It was several more seconds before the flames started to work on the blood, and when said blood reached a boiling point, Sakari's hoarse screams rang out.

What was it like to have scalding blood that was also acidic on one's self? Lokus could only consider himself lucky that the flames hid the answer.

When they finally died out, the sight left behind was a ghastly one.

Sakari's clothes had completely dissolved, and most of the skin on the front of her body was gone as well, exposing raw red meat and stark white bone to the air.

Every drop of rain and each slight breeze caused her to flinch, the reddened orbs that were her eyes swiveling around in their sockets as if looking for a way to end the pain.

"Can you clean this arm?" Lokus asked her, gently shaking the arm he held. The demon's blood was still working its way through the flesh and into the bone.

Only a weak groan was his answer. He asked again, but Sakari didn't even muster a groan.
