[Third Person's PoV]
Iris and Beatrix stared at Cid in shock at his sudden appearance. Beatrix's shock transformed into a confident expression, while Iris wore a worried expression.
"Cid, what are you doing here? Are you crazy? You're going to get hurt. Quickly, leave. You'd have no chance against Shadow. He's simply too strong," Iris exclaimed with evident worry in her tone.
Cid and Shadow inwardly groaned, both thinking, 'Please shut up,' simultaneously, while Beatrix looked at Iris in confusion, wondering if she was unaware of Shadow's strength.
Ignoring Iris, Cid smirked up at Shadow, who smirked back, a hidden secret behind their expressions.
"Hey—" Before Iris could say anything else, Beatrix placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her.
"It's alright. Believe in Cid. He's strong," Beatrix said confidently, having previously experienced a glimpse of his power. Iris looked at Beatrix in surprise.
"I know he's strong, but is he really strong enough to fight against Shadow?" she asked.
"I'll let my skills do the talking," Cid assured Iris without taking his eyes off Shadow.
Shadow looked down at them as lightning flashed through the clouded skies. "You said I should run away from you? Why don't you come here and make me!" he exclaimed challengingly.
Cid maintained his smirk as golden wings sprouted from his back, propelling him towards Shadow, who grinned in return. Shadow waved his hand, summoning more thunder and lightning, directing them towards Cid.
Iris and Beatrix watched in astonishment. "HOW IS HE DOING THAT?!" Iris exclaimed.
"It's his magic power control. I've never seen someone wield their magic power with such precision. He's able to extract his magic outward and still wield it. He's controlling his magic to take the shape of wings to fly… It's simply amazing," Beatrix explained.
Their astonishment peaked when they witnessed Cid slice through the lightning strike Shadow hurled at him. They were unsure what surprised them more: Shadow wielding lightning or Cid effortlessly cutting through it.
Cid appeared before Shadow, sword in hand. Shadow evaded the blade with ease, attempting to kick Cid down. But Cid adjusted his position with a flap of his wings, flying back towards Shadow, who conjured two purple fireballs.
The fireballs transformed into eastern dragon shapes and hurled towards Cid. Creating a golden platform beneath his feet, Cid closed his eyes, channeling his magic into his sword.
As the fire dragons approached, he took a deep breath, slicing them in half. However, instead of dissipating, they glowed brighter before triggering a massive explosion that sent Cid crashing through buildings.
"HAHAHAHAHA! This is the power that's supposed to make me run?!" Shadow laughed.
Iris and Beatrix prepared to attack, but Shadow halted them with his Haki.
"You fools had your chance to fight me. You guys are no longer entertaining. I've found a new toy," Shadow taunted.
Shadow extended his hand catching a golden Crescent which flew his way. He held it in his hands before pretending to examine before he flicked it back towards where it came from.
"Here you can have it back" Shadow teased.
Cid simply walked out from the rubble he crashed against completely unharmed, he pointed his sword towards his sword Crescent that was flying back to him, instead of clashing against each other, the sword absorbed the slash back into it self,
"Thanks, I don't want to waste my magic that leisurely" Cid retorted.
Iris and Beatrix secretly appeared underneath Shadow before charging themselves up and jumped towards him with their sword already in a swinging motion.
When they appeared in front of him instead of being surprised Shadow simply held out both his hands taking a hold of both their faces.
He looked at them coldly as he then said, "Did I already say to get lost, you're starting to bore me."
They tried to pry his fingers from their faces but Shadows' grip was simply too strong. Shadow pulled both his arms back before throwing them both towards the ground creating a crater with their bodies as they both coughed up blood.
Shadow continued to look coldly towards them before saying, "Fine, since you want to fight so bad, Fight one of my soldiers… Igris entertain them since they simply don't appear to want to stay still, while I have my fun"
Right underneath Shadow Igris appeared with his sword planted on the ground and his hands resting on top of it, waiting for them to get up.
'My liege can I fight one of them, while Igris fights the other' Beru pleaded from his shadows.
