It was around dawn that Zariel finally managed to escape the bandages, returning to his estate in Salem. Just in time to see Sura in his foyer alongside Genny. She grinned at the sight of the boy raising a box in her arms.
"Twenty Arcane Stones. Sixth Grades. What are they for anyway?"
Zariel gave a mirthless smile, seizing the box from her hands through the use of the intangible force of his Astral Qi.
"I hope it was worth it."
"What was?"
"Nearly killing Darrian," said Sura, folding her arms. "You know that he is the Queen's little brother."
"Cool. So what?"
"Are you daft? The queen's brother. She's a Ninth Circle. Queen Zarilla Solvis, Arch-Mage of the Frozen Hell. We saved you a lot of trouble."
Idly, Zariel glanced at the grandfather clock in his foyer. "I'll take your word on it. Anyway, I've got a class in a few minutes. Is there anything else you might need?"
"Can I join?" Sura asked.
