(Floyd Lawton POV)
"Ugh", I groan as I slowly wake up. I can't feel my legs and arms. After blinking for a moment, I see a small light bulb hanging above me. It's the only source of light that I have here. I try to make out other things but ... I can't. I still feel groggy. I was drugged. That Batarang was laced with poison.
Oh shit! The Batman! He was the last one I saw, I think. F*ck where am I? I try to get free but there is nothing that works. I calm myself down but there's nothing that helps. I don't know what's going on but I can't get myself under control. Is it the drug that I was given? I need to get out of here. I try to move my arms, but there seems to be no strength I can muster.
I try to blink a few times and look down to see how I am tied up. Some ropes bind me and stop my movement but I should be able to move even with that. Then what... wait! Are those ... acupuncture needles? What the f*ck? I look around and find several of those placed in different spots.
I lift my head and in front of me ...
"AH! ... Shit you scared me.", I say as I look at Batman. How did he get that close to me without me hearing him? I trained my senses to feel such things but he ... it's like he has no presence. What is he?
"What is it that you want? Are you going to torture me and then kill me? I don't have anything of value. You should know that I was hired to kill you. Someone really wants to kill you. It's nothing personal ok? So do your worst, I have nothing to lose.", I say. I am a good liar but these drugs are probably throwing off my performance. I just hope it works.
"Floyd Lawton. Son of George and Genevieve Lawton. Brother to Eddie Lawton. Your father was an abusive drunk. Your mother suffered many beatings from your father and took her frustrations out on you. Your brother Eddie was a good son and took some of the beatings for you.
Eventually, your mother had had enough and encouraged you to shoot his father. You aimed at your father, but your nervousness caused him to flinch. The shot missed your father but instead killed your brother Eddie between the eyes, killing him. You made a promise that day, didn't you? What was that?"
I began to breathe heavily. He knew me! He knew who I was. That meant that ... no. Calm down. Calm down, Floyd!!
"I promised myself that I would never miss again ..."
"And?"
"... and that I would kill my father the next time I saw him."
"And how did that go for you?", he asked. I was very close to freaking out.
"It made me the man I am today. After years of training, I became so skilled with that I never missed. I became Deadshot."
"I know you, Floyd Lawton."
How can someone have such an intimidating presence when he hides everything from his body? He might as well be a robot. But for some reason, I know he is real. I can only wait for what is to come. He will want information, but I am afraid for them. He must know and will use that to ...
"I ... have information. I'll tell you who hired me."
"I'm the best detective in existence. I already know that.", he says and my eyes widen. I can feel the tears slowly beginning to fill my eyes. Just what was that drug?
"Pleas-", I want to say but see him walking away without saying a word.
"Stop killing innocents Lawton. If I find out you did that ... I will find you. And don't kid yourself. Your past might have made you Deadshot, but Suchin and Zoe are what make you who you are in the present.", he says and then just ... vanishes.
"He knew....", I can't help it, but after he leaves like that ... tears begin to fall from my eyes. He knows about my daughters. I cry silently for a while and let the short talk play in my mind again. 'I know you, Floyd Lawton' 'Don't kid yourself'
And then it hit me! He never mentioned my daughters in a way to threaten me. He knew but didn't mention it when he tried to intimidate me. Only at the end, when he was already leaving did he mention them passively. I have to get out of here. I need to see them. But how? I look down at my hands and see ... the ropes and needles ... are all gone!!
What kind of man is he?

(3rd Person POV)
The night was still young this meant that it wasn't time for Batman to rest just yet. He got a message on his multipurpose tool. He took it out and saw that there was a hostage situation. A group of 10 mid-level criminals had taken 20 hostages and were demanding 100'000$ to release them. That alone sounded strange. He could see the red flag when he read the message.
Batman pressed a button and sent out a pulse to scan the surroundings. He wanted to see whether there was someone that was watching him. He was careful, but you could never be too careful. The message came back that there were seven people in a radius of 5 km. When he checked closely, he saw that it was safe. He contacted BOB to come to his location. A portal opened and he sat in.