'The next fight would be yours Beru, they are too weak for your strengths' Shadow explained
Beru just made sad grumbling noises, to which Shadow just shook his head.
As that happens Cid appeared before him with his sword already in motion, quickly moving out of the way.
"Come on dude I'm having a conversation here" Shadow said with a smirk, to which Cid smirked back.
"Heh, I know, let me guess Beru asked you to join?" Cid said as he continued swinging his sword trying to cut Shadow.
"Oh my I wonder how you came to know of such information and of that name" Shadow teased.
"Seriously?" Cid Chuckled
To which Shadow chuckled back, "I know, I know… after all we're the same person" He said as he blocked his sword and punched Cid on the face sending him flying back.
Shadow raised his hand towards the skies which amplified the sound of thunder and lightning, they started moving through the skies in a frantic fashion.
Cid already knowing what was going to come landed back on the and raised his sword towards the skies as well, he started filling it up with his magic power, until it glowed like a beacon of light.
As that was going on, both Iris and Beatrix got up from the ground with shaky legs. Beatrix's instinctively went haywire cause her to turn her body at an awkward angle.
And it was lucky that she did as Igris appeared and swung his sword, cutting the building behind them which caused it to crumble.
Sweat dripped down her face as her eyes widened, 'If my instinct didn't warn me I would have surely died' She thought before attacking.
While Igris just started playing around with them, smashing them into buildings, into the floor, against one another.
"Kirin…" Shadow lightly said while making a sweeping motion with his two fingers.
From the thunderous clouds a purple color Kirin appeared made completely out of thunder while galloping down towards Cid.
While Cid opened his eyes which caused his sword to start stretching and growing larger and longer, so long in fact that it pierced the clouds.
Cid let out a yell as he took a step forward swung his sword, the skies parted as his sword cut through the skies before meeting the Kirin head on.
As soon as they made contact a white flashed nearly blinded everyone who was still looking from the tournament arena. What followed after was a huge explosion which decimated the buildings around them, while the sky was cut into due to Cid's attack.
Everyone held on for their dear life as they were nearly blown away by the huge explosion.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" Shadow's laughter resounded throughout the entire city, a laughter filled with nothing but amusement.
"That was a fantastic attack, Cid Kaguno! Perhaps you are the only person in this world that has the power to go against me, but you are still too weak!"
Shadow raised his hands towards the sky and made a grasping motion before acting as if he was pulling something.
Everyone froze when they saw something being pulled down from the sky, they were frozen with fear as they saw a giant meteor, the size of the city towards them.
"After all, if I so wanted, I could kill. Every. Single. One. Of. You"
Everyone started shaking, they didn't even try to run as they deemed it pointless, they held the hand on the person next to them, knowing that it was their last day on earth together.
They all closed their eyes and waited for the inevitable, after a few seconds nothing happened confusing everyone.
When they opened their eyes they saw Shadow holding the meteor with just one hand.
"But since I had so much fun, I'll decide against it," Shadow said before his arm gained a deadly aura around them.
The meteor slowly started turning gray as he held it, slowly after it started turning grey it started to disintegrate into dust being flown in the wind
Everyone collectively let out a sigh of relief, before Shadow pointed down towards Cid with a smirk, "I, The Shadow Monarch, deemed you Cid Kaguno my rival, if I'm the shadow of this world you shall be the light, grow stronger and stronger so one day we could have a proper fight"
Cid just scoffed, 'I can be such a showoff my god'
"As I thank you for your entertainment I shall depart with one last gift" Shadow said before closing his eyes and lifting both his hands slowly from his side.
The ground started to shake, scaring everyone once more thinking it was another attack.
But it wasn't, from the ground buildings started appearing, buildings that were just like the one Shadow previously destroyed, each building was identical to what was destroyed without missing anything or anything being out of place. Shadow used his earth magic to fix the place how it was before, meanwhile Igris used that chance to sink back into his shadow.
