"That's not it," she quickly said to placate Shouko. "Look, we need to get out of here real quick."

God knew what might happen next.

Outside, the air crackled with a volatile energy, the stench of sweat and fear a tangible presence. It was a scene etched in desperation, where both sides yearned for a swift end -- the rioters to unleash their fury, the officers to restore order before the flames consumed the entire district.
