Natalie had ridden in the Audi with Alonso behind the wheel many times before, but she had never been worried about his driving until now.
"Slow down!" she burst out when he passed another car on the right.
The Audi accelerated even more when Alonso pressed harder on the gas pedal with an angry expression that made him look like a different man. She was about to shout again when the car screeched to a stop.
Instead of making eye contact with her, Alonso quickly reached for his phone.
"What!" he shouted into the phone then took a deep breath. "Head to the mansion before us, Sophia, we're on our way," he ended the call then released a heavy sigh.
"What just happened in there, Alonso?" Natalie asked with the tone of someone who felt the sting of betrayal "What was with that cringe-worthy exit, dragging me out like that?"
Alonso appeared like he was wrestling with a brewing storm within him before he finally turned to face her.