"BOB bring me five blocks away from the address of the hostile takeover. Scan for any form of technological signals in the area that aren't supposed to be there. And scan for live signals as well on the surrounding roofs and the like. This is a trap, but I'm unsure by whom. I'd say KGBeast, but you never know who else is on my tail."
[Affirmative. Opening portal.]
A portal opened and Batman drove through it. He turned the Batmobile invisible and hid it in a dark alley. Then he waited for the results from BOB. After 7 minutes the results came back.
[No technological discrepancies found. Various mechanical traps have been found all over the building where the hostages are located. Two suspicious life signatures found.]
"Show me the location of the two signatures."
[Affirmative]
"I see. Send out the drones. I want a visual on those two. I guess one of them is KGBeast. The other is not in a good position to intervene very fast. Unless the person can fly, but it shouldn't be time for that yet. So an observer most likely."
[Affirmative], Bob said and sent out five special drones that were equipped with various cameras and other features that helped Batman collect data and evidence. Batman activated the 3D technology and watched the feed live. The first person was male and ... had a suit on as well. Red and blue ... oh yeah, that was KGBeast alright. So this was his trap. Quite embarrassing work.
The second person ... was a woman. The build was that of a woman but there weren't any other features to be seen. She was very skilled and she hid very well. The X-ray told Batman about her skills. She had the build of a skilled fighter or assassin. The bones were stronger and denser, the muscles were as well. He checked with all of the different cameras he could.
He was currently working on something that could read DNA from a long distance. But for not that was enough. The fact that it was a woman narrowed it down a lot. The first woman he thought of, was Talia al Ghul. But that wasn't very likely. His math told him that she was now a very young mother. And very recently too. So she was probably not the one who was watching there.
Then there was another woman who fit the description. He would have to see later on. For now, he was going to deal with the KGBeast.
.
Batman approached the position of KGBeast. He had seen the explosives located underneath the building. It seems like he was prepared for the eventuality that Batman found him instead of going to rescue the hostages. But Batman was far ahead of him. He approached the man and watched for a while. He wanted to see what the man would do while waiting. He wanted to gather data on this man. It was the most powerful tool ... information.
He saw that the KGBeast had quite a bit of discipline. He was a big man and had powerful arms and legs. His speciality was guns if the equipment was anything to go by. But he never trusted one source alone. At the moment the KGBeast used guns, explosives, and traps and from his physique, he had to be a skilled martial artist. Given his past as a KGB operative, that made sense.
After a while, Batman decided to act.

(Anatoli Knyazev POV)
I watched the different screens for any movement. From the information I gathered, the Batman was a crafty piece of shit. But nothing this Russian bear couldn't handle. Batman relied on intimidation tactics and the superstition of criminals. But he was stupid if he thought that would work on professionals like I was. The goons I hired were clueless as to their true objective. They thought that it was a normal hostage situation, but they failed to realise that I hadn't given them any instructions for when they got the money.
I told them what to do until they got the money, but not after that. I bet on the fact that Batman would try to save them before that. Because the goons had the instructions to kill hostages every hour after 12:00 PM. And that was in 13 minutes. I held the detonator in my hands. No trap had been triggered yet. Where was he?
"Has he turned up yet?"
"No, not yet. But he- !!!!"
I turn around as fast as I can and point my gun at him. I pull the trigger but he dodges and flashes towards me. I try to move but he is insanely fast. I drop the gun and take out another. He has arrived within arm's length. I want to fire again but his hand grabs to top of my gun and stops it from firing. Good precision, I'll give him that. i pull my hand back, hoping to have it fire. But he has other plans. He yanks the top off, effectively breaking the gun and making it useless.