Once he was done Shadow dusted his hands saying, "Kaisel" from his shadow his wyvern appeared flying underneath him, before flying away making everyone let out a sigh of relief that he was gone, most specifically Iris and Beatrix.
Cid looked towards the injured Beatrix and Iris and asked with a smirk "Are you two alright?"
Iris simply rolled her eyes, "What do you think?" she asked while panting
"exhausted" was all Beatrix said leaning upon a wall.
'I better find a chance to disappear so I can merge back with the original's Shadow' Cid thought while looking at the two of them.
[Third Person's PoV]
Cid looked at both Iris and Beatrix, "Well, now that I know you two are alright, I need to go check on my sister," he said as he turned around and left.
Once he was far enough from everyone, his shadow started to expand slightly as shadow appeared from underneath it.
Cid just covered his face with his hands, "Please dissolve me already, that was so embarrassing, I want to die."
"How do you think I feel? It was the real me that was actually saying all those things, and I don't need to explain why I did what I did, right?" Shadow asked.
To which Cid just sighed and shook his head, "Yeah, don't worry, I got it, I got it. Now nobody would even consider Cid and Shadow ever being the same person, no matter how much strength you showed as Cid."
Shadow nodded his head before 'Cid' went poof and burst into black smoke that dove into his Shadow's shadow.
Shadow then transformed back into Cid before simply walking away as if nothing happened.
A few hours later…
A Carriage pulled up in front of Beatrix, who was seen waiting outside the God of War Festival stadium.
She was confused at first before a woman jumped from the driver's seat and opened the door, "Please get in, madame Alpha awaits you."
Beatrix was at first surprised before nodding her head and getting seated on the opposite side of Alpha, who was simply staring out the window.
As the door closed and the carriage started moving, Alpha continued staring out the window as she asked, "Tell me, you have been alive for a long time and been to multiple places around the world. Have you ever heard of the name, The Diabolos Cult?"
Beatrix was surprised at first before she started shaking her head, "My main focus was finding you and making sure you were alive. I didn't pay much attention to anything else that wasn't related to that. I probably did hear of them but didn't think it important and probably forgot about it."
"I see…" Alpha said before looking at Beatrix, "Then if you are going to be following close behind me, you need to know a few things about me and what I do."
Beatrix didn't say anything as she gained a serious expression while looking at Alpha, curious about what she was going to say.
"To get the full picture, I'll start from the very beginning…" Alpha said with a smile, reminiscing about how she met Cid.
"When my mother died, I was then later kidnapped by bandits after they found out I had what is known as 'Demon possession'. To get money, they were planning on selling me to the church, who buy children who are said to be experiencing similar symptoms so they would 'Cleanse' them and stop it from spreading."
Beatrix noticed Alpha emphasizing some of the words but didn't comment on it and let her continue.
"On my way to being sold, I was inching closer and closer to death, but then I was saved. The tarp of my cage was thrown off and there stood the boy who would later be known as my Master and husband. He reached out his hand to my decaying body and started healing me, bringing me back from the brink of death."
Beatrix was quite shocked to hear how close Alpha was to death; she didn't expect it to be that bad. She wanted to reach over and console her, but she knew Alpha had more to say so she let her continue.
"As he healed me, I was quite surprised to find all of the bandits that took me dead where they stood. It was after that, that he revealed the truth of the world to me. There is no such thing as Demon possession; it's not a disease, it's not an illness, and it's definitely not contagious, or a Demon trying to possess and take over our bodies," Alpha sharply said, causing Beatrix's eyes to widen.
Although she doesn't know much about the Diabolos Cult, she knows about 'Demon possession'. She had seen it countless times on her journey. She saw how it affected the body and what it does to someone, so hearing it's not what she thought it was came as a great shock.
"If it's not what you just mentioned then what is it? What is causing this?" Beatrix asked, unable to contain her curiosity.
Alpha then went on to explain how the Diabolos Cult changed history and how it truly ended, how the cult changed the narrative of what truly occurred between the heroes and the demon Diabolos.
