Kapitel 13: ORCHID

[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: THE LIGHT IS COMING ~ ARIANA GRANDE FEAT NICKI MINAJ]

Lily walked back inside the police station, no longer feeling tired or cold. In fact, her whole body was alive and warm with the scene that had just played out in front of her. Her first encounter with the devil, someone who stabbed a person effortlessly like they were a bag of rice. The thought made Lily shiver again as she ran back inside the police station, walking to where her brother was held.

On entering, Lily saw the policemen lined up as they bowed to a person who was sitting on a chair with his legs crossed. Lily wondered if maybe the head of police entered the place while she was outside. Maybe he would help her if she explained her brother's plight. Lily nodded, walking to where the man was sitting.

The devil...

Lily's feet froze on the spot when she saw the same man who almost killed someone a while ago now sitting comfortably like he owned the place, while going through the files that were handed to him. Lily had never been so confused in her life; she wanted to sneak away from there when she heard the man speak.

"I want to see the bag you got from the offenders." The icy voice that chilled people around the man was heard again. Lily shuddered when she heard the devil's voice again, but she couldn't just go away; he was asking about her brother's case.

When the bag was brought forward, Lily watched the man do something she didn't understand with the substance. She stood there waiting for the man to say something, but nothing; he just handed it over to the police and stood up from his chair, making his way to the door when someone shouted.

"My guardian angel!! Don't let me rot away here!!" Shadow shouted on top of his voice. He had been happy when he saw Raven step inside. He assumed Raven came to rescue him, only for the man to finish with his business and turn to leave. This was his only opportunity and he couldn't let go.

Raven sighed when he heard Shadow's voice; he didn't come here to bail the man out. If he got himself in the mess, then he should get himself out. He continued walking when an annoying officer came to stand in front of him.

"Sir, do you perhaps know the man over there?" The policeman asked.

Raven's eyes went down to look at the man's name on his tag, "Officer Jeffrey, you're blocking my way." He replied with a tone of indifference. If Raven despised anyone, it was people who pried into things that didn't concern them, and the officer in front of him appeared like someone of that nature. People like him always caused irreparable problems, and it was better to avoid them.

Jeffrey bowed, "I'm sorry." He moved away from the door. He noticed how even their Captain groveled at this stranger's feet, and it made him suspect the man. It was his type that corrupted the police because they feel they have money to throw over every case. Jeffrey decided to find out the reason why the man had come all the way just to check out the drugs when he was not even in the Narcs. Something was suspicious.

Raven started walking out before he stopped, going back to where Shadow was detained. He said, "You might want to let him go."

Lily furrowed her brows; who was this man? Who acted like everything and everyone belonged to him. How could he just come here and release an offender? It was not even possible.

Jeffrey, now interested in the pervert case, walked there and asked, "I thought you didn't know him. This man here is a pervert."

Raven brought out a white paper and dropped it on the table.

Jeffrey rushed to grab the paper, reading through the contents. He frowned, "Parkinson's disease?"

Even Shadow was shocked at this; he blinked at the diagnosis.

"That's the reason? He has Parkinson's disease. Release this man at once!" The captain ordered, and soon Shadow was released without any more questioning.

Jeffrey didn't like this one bit; there was no investigation, and they just accepted this strange man's diagnosis. "That's not right. We didn't even get the man's name, and the victim still feels bad."

Raven's brows raised by default, just like he predicted; this one was going to be like a stubborn gum when stepped on.

"To apologize properly to the victim, let me drop her home and pay the fine." Raven replied; he had already spent enough time, longer than he expected in the police station.

Victoria cleared her throat, pushing her bosom out again she nodded. "I didn't know this man was sick; I should have suspected with the way he looks. I'll accept your offer since you're a good man." The girl smiled.

Lily knew that face very well; Victoria was falling for this man already, she sighed. Her friend was finally going to hell because she was falling for a devil. If only she knew.

"Lily, let's go. We are getting a free ride." Victoria waved for Lily to join her.

Lily shook her head, "No, I'm fine; you can go. I'll leave later." She didn't want to even enter the man's car or let him know where she lived. After he had subtly threatened her outside, she didn't want anything to do with him.

"Lil baby! Let's go already. They won't let you see Fred. We can come back tomorrow." Victoria dragged Lily, bowing to the police as she left happily.

Raven dipped his hands inside his trouser pocket, "I guess everything is settled now." Saying this, he gave a final look at the nosey officer before he started walking out.

Shadow touched his face, "How do I look? What did she mean with the way I look?" He shook his head while leaving the police station.

Jeffrey hit the table angrily, "How can a young person have Parkinson's disease! And who is that man to diagnose that? What has the police turned into, even you, Captain. How much did he give you for you to even let him on a drug case?"

The captain scoffed, "You should be careful in this line of work, boy. You are the only person who doesn't know Ryker Zayne. He is a medical doctor, one of the greatest. All the hospitals around here he owns them; he also helps the Narcs sometimes to check out drugs when they retrieve them. We should count our blessings for someone that special to grace our police station." The elderly said, moving the stick that was in his mouth before drinking the paper coffee he was holding.

"Ryker Zayne?" Jeffrey muttered.

One of the officers walked to hold Jeffrey's shoulder, "You shouldn't always suspect everyone because they are rich. Chairman Ryker saved my mother's life and we never paid a dime for the bills. He is a good man." Saying this, the officer walked away, leaving behind a confused Jeffrey.

Jeffrey decided he would look into the man; something about the man they all call a savior made him suspicious. A person can never be too perfect; it only means there were some deadly secrets they were hiding. And this was Jeffrey's theory.
