attack on me? Is this the daughter of the Richart Clan’s leader?”

Merson’s teeth gritted in anger and his eyes glared at Maria in resentment. His hand was gripping a crimson-red spear to counter Albert’s attack. Now he had to worry about Maria who had also joined the fight. Fighting two battles was not something he could manage. Suddenly, he came up with the last way out. It was a trump card that he did not want to play.

“What are you doing!? Stop right this instant.”

A familiar voice came from one side of the corridor, making everyone turn to look at the source, including the three mages who were still fighting. Maria who was about to join out of anger had to stop herself as an elderly man walked in with an intimidating aura. Farhan appeared to have arrived at just the right time.

Merson saw an opportunity. He raised the spear in his hand and prepared to strike Albert.

“Father, look out!”

With Arias’ warning, Albert was able to dodge the full swing of the spear, but it still left a long cut on his chest. Blood began to seep through his shirt and spread.

“You dirty dog!”

Albert gritted his teeth in pain. One of his hands rested on the wound while the other tightly gripped his claymore. He quickly pushed himself forward to strike Merson again.

“You still dare to fight right in front of me, you insolent children!”

Farhan shouted in intense rage. An oppressive aura spread throughout the area, and his body moved so fast that it appeared as if he had vanished from his original position. He appeared between Albert and Merson, his magical power threw both of them back in opposite directions. He cast an indignant glance at their battered state.

“Will anyone explain to me what is going on!?”

He looked around. All of the servants could only lower their heads, not daring to meet his eyes. They all had the same question as Farhan— what was going on here?
