Kapitel 29: Chapter 29: Three Check-ins, The Scorching Doomsday Arrives

Although unsure about ensuring others' safety, speaking kindly is always right.

No matter how the outside world changes, Charles remains a significant force in battle. Having him on his side means less trouble.

His fortress is strong, but the future is unpredictable.

If normal order restores outside, heavily armed forces might arrive.

Even if bombs can't breach his door, it doesn't mean all thermal weapons are ineffective.

Bombs are powerful but limited to area impact; laser cutting weapons could potentially breach David's door. Defending against high-explosive bombs isn't remarkable; the strongest human weapon is the hydrogen bomb, which his house can't withstand, at least not now.

Thus, allying with some humans benefits him.

But Charles, a shrewd man, isn't easily swayed by David's words despite his anxiety.

He continued, "Brother, we're planning to go outside and look around. The weather is much more comfortable now, and people are trying their luck on the streets, although the ice hasn't melted. I'm also sending my people out, ideally to find food reserves, but many are restless due to the rising temperature."

Most of Charles' subordinates joined him for survival during the extreme cold, doing many bad things. Though these actions helped them survive, they fear government retribution when order returns.

David smiled, "Food? No need."

"Charles, come to me at 1 a.m. tomorrow; I have a surprise for you."

"Of course, exploring is necessary, always keeping up with the world's changes."

Charles, delighted, knew David decided to help. "Then I'll wait for your big surprise, brother. See you at 1 a.m.!"

"Of course," David confidently said.

Charles left crisply, without dragging on, a likable trait.

David had been cautious of Charles, but now he sees Charles as just a man with a strong ability to assess situations and clear foresight. He had previously said he wouldn't disturb David, and he hadn't. His surveillance showed no sneaking around his room, and after Charles entered Jones' home, he never discussed his matters, only occasionally expressing his feelings.

Such a person is fearsome yet reliable, and as long as David continues to demonstrate strength, Charles won't betray him.

Therefore, David decided to help them.

He looked at the snow-covered world outside. Listening to Charles, he knew the frozen world would soon dissipate. Many might be cheering at this moment, but David felt the world wouldn't just normalize; tougher challenges awaited. His house was a safe haven during the Freezing Doomsday, but not necessarily in the future. He just needed to survive to grow stronger.

He returned to his bedroom, heavy-hearted, no longer interested in the game on his computer. He turned off the computer to save power and lay on his soft bed, thinking nothing, doing nothing, just lying there, idly wasting time.

Then, time slowly passed.

At dawn, it was time to check in again. But today's check-in message was unusual.

"Last day of the Freezing Doomsday, considering your past performance, you've earned a reward for defending your territory: Loyalty Candy."

"Loyalty Candy: Consuming it ensures absolute loyalty, never to betray."

"Freezing Doomsday last day reward: Ice Grenade (daily)."

"Scorching Doomsday first day reward: House Layout Redesign*1."

A flood of information entered his mind, revealing mysteries.

He had thought his system would mechanically say 'Today's check-in reward is xx' every day at dawn. But these messages held interesting implications.

They indeed experienced a doomsday, but only a phase - the Freezing Doomsday.

Next is the Scorching Doomsday. If the cold brought hailstorms, would the heat bring firestorms or volcanic eruptions?

This was terrifying!

But the temperature shouldn't affect him much, thanks to his level three walls with climate control. However, if disasters like fire rain, volcanic eruptions, or meteorite impacts occurred, he couldn't withstand them.

David sighed. Indeed, the world wouldn't let him rest easily during the apocalypse. But he also knew that surviving each phase of the apocalypse would grant him additional rewards. And on the day the phases overlapped, he could check in twice.

In a way, he checked in three times today.

The Loyalty Candy, a valuable item, but he didn't plan to use it on Charles now. He knew Charles well enough; using it would be a waste.

Next was the Ice Grenade (daily), a good item. Throwing it wouldn't cause an explosion but create water and cold air, quickly freezing a specific area. Most importantly, it refreshes daily. Used today, another would be available tomorrow.

Finally, the House Layout Redesign.