"Fine then ... fists.", I say and approach the smaller man. He might be my height, but he is far weaker. I would guess half if, depending on his suit. I punch with all my might and practised precision. He dodges and I follow up with another punch. He dodged that one as well and stepped into my guard. Thinking quickly, I try to close it, by aiming my elbow at his face. As my elbow is about to hit him I feel a small sting at my elbow joint.
The fist impacts with his face ... is what I thought but he suddenly stands next to me. What is going on? I swing my arm around for a left hammer, but I miss. Another sting.
I try to roundhouse kick him. Another sting. I attack fiercely and keep the pressure on him. My plan is simple but effective. I pressure him until he is in a corner and has no way out. As the fight progresses we arrive at the edge of the roof.
"That was rather pathetic ~Batman~. I thought you were more skilled. Oh well.", I say to taunt him. I decide to kill him in a grand display. I will punch him off the building and have him be a red bloodstain on the sidewalk. I pull my fist back and punch with full speed and strength. I see and feel my fist make contact with him as he just stands there. Hehe, he has accepted his fate.
!!!!
"What?! What ... is going on?!", I exclaim. My fist has reached him ... but he hasn't moved the smallest bit. My fist ... has no strength. Niet. Suddenly my right arm falls limply to my side. I lose all control over it. I look at Batman who is right in my face and back away. He walks closer to me. I try to retreat but suddenly my left leg also loses all its strength. That is followed by my left arm and then my right leg.
I fall to the ground and see Batman approach me with very slow steps.
'No ... stay away.', is what I try to say but I lost my function over my vocal cords. I feel the strength leaving my facial muscles and my eyes ... close and everything turns black.
(3rd Person POV)
Standing before the unconscious body of KGBeast, Batman takes a moment and his thoughts are already racing, thinking about the next few steps he should take. There are the hostages as well as the woman waiting in the shadows, observing him. He has to confront her sooner or later and it would be beneficial to do it sooner. With sooner, he means now. But what to do with the body? Well, that is rather simple.
Batman takes out a special box from his Utility belt. He presses the button and then throws the box on the ground. The box begins to transform from a box into a pointy shape until it finishes looking like a miniature rocket. This beauty is Batman's 'Miniature Rocket for special deliveries'. What this means, will be demonstrated shortly.
Batman takes something else out of his Utility Belt. It looks like a ball of bandages and that's what they are. But these bandages are different. They're much more robust and durable. Batman quickly bandaged KGBeast's entire body until it looked like a mummy. After that, he connected the body to the 'Miniature Rocket for special deliveries' and then tapped some commands into the dial on the rocket. After typing for a few seconds, he stepped back a few meters and then waited.
Like a real rocket, the miniature one ignited its fuel and shot into the air, dragging the body of KGBeast with it. After 7 seconds, it was no longer visible, because it employed stealth mode and then vanished inside a miniature portal.
Batman took out his Multipurpose tool and contacted Sebas to tell him about the first addition to their cells in the Batgarage. With this finished, Batman moved from the building and fused with the shadows again. He was going to meet the woman. He had checked and saw that she was still in her original spot. This evening was turning out to be quite a hectic one for Batman, but that's the way he liked it.

(Unknown POV)
On the roof, a couple of hundred meters away, I am hiding in the shadows and observing the confrontation between Batman and the hired gun. The KGBeast is his name. I was told that Batman had dealt with both Deathstroke and Deadshot not long ago and now he was engaging the strong Russian, former KGB operative. His moves are almost graceful and calculated. He either doesn't have the necessary strength to deal with the Beast or ... or he is toying with him. Thanks to the tools provided by the Head, I can see the quick and precise attacks from Batman.
It doesn't look like he is toying with him but he might as well. It looks like he is performing Dim Mak, by pressing his vital points but that should have different results than what I am seeing here. I would know since it is one of my specialities. I continue to watch and then ... oh my. What a turn of events. One moment the Russian is arrogant and believes to have won and then next, he is trying to get away while more and more of his body begins to fail him.