"So you mean to tell me, 'Demon possession' is just a curse on the hero's bloodline, and those who experience the symptoms are most likely their descendants?" Beatrix asked with a hand over her chin and mouth, to which Alpha nodded.
"After that revelation, Master offered me to join him, join his organization, an organization he was creating to stand against the Diabolos Cult. He wanted me to be the first person to join, and it is up to this day one of the greatest honors I have received.
He saved my life, and I owed him everything. How could I decline such an offer, and so of course I accepted. He did all he could to train me. Thanks to him, I became stronger, more knowledgeable, wiser. As we trained, more people started to join until there were 7 of us, the 7 of us became like sisters serving under the same master, growing stronger.
Once our strength became sufficient, we started saving more people under the effect of 'Demon possession' before the church or the Diabolos Cult could get a hand on them. Slowly but surely, our organization started to grow, acquiring more members the more people we saved."
As Beatrix was digesting all of the information she was hearing, Alpha tapped on the Carriage window that was on the back of her, which caused the Carriage to stop moving.
Outside underneath the Carriage, its shadow started growing darker and darker before it started to expand. The Carriage then started to sink into the Shadows before reappearing in front of a foggy forest. The Carriage then started moving again.
Beatrix was perplexed by the sudden change of scenery and was unsure of how Alpha was doing it.
The fog outside parted slightly, making way for the Carriage before closing up behind them as they made their way through the forest.
"Where are we headed?" Beatrix asked, looking outside not sure where she was; she's been to a lot of places but she doesn't seem to remember such a place.
"We are making our way towards our headquarters, where the majority of our members reside. Now tell me, after hearing all this, do you still wish to follow close to me?"
Beatrix gained a serious expression, "Yes, I do, now more than ever. You are doing something so noble if what I'm hearing is correct. I would be more than glad to fight by your side."
Alpha nodded her head, already expecting such an answer.
"Now tell me, what is the name of this organization you have built alongside Cid?"
"That's going to be Master. If you're planning on joining, please respect his position and call him as such."
Alpha coldly said, which caused Beatrix to gain an awkward expression.
As they were out of the forest, Alpha pointed outside to the window, which made Beatrix stick her head out and take a look.
As she did, her eyes widened seeing such a huge city, "Welcome to the Hidden City of Nightingale, where our organization, 'Shadow Garden' resides."
They soon passed through the city gates as the carriage made its way towards the castle.
"I see, so Shadow Garden is the name of the organization, it's a beautiful name," Beatrix said with a smile which caused Alpha to smile back and nodded her head.
They soon stopped as the door to the carriage was then open, "Come along, master demands your presence," Alpha said as she got out and started walking ahead, Beatrix simply followed close behind still admiring everything around her, from the city to the castle in front of her.
As they made their way inside, Alpha felt she needed to once again state, "I'll remind you again to please be mindful, as you are in our master's home and need to be respectful, even if you are my Aunt, I wouldn't forgive any disrespect towards our Master."
Beatrix nodded her head with a serious expression, as she didn't want to disappoint Alpha.
They soon arrived in front of the throne room, where two ladies dressed in their Shadow Garden outfits stood outside the room by each door.
"The master has been expecting you, my lady," they both nodded before reaching for the door and shouting, "Now Presenting Lady Alpha, the Sin of Pride and Lady Beatrix, the War Goddess."
They slowly opened the door as they did Beatrix and Alpha stepped inside, and when she looked towards the throne Beatrix froze on the spot, her mouth hanging open with her eyes widening as large as saucers.
"S-S-Shadow!?" She stuttered out, it wasn't that long since she had her ass handed to her by him and now she's meeting him again causing her a great amount of shock.
Shadow on the throne simply chuckled before lowering his hood, "We just seemed to keep running into each other, don't we Beatrix?"
"..."
"Eh?"
Beatrix's eyes started swinging in circles as her fingers moved in opposite directions, "But, But, But, Shadow, and then Cid. But they fought. How can there be two?"
Beatrix's brain short-circuited and went blue screened as she wasn't able to wrap her head around the situation.
