Kapitel 152: 152

After completing his ritual of burning incense, bathing, and praying to the gods, Wayne began with the master-level chest.

Ding! Master level treasure chest opened 1. Reward: 1,503 orens.*

Wayne couldn't believe it. A miss? He had a 20% chance of winning, and with his usual luck, he had been confident of success. Yet, on his lucky day, he had gotten off to a terrible start. He felt a pang of disappointment, as if he had missed out on a great opportunity.

He reminded himself that these were just setbacks, and the best was yet to come. He had also made a mistake by starting with the master-level chest; he should have used smaller chests as a warm-up.

Taking a few deep breaths to calm himself, Wayne shifted his focus to the ordinary treasure chests. He had accumulated forty-three of them, along with five expert-level chests, since his last lucky day in early February.

These expert-level treasure chests were obtained during the group's expedition to the shores of Lake Vizima, where they eradicated the remnants of the underwater city and the evil god's minions. Interestingly, the acolytes didn't use gold or any currency, nor did they value jewelry. Therefore, aside from numerous black and white pearls and some beautiful coral, there wasn't much loot to be found.

In this era, pearls weren't particularly valuable, primarily used as components for magical, alchemical, or medicinal purposes. Yennefer eventually purchased the pearls for five hundred orens, intending to use them in her beauty products. The sorceress's wealth came largely from her clientele of noblewomen, willing to pay a premium for her magical cosmetics.

The only other items of value found in the underwater city were the metal staves wielded by the priests and the remains of the evil god's effigy. The staves were excellent materials for forging equipment, possessing both magical conductivity and exceptional durability, making them ideal for constructing gargoyles, golems, or the core components of spell-driven constructs.

The effigy, while not immediately useful, held immense value for spellcasters like Sorceress, mages, and druids. It was a treasure trove of research material, promising new knowledge, potential breakthroughs, groundbreaking papers, and ultimately, wealth and fame.

After settling these post-war affairs, the former underwater city became the domain of the godling, Fitz. He had discovered unhatched acolyte eggs and intended to raise the hatchlings as his "little brothers," who would inherit the mantle of kings of Lake Vizima.

Wayne was pleased with this development. Fitz was like a younger brother to him, and having Vizima Lake as Fitz's territory indirectly made it his own.

Ding! 10 ordinary treasure chests opened. Obtained: 133 orens.

Ding! 10 ordinary treasure chests opened. Obtained: 142 orens, 3 steel shuriken.

Ding! 10 ordinary treasure chests opened. Obtained: 140 orens.

Ding! 13 ordinary treasure chests opened. Obtained: 185 orens, 5 Fireball Scrolls, 10 Tyrande's Bananas.

After opening all the ordinary chests, Wayne was heartbroken. Aside from the coins, he had only received useless ninja shuriken and some fireball scrolls. And what were Tyrande's Bananas? Were these ten thick, child-arm-sized bananas anything special?

Wayne suppressed his frustration, telling himself that these were just minor setbacks. The real treasures awaited in the final master-level chest. He then opened the five expert-level chests.

Ding! 5 expert-level treasure chests opened. Obtained: 622 orens, Deathclaw Egg (near hatching), Jaina's Magic Carpet.

The five expert chests yielded a curious sight: a watermelon-sized egg with strange patterns and a gorgeously rolled magical rug. As a seasoned gamer, Wayne's eyes widened in recognition. His lucky streak hadn't run dry after all! These were the real goods.

Deathclaw Egg (near hatching): This item hailed from a wasteland world ravaged by nuclear war. Inside lay a powerful Deathclaw baby, just a week from breaking free of its shell.

Jaina's Magic Flying Carpet: This exquisite magical rug was crafted by a gifted young sorceress from the world of Azeroth, intended as a birthday present for a certain prince.

A wave of understanding washed over Wayne after reading the descriptions.

The Deathclaw – a terrifying super mutant from the "Fallout" series – boasted defenses like steel, the strength to overturn vehicles with ease, claws that shredded iron, and a horrific bite force. Even in its wasteland home, this beast reigned supreme in the food chain. Forget conventional weapons, even machine guns, cannons, and mini nukes might struggle to take down a full-grown Deathclaw. Thankfully, these ferocious beasts were relatively easy to feed, consuming anything they could get their claws on. As a monster tamer, Wayne felt a surge of excitement. A Deathclaw hatchling? Luck was truly on his side! With careful training, he could potentially gain a formidable fighting companion.

However, Jaina's Magic Flying Carpet left a bitter taste in his mouth after reading the explanation.

This time, the system didn't even try to hide its thievery. It blatantly declared that the magic flying carpet had been "acquired" and was originally a gift from Jaina, a renowned sorceress in Azeroth, to a certain prince. Wayne felt no guilt, however. As a princess, Jaina could afford to lose a carpet, but for him, a magical flying contraption was a game-changer. After testing its capabilities, he might never have to ride a horse again! This was a significant upgrade, adding a new dimension of excitement and possibilities to his adventures.

Setting aside the two treasures, Wayne took a moment to compose himself. The previous disappointments were merely stepping stones. Even if the last master-level chest yielded nothing, he still felt it had been worth it. But Wayne was a greedy man. If he found another treasure, it would be a sign of the Lady of the Lake's favor, and he would need to find a way to express his gratitude... intimately.

Ding! Master level treasure chest opened. Reward: 1,548 orens, Vivian's Endless Money Bag.

Along with the coins, a small, exquisitely crafted bag appeared beside Wayne. It was made of fine fabric, black with a golden tie.

Confused, Wayne wondered, A money bag? From a master-level chest? What's so special about it?

He picked it up, seeking the system's explanation.

As he reached for the bag, the golden tie unfastened itself, and a palm-sized figure emerged. She wore a tiny white dress and had short golden hair, butterfly-like wings adorning her back. She resembled a miniature fairy, a delicate and beautiful creature.

After taking in her surroundings with a puzzled expression, she looked up at Wayne. Their eyes met for a few seconds before the petite elf tilted her head and introduced herself in a surprisingly confident voice, "I am Vivian, the Wealth Elf, and I have just graduated from the Imperial Wealth Academy. I am unsure how I arrived in this world, but are you the client I am meant to serve?"
