Kapitel 65: A Much Closer Bond

Ophelia's POV:

I had no clue if it was a mirage or the truth, fiction or reality, a state of placebo or the final coming to–yet the heart of a human was beating inside me. Ophelia was her name, the girl who'd been consumed by her father's ambition to grant her immortality, but now as I lay there, wrapped in the arms of a man I loved, was I her? Or someone else entirely?

"Ray…" Turning around in bed, I tried to distract myself by looking at him. As charming as ever, he lay there by my side, his shirt unbuttoned, and his boxers barely hanging. Moving my head close, I planted a gentle kiss on his forehead. "Numerous centuries, and only now have I found love."

The thought alone gave our bond that more value. It wasn't I who chose him, and neither the other way around–time itself had brought the two of us together.

"Mhnmm," groaning to my touch as I tried to run my hand through his hair, his eyes slowly opened up to look at me.
