"Dad mentioned that he didn't want to bring the truth to his deathbed, but he ended up surviving the accident," Evan said, considerably calmed down and sobered up. "I wonder if he knew that he wasn't going to die, he wouldn't have bothered to tell me. But it doesn't matter anymore."
Evan shook his head.
"You already know this since I've told you this before, but Mr. Royall, the CEO of the company where Dad worked, took responsibility for the accident since it happened within the company's premises." He recounted, his voice slightly rushing, as if he wanted to get it over with as soon as possible.
"One thing led to another, and I became the adopted son of Mr. Royall, securing my future from a kid from a low socio-economic neighborhood to living in a mansion and being part of the 1% of the elite in society."
