Kapitel 282: Chapter 282 : Thousand Years Old

"Let me see, where to start telling you this story. I'm not even sure if you'll believe me if I say the whole thing.

Would you believe me if I said that I am thousand years old?" Eric asked with a slight smile, as if he already knew the boy in front of him wouldn't believe him. But something told him that this wasn't an ordinary person.

The child in front of him was different. Even though Eric was dead and without flesh, making it impossible to sense magic, he could still feel the immense amount of magical power hidden within the boy.

Just his presence made the entire place, which was reinforced with magic, shake as if a 10.0 magnitude earthquake had hit the manor.

The cracks along the floors were enough for Eric to identify Orion as a very dangerous individual.

Now, he was asking why the person in front of him was interested in his story, and more than anything, why he was just a child.

'Could it be that he is an old wizard hiding in that child's body to deceive everyone? He surely must have some kind of conspiracy to act like that, right?' Eric couldn't help but think internally.

Now, this so-called child was asking about his life story and why he turned into a vampire. The worst part was that if he didn't say anything, this boy might destroy the picture, ultimately killing him.

And as for what he said about his body killing his dog? Like he believed him!

What kind of powerful man like the one standing in front of him would be so mad over a dog? It's just a dog.

Unfortunately, Eric didn't know that it wasn't just any dog; it was Orion D. Ambrosius's dog.

"Just stop wasting time and get on with it already." Orion yawned again, sleep making him more irritated.

Orion, on the other hand, wasn't particularly interested. It was surprising that the man claimed to be a thousand years old, but only if he was telling the truth, which Orion didn't believe at all.

After all, even Merlin barely managed to live up to the 1000-year mark, and he's Merlin. There's no way this random nobody could do that.

Though it's kind of possible if he died a long time ago. If Eric died like 400 or 500 years ago, then it kind of makes sense. Technically, he would only be 500 or 600 years old, and he's just adding all that extra time to make the number more overwhelming.

By that logic, Merlin would be 2000 years old. Orion, thinking this, couldn't help but roll his eyes.

"Okay, okay… so listen," Eric replied, finally making up his mind to tell Orion.

"It was a thousand years ago when it all started. Before that, I was just like any ordinary wizard, a strong wizard—I was among the best, but still nothing compared to that man.

My master was strong, very, very strong. His name alone was—" Eric was saying, but Orion cut him off.

"Dude, I don't need an autobiography about your master, make it quick," Orion muttered, irritation in his tone. He just wanted to learn a few things about those vampires and then get back to the real reason why he was here.

Finding Merlin, of course!

Eric paused, seeing the irritated face in front of him, and couldn't help but sigh.

'Youngsters nowadays,' Eric shook his head.

To him, Orion could be an old wizard playing a child to deceive others, but still, for him, Orion was a youngster—after all, not everyone can live for 1000 years.

"Everything started after I met my master. He told me that there were dangers in this world that we aren't even aware of. A small group of determined wizards had been fighting this danger for the longest time.

I was chosen to be the next in line to protect everyone. I trained hard under my master, but…" Eric stopped there, his reaction enough to tell Orion that things didn't go as well as they could have.

'Wait a minute, this story… why does it feel like I've heard it before?'

"I failed. I wasn't able to protect what I had trained so hard for. Not only that, but I also ended up dragging my master to his end.

He wasn't as strong as he could have been due to passing on his power to me. But he still fought and saved everyone.

That was when I was cursed by that evil, the one that everyone in that organization swore to kill and stop.

My master wasn't able to kill that evil, only send him back to hell. But with that, the line of succession was cut off.

That power, which could stop the evil, was…

It fell on me to choose the next successor, but I slowly turned into a vampire. I just couldn't do anything." Eric said, and then the room fell into silence.

Orion, who had heard the entire story, just stood there with a complicated expression. He knew that Eric was holding back a lot of information, but…

'But… why does this sound so familiar?' Orion had a strong sense of déjà vu.

"Your master's name… it wasn't Merlin, was it?" Orion asked after much thought, and he didn't like the sudden change in Eric's facial expression at all.
