The scene was enveloped in silence as both Ruth Dawn and William Cole shut their mouths, with neither willing to initiate conversation.
Both Ruth and William had their own internal concerns and hesitations.
"What's the matter? You don't want to?" Mrs. Cole looked at the two of them.
William Cole spoke up directly, "Mrs. Cole, for now, let's not discuss these matters between Ruth and me."
"Talking about these issues right now is not good for anyone."
Ruth Dawn snorted softly, "What's not good about it? I think it's not good for Minnie Wright, right?"
William Cole frowned, "Partly yes, right now I can't help but consider Minnie's feelings."
"You!"
Ruth Dawn's eyebrows shot up in anger, a surge of rage rising in her heart, but she had no rebuttal. William had divorced her and was now involved with Minnie Wright, and there was nothing Ruth could do to interfere.
