The receptionist was stupefied.

He stared at the two men, wondering why they were looking for the boss so late at night.

He glanced at them and said, "The boss has already left. He left hours ago, and even if he were here, you wouldn't be able to see him without an appointment."

He watched as the faces of Mo Zi Lin and Director Zhang fell. This was not the answer they were expecting.

"Then call him," Director Zhang insisted. "This is important, and if you delay any longer, even your job might be on the line."

Most of the time, Xu Jingli would stay late at the office, so it was rare for someone to come looking for him and not find him there. But tonight was one of those rare occasions when he wasn't in the office.

The receptionist smiled apologetically and said, "I'm really sorry, but I'm not allowed to call the boss after work hours. Either you visit in the morning, or if you have his personal contact, you can call him yourselves."