I watch as Batman takes something from his belt. It looks like ... a cube? What is- oh my. It seems like Batman has access to very advanced technology. Good thing that this spyglass has a built-in recording function. Everything I am seeing here is recorded and will be shown to the Head. The information she gave me doesn't seem to match what I am seeing. Neither told me who he was. It felt like they couldn't tell me. I am getting more and more interested in this Batman.
What is this? A small rocket? What does he plan to do with that? And now he takes out a ... hm? Bandages. I observe Batman bandaging the KGBeast like a mummy and then tying it to the rocket! No, he is not going to do what I think he is, is he? But he is. He taps something into the rocket and then steps back. I watch the small rockets shoot into the air and then disappear.
What was the purpose of that? Does he deliver criminals to the police that way? What will he do now? The Batman walks into the shadows and the ... disappears! He is gone! Not even night vision can track him. It is like he vanished completely. Did he notice me? He walked towards the direction of the hostages, so it is likely that he is going there.
But what if he- !!!

(3rd Person POV)
The woman hiding in the shadows jumps away from her previous hiding spot. She tilts her head to the side and manages to narrowly dodge a black fist. The fist changes directions and comes at her like a hammer. He tilts her body back and does a backwards handstand flip. She is trying to create distance but the dark figure is already on her. There is absolutely no breathing room for her.
She blocks a punch and tries to use the momentum of the strike to enter the person's range and strike back. She punches but gets blocked. Another attack comes from her side and she ducks underneath. Bending her legs she pushes and uses her hips to gain the necessary force for an attack. He twists her body and strikes her hand at the man's stomach.
Her fist approaches the dark figure's abdomen but is suddenly hit with a knee coming from below. The leg then extends and smashes the foot into the woman's stomach instead.
"UFF!"
This gives her the necessary space to look at the person who has attacked her finally. Her eyes widen as she recognises the figure of the Batman in front of her. The speed of their exchange and the movement her head had to make to dodge all of the attacks, resulted in her not even recognising the fact that she was fighting the Batman. The black cape with red accents waves in the wind as he seems to observe her as well. The woman's black, long hair also flutters similarly.
Neither of the two says anything. The tension is high. The woman is excited though. She hasn't met someone as skilled at Bamtan yet. There are countless powerful and skilled martial artists in this world, but no one, neither the Head, the Heart and not even Deathstroke brought her joy anymore. She was just better than them. But this man in front of her was different. She could feel his skill and the hidden power contained in each strike. This could be the one fight she had been looking for.
.
The woman was the first to attack. Out of seemingly nowhere, several shurikens appeared in her hand. With deadly precision and planning, she threw them at Batman. While he could just ignore them due to his suit, he didn't risk anything. He was Batman and Batman was paranoid. He knew the woman in front of him and if she had the resources that he thought she did, then there was no telling what these weapons are made of.
He blocked a few with the spikes on his forearms and dodged the rest. He knew the tactic here. The shurikens were thrown with a specific idea in mind. He could see the pattern. She was trying to dictate the flow of the fight, and he wouldn't allow that to happen. He took out Batarangs and threw them. Batman had spent a lot of time coming up with different Batarangs for every situation. He made them look the same to throw his enemies off. It was similar to Roger Federer's serve. You never knew where he was going to aim at.
In quick succession, Batman threw about 20 Bararangs in different directions. This action seemed to confuse the woman for a moment but her experience and training kicked in. She took out two katanas and ran towards Batman. She had to block multiple Batarangs that came at her from different angles and directions. But her skill with the blade was astounding.
*Cling cling cling*
Metal clashing was heard. The woman attacked Batman with her Katanas and Batman blocked with his arm guards. But this was a worthy opponent. He would give her the respect she deserved. He blocked a slash from the right with the spikes on his left forearm and used a front kick to push her away. Then he grabbed his own blade from his back. The woman narrowed her eyes. She was certain that there hadn't been a sword there just a moment ago.
