EleganceEra, New York City
The fashion house buzzed with the murmur of employees chatting with their colleagues. They talked about their boyfriends, the latest makeup products they bought, and the places they wished to visit. It was a typical conversation that made them forget their exhaustion and sore backs from sketching and stitching all day.
While other employees were busy with their daily chit-chat in one cubicle, Zarina was quietly engrossed in finalizing her sketches. She was so focused that she ignored her colleagues' daily gossip, unwilling to use her energy for idle chatter.
However, Zarina's interest was piqued when she heard a name that would ring a bell from her co-workers. Their voices were too loud to ignore, especially since they were talking close to her.
It was Georgia and Zia, both recently hired as fashion designers a month ago. They were fresh graduates but could afford to get hired by the most renowned fashion house in New York, thanks to their elite-class family connections.
"Hey, guess who I saw earlier?" Georgia said, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she leaned in to talk to her friend Zia.
"Who? Another man that caught your eye?" Zia replied, applying powder to her face.
Georgia let out an exaggerated eye roll, "No way! That's not on the agenda. Our company missed the chance to hire a handsome face, girl! It's a blessing that we've got these handsome models. It's way better for my eyes than just looking at fabrics and those faceless mannequins," she quipped with a hint of spoiled playfulness.
"But sis! That's not what I'm going to say! Did you know I saw the ever-stunning Miss Cassandra Hailey," Georgia added between her giggles.
Zia couldn't help but roll her eyes dramatically, "Seriously? I'm not vibing with that person. She had too much attitude. I hate her angelic face paired with that devilish attitude," she replied with a dismissive wave of her hand.
"Psh! You're a tough critic. You can't handle the truth that even Cassandra has a touch of bad in her. Yet, she's got a ton of fans and boys who are head over heels for her. Meanwhile, anything about you is bad, just like your face, ha ha!" Georgia teased her friend, bursting into laughter.
"Ugh! I hate you! Seriously, I started questioning our friendship here. You're turning into a wicked witch every day!" Zia declared, stomping her feet and shooting a fierce glare at Georgia.
Cassandra's name would undoubtedly ring a bell—how could it not? Her perfectly proportioned face is plastered on billboards and magazines throughout New York. The big screens on the bustling streets of New York always showcase her face. Her fame extends to the nearby state and the whole wide world.
'Hmm... I wasn't inform for her quick visit?' Zarina wondered, pausing her hands on the keyboard to eavesdrop on her colleagues' conversation.
Cassandra Hailey, a famous model and actress from a wealthy family in New York, is one of Zarina's notable clients. Zarina just finished making a gown for her and is now waiting for Miss Cassandra's response if she wants to try it before they deliver it.
EleganceEra is in great pride to have Cassandra as their client. The renowned model and actress brings a magnetic charm that lured her millions of fans to purchase the products and services she promotes. No wonder many business magnates choose her as their ambassador. Zarina knows that when Cassandra promotes a product, it has top-notch quality and effectiveness. Despite her fearless demeanor, Cassandra always prioritizes her integrity. She won't endorse fake products to deceive customers even if she's offered a million dollars. Integrity matters more to her than money.
Cassandra is always making headlines in the entertainment world. The cameras love her, and there's a swarm of paparazzi constantly snapping pictures of whatever she's up to. It's like flashes from the cameras buzz around her like a bunch of excited fireflies.
Just then, a scream echoed through the office. It came from the showroom, a few meters away from Zarina, so she could hear it.
"What's with the commotion?" Zarina asked, puzzled by the sudden uproar.
"Explain this, Miss Karina! I'm disappointed! I'll call my lawyer about this. I'll sue everyone who caused this damage to my dress! Where is my designer, Zarina? I thought she was a top-notch designer. Why did this dress turn into trash under her watch?" A woman's angry voice echoed through the office.
Silence fell over the room as everyone listened to the commotion. Cassandra Hailey was beyond furious and hysterical.
"Damn! Miss Cassandra seems to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. I'm afraid it might cause trouble throughout the entire company. You know how she possesses this uncanny power to shake things up in the blink of an eye," someone whispered anxiously.
A hushed tension settled over the office as several employees momentarily halted their tasks, eager to observe the impending drama about to unfold.
Zarina stood up and walked to the showroom, calm and professional. None of them felt that she was nervous. She firmly believes that she has nothing to be scared of anyway.
A wide grin appeared on Samantha's face. She was happy because everything was going according to her plan.
'What now, Zarina? How can you solve this?' She said she was excited to see Zarina cry with a river of tears.
Meanwhile, when Miss Cassandra emerged from the showroom doorway, Zarina was about to enter it. One could quickly tell she was angry by her brows knitted in frustration.
Accompanying her was Miss Karina, their CEO, who appeared visibly disappointed and worried.
"Miss Cassandra, let's talk about this privately, please," Karina begged, taking significant strides to catch up with Miss Cassandra.
"Excuse me, Miss Cassandra," Zarina called calmly.
Samantha stood behind Zarina, wearing a big smile that stretched from ear to ear. However, that cheerful look disappeared, replaced by a worried look.
'Ha ha! It looks like you can't handle this, Zarina. I'm confident I can convince Miss Cassandra to be my client instead,' Samantha thought.