And she was correct. Batman's suit was built with nanomachines. He could will a sword to materialise as well as his cape. He wouldn't allow himself to have a weakness. And just like Edna said, 'No capes!'. But Edna didn't have access to the technology he had. The blade was a Katana that looked like the one Yuriichi Tsugikuni had. The colour was fitting, but he went with a darker shade of red, to have it go along with the rest of his suit.
[Picture]
The woman was surprised at this but attacked nonetheless. She was like a ferocious tiger that struck with his claws. She was a strong woman that wasn't obvious when you looked at her. Her skill with the blade was formidable but Batman was no slouch either. He blocked her attacks one after the other.
The woman slashed with her right and Batman blocked it. Using this, she attacked with her other sword and tried to stab him. But Batman was ready for this and had left himself open, hoping for this to happen. It was bait. The Katana shoots towards his body but he lets one hand go from his sword and uses his spikes on his forearm. In slow motion things happen like this:
Batman uses the small gaps between the spikes to position the sword coming from the front. As that happens he raises his arm up and to the side in one fluid motion. Now his forearm is pointing to the sky and the sword misses his body. Still mid-motion, Batman continues this movement but grabs the blade with his hand.
So with his left hand, Batman is using his Katana to block the woman's, and with his right hand, he manages to grab the blade of her left hand. He then uses the woman's momentum against her and pulls as hard as he can. He pulls his arm back and brings his knee up to meet the unfortunate lady's arm.
*Crack*
"Argh", she exclaims. That is the only sound she makes as Batman's knee hits her arm and breaks it. The katana in her left hand falls to the ground and she retreats immediately. But this isn't a friendly sparring match. Even though it might as well be for Batman. He is enjoying himself but is fully focused. He closes the distance immediately and slashes with his sword.
The strike is basic but powerful. The woman only has one hand now, which makes this hard for her. It wouldn't be a problem to deal with someone who physically outclasses her, but against someone who has the strength and the technique, she stands no chance. She is forced to retreat. Her hand is occupied with defending against his strikes, so she can't use her other hand to pull out throwing weapons ... is what normally would happen.
But this is a world-class assassin and martial artist. She knows how to deal with pain. Using the movements of the fight, she manages to swing her arm in the right position and uses sheer muscle strength to grab some smoke bombs. This fight is no longer in her favour. Not that it ever was. She continues to block and throws the bombs to the ground. She sheaths the blade as fast as she can and then begins to run.
She speeds to the edge of the building when something impacts her neck.
"ARRKKKK"
The hand lifts her up into the air and then slams her body to the ground.
"UFFF", the air leaves her lungs. But she is not done yet. She swings her legs back and stands back up. Her guard is already back up. She doesn't think right now. She is in pure survival mode as she prepares for anything the creature in front of her will throw at her. And she doesn't need to wait long.
Batman is suddenly in front of her and punches her. She blocks and redirects the force of the blow, but another fist comes at her from the left. A left hook threatens to impact her side and break some ribs. Using the same movement, she brings her arm around and blocks that attack as well. But things turn up a notch. A roundhouse kick comes from the left. The woman brings her arm back up and blocks the leg.
The impact is harder than she anticipated. Using this stance of her opponent, she kicks as well. But her leg gets grabbed by Batman and he brings his elbow down and hurts her thigh. What a cruel thing to do to those things. Batman is already in a lower position and then unleashes hell onto the woman.
He switches to his personal style of Wing Chun and fires his fists in an IP-Man-like fashion onto every part of the woman's body. She tries to break free from this fist-barrage but he just taps her pressure point and immobilises her. An elbow hits her head and makes the world spin for her. The last thing she sees is an uppercut and after that ... the world becomes black.
____________________________________________
This fight was longer than intended. I think you can guess who this is, but for those who don't, it will be a surprise next chapter. And just so there will be no discussions about who is the most skilled martial artist in DC, in my story, this woman is the best one on the planet. (*cough cough* except for Batman of course)
